Allegedly to save weight. Your implication is that it was done for aerodynamic reasons?

No, my allegation is that the bare body saves weight. While not written in the specs, the carbon X1 is lighter than the Vettel.

The specs say that they weigh exactly the same, and they have the same PP.

Does it say anywhere at all that the Carbon weighs less? If I remember the description is the same for all three.

Even if the lack of paint made a difference, it would be very small.

Apparently you don't know why the paint was removed and why that makes a difference either...

Because alot of initial prototypes go unpainted, as the initial paint design generally isn't finalised at that stage.

How much do you think the paint weighs?

They asked if it is different, not if it has a 25 second difference in lap times between the painted and no painted version. My point being, it has been mentioned that the bare carbon version is actually slightly lighter and being that it is lighter, the gt5 physics make it faster.

It looks like it's been assumed with no proof.

Get your bare Carbon Zonda R, Do a 10 laps around a track, record the laptime, find the average, then spray paint it, repeat. That should give you enough proof (Or lack of) to backup your "assumption" about GT5 paint...

The cars immediate specs obviously aren't going to change by painting it in game.

No but what your saying is that there should be a decrease in laptime.

because paint in the 1930s is different from the way they paint cars today. f1 cars dont use stickers for their cars as they arent as aerodynamic. But of course this is all dumb arguments as, even if we assume your statement is true, they didn't bother putting it into the game. Although being dirty might play ever so slightly into aero drag at the top (i think it did in gt3 or 4 so it would now).

to keep the stupid arguments going, how do YOU know that the carbon isnt that color out of the cooker, and that its painted? Maybe the bare carbon has a clearcoat the others dont and therefore is slower.

you guys are being such kids about this....we all know GT5 is a very realistic game but its not that realistic that the paint will affect your perfomance.......i have all three of the x1s and ive driven all of them around indy got the same time and all driven round top gear track all got the same time......yes the vettel version cant change its gear ratios but the true reason why there are 3 x1s is so that people with different styles can have their favourite one......so if you like black stealth looking cars you get the proto......if you like the red bull f1 team you get the vettel.......and if you want one in your own colour you get the 20mill cr. coloured ones......so perfomance is the same just different styles for different people.

I just love how you guys kill each other for the weight of the paint on a fantasy car on a game, when, in GT5, all polycarbonate window kits lessen their weight in 10 Kg over glass, so is with the carbon hoods, and even better, all body kits in this game weight nothing.

Why don't spent 5 laps time on all X car?

i did 5laps on each x1 on indy and on top gear test track and the times were almost identical to each other no difference.....as i said its just a way for people to have their favourite look nothing more than that.

Obviously paint weighs something, and i'm sure all F1 teams take this into consideration when designing a car that needs to meet strict weight regulations but this argument is silly in the world of gran turismo when you have turbos, spoilers and other aero bits, aftermarket (lightweight?) rims, fuel and various other parts that make absolutely no difference to the overall weight of a car.
Definately something they could implement in a future patch or save it for GT6 :)

+1 then playing GT6 will be like driving a real F1 car and those things will matter.......but atm GT5 is not like that so to answer the first post......No there is no difference.....thread can be closed now admins :)

There is a difference. In the Vettel you cannot adjust individual gear ratios, while you can in the prototype and the colours.

i did mention that in my post b4 the other one but reffering to the ridiculous claims that "paint" in GT5 affects perfomance is nonsence

The S. Vettel X1 is crap, and the Prototype X1 is rubbish. Hope that clears it up. :)

Red Bull X1 Prototype (Carbon Fiber) - This is mere fastest, due to its material being carbon fiber. All other specs are the same as the Plain-Color X1.

Plain-Color X1 - Possibly has "restrictions" removed from the S. Vettel, like G-force maximum. Gear ratios are shorter and gearbox is quicker than the S. Vettel, contributing to acceleration.

Red Bull S. Vettel X1 - Maybe has "restrictions", like G-force maximum. Gear ratios are longer and gearbox is a bit slower compared to the Plain-Color.

Red Bull X1 Prototype (Carbon Fiber) -Same as Dealership model, but with no livery (Decals only)

Plain-Color X1 -Long gearing that cannot be fixed into an ideal setting. Same # of downforce as Prototype and S.Vettel.

You may've gotten it mixed up; the S.Vettel has very close ratios, and you can only adjust the final drive ratio to change top speed.

The Colored and Prototype models both have long gearing, which cannot be shortened down to the scale that the S.Vettel reaches.

But the difference is marginal. All can reach the same G-force under max downforce, and all will reach ~483km/h when on the 1556hp cap.

The x2011 is the fastest. :sly:

X2011 is faster, only because of the 5% increase in power from revised fan and aero tweaks.

Well if thats the case you are so weak to drive the bulls. i get such a workout with full force feedback.

I hear that doesn't last when driving X1's but more power to you.

I, like many people here, don't have a steering wheel. Here's hoping you think about what you're going to post before you do so, abuse towards others on GTP is frowned upon quite a bit.

How do you guys get the x2010 Carbon >.<
I'm new to GT5 and the S.Vettel challenge is so hard ....
I got a X2010 through level 35 B-spec .
so the one I got is consider the "OK" model of all 3 x2010

I bought a X2011 from the DLC last month .
X2011 comparing to these 3 model? which one is da best ?
Thanks guys.

I am sarry if you think that.you are saying that the fastest and strongest car.is no good well if it makes you stronger and taking your mind off the pain just like the wii dos.and you only came on to this thread to bahhumbug the redbull.so by giving your opinion in the harshest way possible might give peaple the wrong impression of the redbull.

Or the right one. Most of the forum either doesn't care for the car, or they just outright don't like it. If you like it, that's fine, but you will have to defend it plenty...

My main point is if someone who hasn't driven it is looking forward to the best racing experience ever, they'll likely end up making a thread about how unnecessary it is.

So quit the hostility. Also, clean up your grammar.

They have to put a clearcoat over the Carbon Fiber or else it will create loads of drag since bare carbon fiber is far from having the best surface ever aerodynamically.

Also, if there was any difference what so ever in the weight due to the paint, it would be shown in the specs of the car, but since the three have the same weight, they are all identical. The only notable difference in performance is the gearbox.

just to make it clear:

- how many x2010 types are in the game, and how do you get them?

- is the 20m cr x2010 obtainable in the s.vettel challenge? It's the only car I haven't bought in the NCD.

- I have 3 x2010 and I guess those are the same: lvl35, bronze s.vettel challenge and suzuka (gift).

also it seems like i'll finally have to do the effort to gold that challenge. Which are the best car settings for that? My guess would be manual transmission, abs 1, srf on, everything else off.
I'll be using a g27, so i assume ffb 1 in order to not destroy the wheel, and maybe power steering. Also I could use a ds3 if that's the easier way (sensitivity 7 obviously)

is that all you can say.svettel is the fastest
