It's 20th of November for Australasia!?!!? Oh my god that is awesome I thought it had been delayed to next year. Rock band parties are so on now, I can't wait.
 
Just got back from playing Rock Band at a kiosk in WalMart. Overall it was pretty good. I only played three songs (2 of them on expert) and only the drums. Other people were whoring the guitar, so I couldn't get a chance to try that. Also, there was no kickpedal with the kiosk, those notes played automatically.

Edit: I forgot the part that makes me mad about it...I was playing the PS3 version. Yup, the one that doesn't come out until several months...
 
Where did you get that info? I thought that was for Europe? Gamestop has it listed at 11/20 and a manager i know says the ps3 version is coming out that day.
 
yep well i went to Eb games the other dat and now the 360 version isnt coming out till late january aswell....However he confirmed to me that GT5:P is coming out in january over here:D
 
i am not sure if you guys are aware of this, but there is a guy that got the game early from a freind and has been posting videos on youtube. here are a few of what i think are the best songs.

Still an expensive single player game and i don't like the hammer on's appearance. Les Paul from GH3 does not work with Rock band so. $160 is hard to swallow for mostly single player. Unless friends want to chip in to hell with them.

Well my roommate bought this earlier today. I've never played any of the Guitar Hero games, but I liked the concept so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've been playing bass most of the time, and it's a lot of fun. There's a good mix of songs in terms of who gets the "hard part". The character customization is a lot of fun, although I would've liked more short hairstyles. I played the singer for a few songs, and it seems to be pretty accurate in listening to your voice, although I'm pretty sure you can get away with just monosyllabically sing the notes rather than actually singing the lyrics. i also tried the drums for a few songs, and the set plays like your basic drum pad, so good enough.

As a newcomer to the series, I must say that they've made it easy to jump in, and it appears that there's still some difficulty.

But I mean drums are more straight foward, I think. Yes on the guitar (real) your hands and fingers do a ton more work then on the GH guitar but it's still fun. With double bass you can't hide it with one pedal you need two pedals to give a fun experience for a double bass passage, you can't half-ass it with one.

You have a great point and I believe there are a few songs for sure that have double bass. I know for a fact "Blackened" by Metallica has double bass. So I wonder how they will do that with the drums. Like you said you cant half-ass double bass. To get the true sound you really need 2 bass pedals and 2 bass drums. The single bass drum with 2 pedals never sounds right. You need the real deal.
I want to get Rock Band but I dont want the entire set just the game. We already have 2 guitars. I dont really want the drums and I dont want the mic.
 
Oh well I just called and they had one copy of Rock Band in and I had them reserve it for me to rent. So I guess I will get to check it out over the holiday weekend. Blackened can be purchase on xboxlive as an entire Metallica pack or just 1 song.
 
^^Lucky you. THe PS3 Guitar does not work with Rock Band so its going to be a pass until I can get the game and guitar for $100 like GH3. I dont mind having two guitars games with to incompatible guitars. I just don't want to pay for things i'll never use(mic) and i have no interest in drums.
 
Just wondering if anyone else bought this game. We rented it and instantly fell in love. 4 players online. Drummer, 2 guitars, and a singer make for some incredible moments. We played for 10 hours straight on saturday!! This game basically consumed most of our holiday weekend.

There are over 60 songs including a Metallica pack that has And Justice For All, Blackened, Ride the Lightning, and Enter Sandman.

We just bought the game for $59.99 since we already had the guitars from Guitar Hero 2. Excellent game and the co-op campaign is extremely long. 👍
 
Went over to play it at a friends house. Was even radder. I was on Vocals. I found I am pretty good at it.. (Except for the garbage song... busted out laughing too much trying to hit the tone you need. I don't sing well like a girl lol) I did best on Enter Sandman, and Dead Or Alive is cool too. Played the drums a little more too, nice setup. I love the ends of the songs where everyone solos at the same time for a bonus. it's a lot of fun.
 
Yeah its a lot of fun on those solo parts at the end. Everyone going crazy on the drums and guitars just hitting the buttons as fast as possible. lol
I also just heard you can use your headset as a mic in Rock Band. Heather is trying it right now on my 360 while I am at work to see how well it does. I never thought of using the headset as a mic.
 
Guys is there anything special you need to do with the mic? I got this for xmas and I plugged in the mic to the 4 port hub and when I went to multiplayer the drums and guitar showed up but no microphone. :( Is it faulty or am I missing/forgetting something?

You need to turn on the hand held controller and then you can use that to control the tone of your voice. Its the only way the mic works is if the controller is on. I tried singing for the first time this weekend and that didnt go real well. I will stick to playing the guitar. :lol: We might pick up the drums some time in the near future too for the heck of it. Had a Rock Band party over christmas break and really could have used the drums.
 
What's the handheld controller look like? :indiff: Are you talking about just the regular 360 controller or what?
 
Ok well my parents took it back thinking the mic was wrong not letting me figure it out and yeah now I know that it's the controller you need to turn on for it to work -_- what a waste. But yeah i'm stoked I did Wanted Dead or Alive on expert drums with 94% it's so fun on expert!
 
This wont be a big deal for the rest of you. I was playing the guitar online on medium and got 100% and 1,000+ note streak with Metallica Enter Sandman. Thats my greatest accomplishment so far in Rock band.
 
So far my best accomplishment would have to be 98%, 437 note streak on expert drums Enter Sandman.

For those that dont know, Rock band has been releasing new DLC every single Tuesday. This means they are now up to 96 songs!!!
I am having another Rock Band lan party this weekend. Not just 1 game and 1 tv either. We are going to have 2 Rock Band games playing on 2 different tvs, 2 different 360s, 4 guitars, the drums, mic, and all the goodies including the beer. One of the tvs is something close to a 50". Going to be good times for sure!! :cheers:

After seeing the thread where someone make the kiss members I decided I wanted to try it out. So I decided to try Ronald McDonald. lol

Took about 2 hours. The face is 19 layers and the "M" took about 13 layers. I was even able to put the M on the guitar and the shirt. I was actually surprised how much you could do with the shape editor in this game. Its obviously not as advanced as Forza 2 but it does a pretty good job.

I picked the closest pants and boots that I could find that would look decent. The boots are also red with yellow laces.


 
Wow is Blackened even possible on expert drums? I got 89% on ...And Justice For All on expert drums.
 
Thanks for the compliments on Ronald McDonald. We had a lan party over the weekend and everyone was using Ronald McDonald for almost every single song. It was Hilarious. :lol::lol:
Thats a good idea about Hamburgler. The only problem is the game wont allow me to make a really fat character. So it wouldnt look right with a skinny Hamburgler. I even thought about making nuggets. lol
