Hmmm... Maybe I might be thinking of the silver with blue!! I only ever get to see them on the car selection screen... I always use bumper cam!!

Bugger!!

Especially now that alot of older cars are gonna be in the game I really hope they give us a choice of choosing watanabe/superlight style wheels and different colours and styles (like my favourite, black with chrome dish).

Speaking of dish, I hope they let us choose deep dish wheels as well. As for choosing widths.I'd much rather not have the choice of choosing different width tyres and their effects on car handling (which would be minute for a game, unless you chose tiny tiny tyres) and rather they include acouple more cars or even a track.

But I really wish they include different types of watanabes. The perfect choise for pretty much any older car.

I presume a 'Watanabe' is some sort of Minilite copy?

..lets save the spokes for bicycles shall we

In GT4:Prologue the Blue with white stripes Viper has returned... therefore expect it to come to the full game too!

C.

No it hasnt returned, They're the same old Viper GTS colours from GT3.

Well i didnt read this thread too good but its about rims... :D well, on teh topic of 2d/3d rims -> did anyone noticed in GT4P when you pick Suzuki Alto Works that car have 3d alloys in any race... weird eh? I really dunno what to think and y' know what they look rather good even if spinning (someone noted that 2d ones look better spinning than 3d ones)

So whaddaja think about it? Maybe there will be 3d rims for all cars in refined Gt4 engine...

just checked this out.
The Wheels on The Alto (alloys) are 3d , you can also notice how they look different when spinning than the flat rims (the wheels moving backward effect is present).

I also noticed in the race i entered the Alto in to check this, that the Honda Beat (Steel) wheels are also Dished/3d effect, and to help with the giving the impression of motion PD have slightly off centered the revoloution, to give a more enhaced rotational motion.

Yeah, I've mentioned it a bunch of times, the rims on the Cuda in a Prologue replay have very 3d looking rims. I think we can expect 3d rims on several models.

What I ment by that is that I hope you dont have the option of choosing the tyre. eg a 245 wide tyre or a 265 tyre on the same rim, rather, just buy a deepdish rim. You can have a deep dish rim and have it no wider than the standard rim. It depends on the offset of the rim in queston.

And yes, the watanabe is pretty much a copy of the minilights but it can be questioned which one came first. Ideal for most old cars and look awesome on newer cars too.

Why dont you want wider tyre? If you want deep dish rims the best way is to get wider rim instead of changing offset.

Thats true but it seams like its just complicating the game too much. I prefer the game to have more suspension settings rather than tyre widths.

I just said if would be good to have deep dish rims purely from a visual aspect. I think they should just have the same thing as GT3 in terms of wheels in that you just choose them and race. The difference between driving on a set of forged alloy rims and just normal are not much in real life (i've driven a the same car that I own with a set of Minilights and you could hardely tell the difference!). No chome rims period (except for ones with just the dish ;) ).

Just leave it at that I reckon. I mean next thing people will be asking if we could add carbon fiber bonnets (which would be great) and make it have an effect on the cars. The weight saved on such little items such as wheels etc etc are not that much in real life from a driving point of view (sure its much easier to lift the bonnet if its made of CF) so I think they should be ignored in the game.

If you have a car with slim tyres and you want dish it will look stupid. Tyre width is fairly important. For example my Skyline came standard with 215's it now has 255's and it wheelspins heavly I couldnt imagine what it was like with stock tyres on it.

The Trial Celica already has chrome rims so I expect we will see more to come.

No way dude, having the low profile tyres stretched over the rim looks awesome.

Its a little trick used to help prevent scrubing too....

And no doubt tyres are a complex and important issue which is why I would rather they left it out fot GT4. The current way inGT3 of just choosing the tyre compound is enough I think and choosing the size is too much. Plus, you wont really have a huge selection of widths for a given rim anyway so I see no real point of having different tyres. I'll bet money it wont appear on GT4.

I am aware of tyres stretch over rims. I personally think it looks stupid. Its a real drifters craze these days. I though you meant you didnt want wider rims. because you said you just wanted to change the offset to make them deep dish.

Yeah thats what I ment. If it was up to me I'd have no such option as the choice of wider tyers or rims. Just have a deeper dish just for looks. It doesnt matter if its done with different offset or even a wider rim but no choice should be available from the user to choose a wider rim or tyre (also, it will have no performance effect on the cars).

Just my 2cents. I'm just happy the way the game is now.

I still dont understand why you dont want players to have wider rims and tyres. If wider rims & tyres dont affect performance than dragster might aswell use front runners on the rear it will reduce weight (front runners = the skinny tyres the use on the front).

"it will have no performance effect on the cars"
When I said that, I ment in the context of the game. As in if were given a choice of tyres, I hope it wouldnt have any performance advantage. In real life the tyre choice and compound makes a world of a difference.

What I'm trying to say is:
1. The choice of tyre widths on a given rim Xmm wide isnt that much. For instance, you cant put a 255 tyre on a rim designed for say 205. So you'll only have so many differnt tyre width choices even if you were able to choose tyre widths.

2. The game isnt realistic enough (no game will ever be) to feel the difference between different width tyres for a given rim. For instance, you'd have to be a race car driver to notice the difference between a 245 and a 255 tyre in real life! No game is realistic enough to even feel the difference between say a 225 and a 255 because its missing the 'seat-off-the-pants' element which is needed. Its like changing the suspension setting in GT3 by like 0.2kg/cm2. Thats about the difference you'll feel with lightly different tyre widths. Way to small a difference to be even considered on a game I think.

Number 2 is the reason why I think its stupid to have different wheel widths. In real life, different widths are important, but you wont notice the differece in the game.

I agree with you about the tyre widths on the same rim.

But you will notice the difference between 225 and 255's in the game. The 255's should have reduced wheelspin and youll notice that down the 1/4 mile.

I also depends on how PD codes the tyres, say for example you have 225's in game and PD give a viariable of grip of say... 50, if you get 255's that viariable may become 52 which in theory should give you roughly 4% better grip, which should show up on your 1/4mile times or even lap times. (these are just random numbers I made)

But to fit 255's you should most likely have to buy wider rims, not trying to stuff them on the rims that the 225 were on.

100 spoke gold-plated Daytons?

How 'bout some spinner dubs?

How about no.

And more of some of that no to go along with the second question.

Racing wheels that look good, do good for the job.

The wheels shouldn't go past 20", because obviously then the car loses speed dramatically.

Or maybe they should have them, just for photo mode? That wouldn't be bad at all; a Range Rover cruising through Cote D'Azur on 22"s. :D

Now that won't be too bad. Or a black Mercedes S-Class with some 24's.

I hope they have some sort of pimp wheels set.

It would be neat to be able to choose the style of the rim instead of choosing it from a manufacturer. That would make finding a certain rim easier. it would also be neat to have racing rims and show rims for photo mode.

👎 @ pimp rims.

👎 @ spinners.

o_O @ all the talk of changing dish depths, widths and other things. I get some of it, I don't get some of it, I don't care about most of it.
