Good, he's an idiot and needs to learn that just cause he is a pro, that things could go wrong and that's why people set up promo events instead. Where this can be done, and people aren't as risk but still get to enjoy some automotive fun. How many times have we shaken our heads when he use to go to Dakar and pull this off in local streets, or in Mexico after a Score event, it's really not acceptable.

Lewis Hamilton "hooned" similarly once, if I recall correctly. He (if not @prisonermonkeys) was lucky not to receive a similar ban! :)

Difference is Hamilton did it once while younger (2008 I think), learned from his mistake and acted accordingly there after. We're talking about Robby Gordon, a man much older who should have grown out of these antics or learned, yet justifies said antics with "well I've done this 200-300 times all over the world". The fact is from the article and a fellow linked article with video, Gordon has done this several times in Australia and enough is enough, especially in a crowded town center, only feet away from people.

I don't know anything about Robby Gordon, but if he's doing stupid garbage like this, by all means - give him the boot.

I was kicked out of a town in central Louisiana once many years ago, but an entire country...that's impressive :D

CAMS and Australia: Where teenagers who have more money than talent can get a super license, yet racing veterans/icons are barred to compete. Makes sense.

One makes no difference to the other. If the teenager takes his race car on to the public highway and starts doing donuts, I'm sure he'd be banned too. It's not the first time Gordon's done this - he did the same between stages on the Dakar, to the point of forcing of road users off the road in avoidence. He's got a complete disregard for anyone else's safety so his ban is entirely deserved.

What he did in Darwin is not deserving of a ban. And my remark was ridiculing CAMS in how they hand out superlicences to teenagers with money and/or famous dads, and not a statement saying that said kid would get away with doing something similar.

From my understanding, the road was empty, and it was deemed okay by organisers and security at the event, so that negates any problem I have with it. Was it unprofessional that he didn't get council approval on it before doing it? Absolutely. Doesn't make it worthy of a total race ban. As Gordon states in the article, he's done it hundreds of times in places and no one ever had any issues. He just did it in the wrong country. It's a nanny state here unfortunately.

I think more events/countries should ban Robby Gordon from driving. He is a toddler who is constantly having tantrums or doing stupid things for no apparent reason. The worst I remember was when he almost killed half of his own team by hitting a support car after the Dakar Rally.

If it was deemed fine, then why did he get banned? Perhaps some evidence to back up this supposed understand would help? Also it's not the first time he's done his routine of "great than thou authority" with CAMS, and gotten punished. The stunt he pulled was the final one in a series that went against CAMS. From what I could see he asked two security guards if it would be fine, what authority do they have to deem him able on public streets, it was an appearance to display his truck and meet and greet at a local bar.
