very interesting, i want womething with a rotary in it but supposedly they're a ***** to maintain and a hog on gas, plus that whole blow up in your face thing.

None of which is entirely true. If you were to have an FC now you would simply be dealing with standard old car issues. The FD (third gen, 93 - 95 for US) has an even more reliable engine, and the RX-8's RENESIS is quite a nice performer as well as having longevity.

The rotary engine that earned all those horrible reputations is not the same one that Mazda developed. NSU was the company with the bad rotary reputation.

Yea, I can't imagine Mazda releasing the RX-8 rotary being anything less than a good performer.

I agree, the front bumper on a car, isn't a pair of tit's. Icksnay, on the branay.

"i want womething with a rotary in it but supposedly they're a ***** to maintain and a hog on gas, plus that whole blow up in your face thing."

The maintenence isn't unlike any other car. The gas mileage come's down to how much hp your making. My old '93 FD made a little over 400hp to the crank, and got roughly 25mpg on the highway.

The reliability of the engine is again, the same as any other car. If you run the car lean, you'll kill it, same for any engine. The rotary is less forgiving though, one ping can, and probably will toast the apex/coolant seals = engine failure. Great car's, good engine's, definately not a vehicle for those that are careless with tuning.

I like the rotary engine now, it's got the same combustion of a 4 stroke piston engine. Smaller engine, 3 main moving parts, compared to a 4 cylinder, which has at least 40. I'd say you really can't go wrong, except for the fact that due to the oblong shape of the rotary engine, you use up more fuel, which makes it hard to fit the emissions standards.:D

after reading all that, I could teach a class already, lol, thanks for the link on the rotary engines.;)

howstuffworks.com - Is not the place to go to learn about rotary's. The information is %50 wrong. Here are a few link's to place's that know what they're talking about.

iluvmyrx7.com
rotaryengineillustrated.com
nopistons.com - Good rotary forum. Alot of the moderator's for the site have big head's though.
