I am not a musician therefore, in my opinion, it will ruin the experience of double bassing.

I think the people who don't know what double bass is(me) wont care and still would have fun.

Sorry to ruin your fun. :p

Not ruined. How many people will venture on to expert anyway? Do you guys play on Expert in Guitar Hero? Easy, Medium and Hard skips some notes from the actual song to make it easier. The same would apply if said song requires double bass pedals. Not a loss and not all songs need double pedals. One pedal is fine, the same principles apply to the guitar controller. What songs revealed so far need two pedals?

I understand that it's a game, but they did say that on hard/expert setting, you will be really playing the drums, and that if you could do it in the game, you could do it on a real kit. I want to be able to do some blast beats during the Dragonforce song. :D

What songs revealed so far need two pedals?

So far, only one that might have double bass (I've only heard the song once) and that's Rush - Tom Sawyer. Knowing Rush, it will probably have double bass. They will also be releasing some Metallica songs via DLC, so more than likely, those songs would have double bass as well. I know it's not a huge deal, but it would make it more realistic. :indiff: Maybe they will release an extra pedal or maybe have the ability to connect 2 pedals from 2 drum controllers.

edit: And yes, I play expert on GH2.

Dragonforce has not been revealed as a song for Rock Band.

But again. If 4 songs out of 40 need double kickers and 3 are not fun to play and pretty much suck whats the point unless 75% of the track list use them. This is not Drum Hero, and they are not the focal point or even required to play the game. If it where there would be a lot more things to hit.

Best news of the day: It's coming to PS2 also! :D

LEIPZIG, Germany--Previously confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Harmonix announced today that Rock Band will be coming to the venerable PlayStation 2 platform. The PS2 version of the game will feature "many" of the modes of the 360 and PS3 games, and will also incorporate some all-new gameplay elements.
European versions of Rock Band will also be getting localised content for the different countries in the region, both downloadable and on-disc.
The following 10 songs were also announced for Rock Band, and all will be original versions:
Rolling Stones -- “Gimme Shelter”
Deep Purple -- "Highway Star"
The Clash -- “Should I Stay or Should I Go”
Faith No More -- "Epic”
Smashing Pumpkins -- “Cherub Rock”
Radiohead -- “Creep”
Beastie Boys -- “Sabotage”
Jet -- “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”
OK Go -- “Here It Goes Again”
Nine Inch Nails -- “The Hand That Feeds”

Rock Band's on-disc lineup now totals 26 tracks, including Metallica's "Enter Sandman," Nirvana's "In Bloom," and Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive."
The game is scheduled for release in the US on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the 2007 holiday season, and it is meant to be available across Europe from early 2008. For more on the game, check out

I was reading IGN's impressions about the demo they had in the German Games Convention and this caught my attention, not sure if this was known by you guys already:

One thing to note about the 360 version in particular is that if you plan on playing all four instruments, you'll need to separately purchase a USB hub in order to connect all of the instruments as the system only has three USB ports.

I guess the PS2 version will require a hub too, or at least a multitap.

Hm, I didn't realize a PS2 version was available. I'd wager that it will have to have multitap instead of USB connections.

It is BS, and Sony has no control over BT specs... its an industry standard and I've connected many different Bluetooth devices to my PS3 without any problems what so ever.

Sounds like Harmonix is just trying to get people to "double-dip" on their Guitars.

It does seem strange. Under Accessory Settings in the XMB, you can register Bluetooth headsets, remotes, mice, and keyboards. It seems that both Activision and EA are too lazy to produce a Bluetooth guitar. The Wii version of the guitar is just a shell for the remote.

After hearing this, I'm holding out a bit for both games. They probably won't put the BT controller back into the bundle, though. :indiff:

That's a montage of Expert-level songs in Rock Band.

Not to troll the game or anything, but what the hell. Those notecharts are lame. I mean... they're just so simple. I'm playing songs on Medium in GH2 and they're more complicated than that.

And for comparison:

Metallica's One, go to 5:47 for serious ownage.

All three of those are either hard or expert in GH3.

I've been saying it for months. Rock Band is going to be a lame single player game. With 40 songs chosen for their popularity more than the actual playing of the songs for the game. Its also more of a party game, as with 40 not too many difficult looking songs. For me the draw is high number of tracks and enough to please many people. Raining blood is a brutal looking song like may of the leaked videos of the game. I wont be buying Rock Band till spring.

In defensive of Rock Band we haven't seen to hardcore songs yet just the softies. GH3 has lots of hardcore stuff chosen for their difficulty not popularity .Dragonforce's song is not that popular, just stupidly hard even on real guitar.

Oh, and this golden nugget popped up.

Band World Tour (and consequently the endless setlist) doesn't have an online mode. It was something we really wanted in there but the time to do it (and do it right taking into account all sorts of mostly unforeseen but very important things) was seriously prohibitive. It is something we are totally working for in the future as not only do you want to play it but so do we (more than you know). That said we do have our band quickplay and the competitive modes online and it they are amazing. Sorry for the confusion.

There's not going to be any way to form up with your friends online as previously thought and start your own virtual tour. That part of the game will be offline only. You can only hook up with them and play individual songs.

Ugh.

Well to be fair I think what Neversoft have done with Guitar Hero 3 is severely ramped up the difficulty in expert, catering for the more err 'hardcore' players I guess. Whereas Rock band seems to be designed as more of a party game...but then again the expert difficulty is there for a reason.

Learn to Fly and one of the other songs in that montage looked like they could be mid tier expert songs in GH2 to me, and there will probably be other harder ones in there. But obviously GH3 is going to be a much harder game in single player (have you seen the last battle yet? It's insane).

Anyone else hear the bad new's? Turns out it is time exclusive for the 360:( not coming out til Q1 in europe and australasia for the PS3, but still november 20th for the 360. i don't wanna buy anygames for my 360 unless there exclusive, plus it doesn't have enough USB port's anyway. Ohwell atleast the 360 buyer's can act like guinea pig's and find all the bugs:D and hopefully the delay is so that the guitar's arw blue and finally, hopefully PS3 buyer's get a little something special, like any DLC that get's releases in those month's waiting(like oblivion on ps3 etc).

Rock Band will come with a usb hub for 360.

Cool features , too bad all i care about is playing the game...

still, im a bit worrie's about my 360 dieing and would much rather have it for PS3. Also i hate the 360 logo button thing, but tlove the ps button. Plus i hate the green lights. I'm fussy lol. What's the release date in the US?

Last I heard it was November 20th and it seems EA won't meet the the demand. But I hope there is a standalone game with just the guitar next year when i plan on getting it.
