Roll over in GT5

I have a feeling you will sit there for a few seconds, and then just respawn on your wheels. This seems like a cheesy way to do it though, so I don't know.

Might just be the best way for it to happen, too many people will get frustrated if the race ends when they rollover.

I notice there are a lot of barrel rolls in the demo footage of rollovers.

Who here is going to get an Aston Martin and barrel roll it down the streets of London? Velly Jamesh Bon.

I won't have enogh buttons left for a Respawn button! I am using all of them for head lights, horns, and junk!

Yeah, I've already planned this out, because I also need the on the fly tuning options.

Controller or wheel, there's not many buttons left as it stands, and I really want horn and lights!

maybe the tow truck will come and get you. :P

Also, I think there should be a reward for the first person who can successfully pull of a backflip and keep rolling.

yeah...but let's hope it's better than FM3: Hot Pursuit. I mean it's cool that FM3 has rollover, but their rollover physics are OOOOOOLLLLLDDDD

Grand theft auto style.
Just turn left and right a few times and presto! You're back in the race.

I hope GT5 looks something like the AE86. Imagine you are in the middle of a drift session, you drop a back wheel in the gravel, it digs in, and you wipe out EPICLY. :D

FM3 rollover:

Now all we need is GT5 rollover gameplay footage.

Forza was always lacking realistic tyre-to-ground effect.Cars are like flying on the road.Same here.Good, but look very unrealistic. Not Carmageddon ;)

I'm more than sure that GT will have much better looking rollovers.

Probably not, The only reason a drift car would roll like that is because the guy tuning it doesn't know what he's doing. I would assume that a drift car would be even more level footed than a normal race car because it's constantly sliding sideways. What I'd like to see is "drift tires". 'Cause that's what drift cars use. It's a special tire that lets the car slide while keeping a lot of grip and keeping the car from rolling. 'cause if you tried to drift with racing slicks or street tires, you run the risk of there being too much grip and the car would roll. And it'd be a lot more violent than that.

Most drifters can't afford specialised drift tyres, so they do just use old (or new if they can afford it/are sponsored) street tyres. Remember: drifting started with guys on the streets. ;)

And dirt drops are not uncommon, dropping a rear tyre (on purpose or accidentally) off the track. Though it usually happens when the surface next to the track is just dirt or grass, not the sand traps.

And what happens if another car is the cause of you flipping over? (ie an AI or online racer bumps you into a wall, and you end up on your roof). If your race is over because of that, it is going to be very frustrating, especially in a long or difficult race. And I don't think PD would like their players to not have fun while playing. So instead of simply "respawning", I would love for some track marshals to appear from somewhere and roll your car over when the coast is clear, maybe even under safety car conditions.

Another possibility is that the car will be programmed to always land on its wheels, which seems unrealistic so probably won't happen.

Anyway, that's just my thoughts :)

Good point. 👍
Yeah we need more information about that really.

Rolls like that are quite common; sideways going into thick sand at a high speed mostly always results in a rollover, altough this one may have been quite dramatic.
That's why the FIA changed runoff areas from gravel to armac, especially for Formula 1 - if a car travelling at speed digs in when it hits the gravel, intertia can throw it into a roll.

as long as roll overs are as rare as they are in real life then iam OK with them, but as for how to recover afterwards I have no idea how they can achieve that without resorting to a system that reminds you that you are in a game, i.e instant respawn.

I hope roll overs are amazing and look like something out of a movie. But I want them to happen like when they would happen in real life.

me too, and i hope you lose your race if you rollover instead of repawning like in a arcade game....

I'd rather lose the race than respawning, at least to keep the realism.

Wonder if P.D would put a feature that enables us to get back to track.

Don't want to say like this forever:
