Completely ruined my race...

Yah I think it might be a little too sensitive also, I nicked the first turn tires when I was trying to avoid Remy and Wardez. I had to limp around a complete lap w/ some crazy wobble in my front end. That cost me 1+ min but it was my fault so I delt w/ it.

Since I'm not the fastest and try to complete these events without a single mistake, I need the kind of rath and fury from the game so I'll live w/ it knowing that my races are mine to give away, except for the crazy fast runners. They can make a bunch of mistakes before my turtle consistancy can bite them.

I won Indy. Wiifreak came in second. Remy and I started on the front row. We pulled away pretty quick and he had great pace at the start but I was able to hang on with the draft. Around lap 5, I think, we went in to the first turn close together and he someone how lost it and ran right into the tire barrier, instant engine damage I'd say. I only lost the lead on my first stop after that.

Tires were cooked by lap 10 or so so I realized a two stop strategy pretty fast. Worked nicely, the car's so fun to thrash around.
==================

Well guys, I'm switching the damage to limited after today's race, here's my reasoning:

Because of the nature of the car's handling which is much too dangerous already (we're really gonna have to work on getting more stable base tunes out there btw), because of the potential for lag with GT5's servers (what caused Mule's bs engine damage), and because I want to attract a new group of drivers.

But this is all with one exception; the 2.4 hours of La Sarthe event will be set to heavy damage along with the full weather and time change. And I'll be giving a special prize out to the winner because of increased difficulty. Details on the prize will be announced shortly. The race is going to be set up like an open invitational challenge to the whole board and I'm going to promote it heavily for any one to come and challenge the field - should be great.

I'm also adding one more pre-season race since I'm going to go out and do some heavy promotional work. There will be a few special surprises decorating the OP as well coming this week.

Yeah phill, are you sure you wanna qualify for next week's race so soon? You have a whole week :)

But if you're not gonna be free till then, then by all means. Let me know 👍

I have yet to get a Z06 RM to spec now that you mention it,ok then perhaps I'll check tomorrow.

Cool, what does every one think of the new lay out and rules?

Also, I'll be opening up a few practice and quali sessions late in the week, just to get people used to qualifying before racetime.

Because of the nature of the car's handling which is much too dangerous already (we're really gonna have to work on getting more stable base tunes out there btw)

My setup on the Corvette was as stable as a rock an it made laps like one, but it was consistent and could be driven all day long. I made the choice to go for more stability rather then a setup that could get me into trouble by taking risk. In other words a qualifying setup wouldn’t work for a long race. I worked for hours to get an A/T setup that was stable and could beat my M/T advantage. I must have put in 75 laps trying to settle the car down and make it fast rather then quick. (there is a difference)

I understand Mule’s angst and his lap of misery but if a true champion is what your after then you have to have luck as part of the formula. To make the events too sterile, any consistancy advantage I might have will be neutralized. I’m never going to be the quickest because these things are pretend and I’m only left w/ the experience component.

The end of the race is where my work pays off and most of the time I run by myself on the track because the quick drivers take off to push the edge and I just try to get into the consistency zone. The only way my efforts will ever pay off is to make zero mistakes or the least amount of mistakes and now that looks less likely to be something that I will have in my favor.

Tires were cooked by lap 10 or so

because of the potential for lag with GT5's servers (what caused Mule's bs engine damage)

I understand that Muel had some engine issues but as in Wardez's tire statement as to his tires being cooked by lap 10, don't you think that Muel could have damaged his engine by his efforts and not the server lag? I was able to get about 15 laps out of my tires because of my smooth driving and using the A/T so don't you think that his engine could have also been abused and not some server lag demon?

No, what happened was, I turned in for turn 1, and all of a sudden, I had engine damage and right front suspension damage. My controller didn't vibrate (it vibrates when I hit something), and I didn't notice any jump in speed. I took my normal line through the turn.

It sounds similar to round 5 of WSGTC, where C-Falcon was 2 seconds in front but lag caused me damage because through glitching he ended up "in front of me", even though he was still 2 seconds in front.

I love the realism of full damage, but until PD gets it together, it can be ridiculous.

So good Dr. :) are you saying that it couldn't have been a server demon ???

no demons... just lag.
Happens all the time in FPS games. You think you dodged a shot but you get hit by it because the lag between what you did and what they did is too great. Just the nature of playing games online.
It's easier to accept in racing though, since you can write if off as one of the "it's racing things" like blowing a tire or mechanical failures that just happen. It's bad luck, but lag is part of online racing as much as punctures and mechanical defects are part of real racing.

Sucks for mule... but it also sucked for Michael Schumacher that his tire fell off on lap 1 of qualifying last week.

I can understand what the deal is now so I guess that there isn't a true fix for this issue other then go w/ limited I guess. It kind of sounds like the track reached out and slaped Mulez car upside the front end. I was really hoping that PD was able to create an enviroment for close racing but I won't be happy until I'm back on a real track again.

well, it's not really PD's fault. when we talk about lag issues with online gaming we're really talking about distance issues. And the speed of light is really at fault. It just takes too long to send an electric signal a few thousand miles.
The only way to eliminate lag is to eliminate distance. That's why all $$$ gaming competitions are played on a local network.

On the plus side if the lag monster crashes your car you don't die like the real world. ;)

Very interested in your series Wardez... I just don't know if I am going to be around for all the races. I have multiple weddings to attend during the Racing Series.

I would love to be an alternate for a few races.. I will let you know when I know my schedule better.

Thanks,
Rees

On a related note, I noticed on the driver information page that several people have wi-fi connections. As I'm sure everyone knows, an ethernet connection provides a much more stable connection than wi-fi. Although, I'm sure everyone with wi-fi would have already hardwired their connection if they could.

By all means, sign up! We'd love to have you 👍

Yeah Nas, true that. Although in some cases it's strangely not true for some reason. Like CSL, he actually had more trouble on hard wire than wifi for some reason, weird.

Anyway, you guys ready for Trial reverse? Too much fun, that layout's perfect for the Vette.

Well, weirder things have happened I suppose. :boggled:
That sucks. There are several threads on GTPlanet discussing GT5's frequent connection issues that experts have weighed in on. Search for those in case you haven't already.

As for the car, tonight was my first chance to try it out. To be honest, I couldn't manage a single lap around Trail-Reverse without crashing for the first hour . That may be due to the car, track, my seriously degraded driving skills, or all of the above.

Since my car isn't broken in yet and my skills are so poor, I doubt my lap times at this point would be meaningful to anyone. A good lap to see how far behind I am would be verrrrrry helpful though. 👍

Oh we got a wedding crasher in the series!!! Haha welcome red, you always kept me on the edge of my seat when I race with you. Good luck in the races to come. Look out, these cars will test you.

I deleted game data, reinstalled updates, it seems better on wired, I just didn't take notice because the update slowed me down, so I still have this and the update/maintenance tomorrow to hope for before I go to technical.

Have you tried the base tunes?

You're gonna need to play with the ride height in order to get it stable around Trial. Make the nose lower and it should stable it out.

Anyone doing Quali later?
Just tried the track online, best I can do is a 1.25.000,the rear suspension feels like it's broken in high speed direction changes.

Yah I'm gilty as charged

So how do I hard wire my PS3?

Do I just link my Wi-Fi Router & PS3 w/ CAT5/6 and the two of them will take care of all the proticalls?

Will my Router still transmit to my other devices when it is hard wired to the PS3?

I could sure use some more piece of mind w/ my connecton but my networking skills are a little week so any help would be great........ thankzz

Yeah I'll be working with CSL on getting a stable tune out for it.

Yeah of course your router will still send out wiFI. If it's not too far away from the PS3 then just get a nice Cat6 cable and plug it up. It's pretty simple to set up from the internet options in the PS3 menu from then on.

Also, welcome our newest driver:

You just run a wire from the modem/router to the PS3, it's actually much easier changing to wired than to wireless. You'll of course have to go into "internet connection settings" in your PS3 afterwards, and change to wired, all in all it takes 2 minutes maybe.
I bought a 50ft ethernet cable on Amazon for $5.50, and hopefully between my changes and the update/maintenance, I'm good to go once again.

@ Phil bell - The LSD on my base tune is pretty much what I run within a few points on every RWD car in the game.

Cant race Sundays, so I'm dropping this series. I never made it to begin with. Sorry, if it was a week day it'd be fine. But if I turn my game on at all during a weekend afternoon all I hear is a trash talking woman. Not fun.

Signed up with #36, just hoping I can make as many races as I think I can ;)

Colours may change yet as I'm not really convinced by them, in fact, I think they're pretty bad :( lol.

For anyone still looking for a guide lap time, at Trial Mountain Reverse I have managed a best of 1'20.5xx with the following set-up:

35 / 60 aero

15 / 20
9.5 / 10.0
6 / 5
4 / 5
4 / 4 (Stock)

0.0 / 0.0 (Stock)
0.00 / +0.20 (Stock)

LSD - 10/40/20 (stock)

Brakes - 3/1

Gears set for 195mph.

I haven't tried adjusting everything just yet as I wanted to find my way around the track first, but this is pretty solid at the rear, rather than having the nose too sharp which seems to work well here so far. However, I'm sure I'll play with this in an effort to hit 19's :) Hope this helps,

Welsh.

You and I shouldn't have any lag problems between us since we live in the same city. 👍

Thanks for the lap time. I have a looooong way to go before being in racing shape for this series. Good thing the pre-season was extended.

Wardez, I haven't tried the base tune shown on page 9 of the thread, but I have tried RKM's tune for this car.
