This really cool picture of the Karts is brought to you by @
Chiochan đź‘Ť

Next Race April 15th, 2014 - 9:00 P.M. Eastern Time

Rules
We expect all drivers to follow our OLR Rules and pursue good racecraft at all times. If you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video. It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the group for you.

Drafting is a large part of Kart racing, as such the top two drivers will not be allowed to 'bump draft' each other. Leap Frog drafting is perfectly fine, though. This will hopefully prevent the drivers out front from driving into the sunset.

When
  • Race Day: Tuesday evenings
  • Race Time: 9:00 P.M. Eastern Time
  • Where: S.N.A.I.L. Weekly Kart Races open lobby
Where
  • Room Name: snailracing.org - Karts
  • Room Number(s): will be posted approximately one half hour before race time.
Karts

    • Racing Kart Jr. ........ (11 HP - 11.0 ft-lb Torque - 378 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Racing Kart 100 SPL .... (23 hp - 12.9 ft-lb Torque - 465 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Racing Kart 100 ........ (23 hp - 12.9 ft-lb Torque - 465 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Racing Kart 125 ........ (30 HP - 15.9 ft-lb Torque - 513 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Red Bull Racing Kart 125 (30 HP - 15.9 ft-lb Torque - 513 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Racing Kart 125 SPL .... (30 HP - 15.9 ft-lb Torque - 511 PP - after engine rebuild)
    • Shifter Kart ........... (51 HP - 19.4 ft-lb Torque - 590 PP - after engine rebuild)
Weekly Format
  • 4 Races (15 minutes each, with a 4-6 minute qualifying session per race)
  • 4 Tracks
  • 1 Kart per week

For GT6 the Karts will be rotated weekly starting with the 125 Shifter Kart. The following week will be the 125's (either of them is fine) the third week being the 100's (again either is fine), then the Jr. Kart. The week after the Jr. Karts we'll revert back to the Shifter Kart to start the rotation again.

Prizes

The top racer from each week wins the right to pick, a new track for the next weeks races. Two other racers will be chosen to pick two more tracks with the fourth track being an oval of some sort.

Transmission tuning is allowed, so any eligible GT6 track can be chosen, with the following exceptions:

Any Cape Ring configuration (too bumpy and the jump is a nightmare in Karts)
Trial Mountain (way too bumpy)

The list of tracks that are allowed (come on PD) or acceptable for this series.

Points
1st - 16 points
2nd - 15 points
3rd - 14 points
4th - 13 points
5th - 12 points
6th - 11 points
7th - 10 points
8th - 9 points
9th - 8 points
10th - 7 points
11th - 6 points
12th - 5 points
13th - 4 points
14th - 3 points
15th - 2 points

Pole position will net you an extra point and getting all four poles will give you a bonus point for a perfect night of 69 points :odd:

N.B. Bump drafting is not allowed between the driver in 1st Place and the Driver in 2nd place at any time during the race. eg. 3rd place can bump 2nd, but 2nd cannot bump 1st. We do this so the first two drivers can't walk away from the field. Hopefully giving us a little closer group at the front.

Settings
  • Boost: Off
  • Penalty: Weak (and Effective for Free Run)
  • Race Finish Delay: 90sec
  • Visible Damage: Off
  • Mechanical Damage: Light
  • Slipstream Strength: Real
  • Tire Wear/Fuel Consumption: Normal

How to join
Post in the thread you want to join.

For the time being we'll be racing in open lobbies. The room name will be posted approximately 1/2 hour before the race.

Why join us
  • Because Karts are sooooo much fun to race and are a great tool for learning how to:
    • race in a pack
    • brake in a straight line
    • see the fastest line in a corner
    • race fast
    • ...
  • Because you want a nice relaxed atmosphere to have some fun times.

Tracks with a strike through are not eligible for selection, because they are either too long, or too rough.

Welcome to the new thread! This week's "winners" are as follows:

1. @doodog222
2. @racingchamp30
3. @Xradkins

You each get to pick one track to run the 125 Karts on. You'll have until Saturday night @6:00 P.M. Eastern to make your selections. We will be running the Twin Ring Motegi Superspeedway for the oval race.

I'm not sure how to get in touch with doodog222, or if he's even a member here. Does anyone know him? If we cannot get in touch with him, @grindsj will get the first pick.

There was a street race in Lockhart, Texas last month. This was the second year held there in downtown Lockhart. It’s turned into quite a community event.

DooDog is on my friends list I'll send him a message.

Just a reminder fellas, we need two more track choices today. If I the winners could kindly make their picks by 6:00 EST we would appreciate that greatly!

Yeah, I figured this one would be new to us. I think it'll be a fun track. I'll probably mess around with it a bit later today.

@dabneyd I figured the gearing for High Speed Ring Reverse is more than likely the same as the regular so I just copied.

Also, for everybody... in the last update PD changed the strength of the tow when set to real. I felt this was quite noticable last week at Motegi SS. We probably do not need as much extra gear as we used to.

One more thing, I think my gearing for Tsukuba may not be conservative enough when in tow. I did more practicing and found myself getting a couple hundred more RPM into T1 than during my initial testing.

Thanks for the time and testing. Really helps a person that "doesn't have a clue" about finding the right setting.
Might tweek it a little, but am dependent on your work. Really appreciate it.
