GT5P S-Class tuning guide and car guide, plus minimum car list that's required for all C, B, A, and S events (list in post 4 below).

The purpose here is to provide tunes for those who are new to the S-Class or those who are having trouble clearing them.

Let me start by saying that if you're having trouble with the S-Class events and you haven't done the Spec III update, then go online and do the update. These events are much easier in Spec III than Spec II. Also, they changed the PP on the S events in the Spec III update so these tunes will only work for Spec III.

If you don't want to (or can't) do the Spec III update, go here for a Spec II tune: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3134968&postcount=78

If you find any of these tunes helpful please let me know. It's always nice to hear success stories.

Feel free to post your modifications to my tunes or your own tunes. All tunes are welcome here, as long as they are specific to the offline (C, B, A, S) races.

There are a few cars that will work for almost all of the S-Class events (except the ones that require a particular car). The Clio Tuned, Ferrari California, Mines, GT06, and Corvette Tuned will gold all S events with ease. I posted tunes for the Clio T for most events because that's what I used. Most of my S10 tunes can be used in the other events by adjusting power and weight to make PP. Some adjustments to gear ratios may also be helpful but not absolutely necessary.

Using these tunes I have gotten gold in all S Class races multiple times. If you don't get it at first just keep at it. Remember, smooth is fast.

I don't claim to be either a good driver or a good tuner, so if I can get gold with these tunes then just about anybody should be able to.

I use a Driving Force GT wheel. My driving style is aggressive, and I like my cars a bit on the loose side so I can drive with the throttle as well as the wheel.

All of these tunes were done with Standard Physics. They are likely to be too loose with Pro.
Edit: I have added S7/S10 Pro Physics tunes for the Tuned Vette and Mines here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3186437&postcount=10
and S1/S2/S4/S5/S9 Ferrari California Pro Physics tunes here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180905&postcount=5

I almost always use manual transmission. Auto trans tunes for S7/S10 can be found here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3210553&postcount=32

I usually use ABS off because I always get shorter braking distance when ABS is off. You will find your braking points will be off if you are used to using ABS.

S1 - High Speed Ring - 700PP

Tuned Clio - This car rapes this event. It's so much faster than the AI cars that it's a joke.

Manual Transmission, shift near the rev limit.

Weight: 85%
Tires: R1 (Event Specified)
Aero: Rear 14
Height: -6 -6
Springs: 4 4
Dampers: 5 5
Toe: +0.06 +0.30
Camber: 1.4 0.8

Max Turn: 40
ABS: off (a setting of 1 can be used for a slight reduction in speed, but a big increase in stability)
TCS: off

2: 1.716
3: 1.334
4: 1.087
5: 0.909

Brakes: 6 3
Max Turn: 40
ABS: off (a setting of 1 can be used for a slight increase in braking distance, but a significant increase in stability)
TCS: 1 (this much power with S3 tires is very prone to wheelspin)

S4 - Daytona Road - 700PP

Tuned Clio (Be very careful going into turn one, cause it's touchy. Keep some throttle and use gentle brake. Don't try to go in as fast as the AI cars do. You'll make up the time around the rest of the track.)

Manual Transmission, shift near the rev limit.
Power: +25%
Weight: 85%
Tires: R1 (Event Specified)
Aero: Rear 14

S5 - High Speed Ring Reverse - 680PP

Tuned Clio (This tune only reaches 673pp but it's still way faster than the AI cars)

Tires: S3 (Event Specified)
Aero: Rear 10
Height: -6 -6
Springs: 4 4
Dampers: 5 5
Toe: +0.06 +0.30
Camber: 1.4 0.8
Brakes: 6 3
Max Turn: 40
ABS: off (a setting of 1 can be used for a slight increase in braking distance, but a significant increase in stability)
TCS: off (You can use 1 if you're getting too much wheelspin. But the fastest way around is to use throttle modulation to control wheelspin.)

Gears:
1: 2.712
2: 1.716
3: 1.360
4: 1.098
5: 0.909
6: 0.761
F: 4.072

S6 - Suzuka - F40 Mission Race

This tune is certainly not perfect. Be VERY careful with the throttle cause this car will spin in a heartbeat if too much throttle is applied with the rear sliding. Pick up the throttle as early as possible in the corners to prevent spinning.

I found it easier to use auto transmission with this race because I was so busy cutting through traffic that I kept hitting the rev limiter. The rev limit is barely above the redline so you only have a fraction of a second to shift after the shift light blinks.

In Spec I and II you couldn't touch the AI cars but now you can beat on them pretty hard. Just don't run into the back of the AI cars. It slows you way down, and you have to carry maximum speed all the time to beat this race.

Auto Transmission
Power: -18%

Tires: S3 (Event Specified)
Aero: Rear 5 (fixed)
Height: -8 -8
Springs: 3 4
Dampers: 3 3
Toe: +0.10 +0.50
Camber: 1.8 0.9
Brakes: 5 2
Max Turn: 50 (try using less if the steering is too sensitive)
ABS: off (a setting of 1 can be used for a slight increase in braking distance, but a significant increase in stability)
TCS: off (or you can try 1 but it will kill your accelleration off the corners)

Gears:
1: 2.346
2: 1.765
3: 1.349
4: 1.068
5: 0.846

S7 - Fuji - 750PP The S10 tunes in post #9 below will also work great for S7, but may require a small adjustment to final gear so you don't hit the rev limiter on the straight.

Your tune settings for S-1, S-2, S-4, S-5 worked! Feels good to finally clear those races. Used a controller and still won. Thanks!

Here is the minimum list of cars needed to beat all the C, B, A, and S events. Every car on this list is required for at least 1 event. This list shows how to complete all the offline events with only those cars that you MUST buy. It is not meant as a list of the "best" cars for all the events, although the Integra really is the best car to begin the game with.

First is the list of cars you must buy and the races they are required for. Then the event list and the cars from the list I recommend you use. It's fairly easy (with standard physics) to beat all the events with just the 9 cars that you are required to buy.

Suzuki Cappuccino - C3
Honda Integra - C8 B6
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR - B3
Nissan R35 GT-R 07 - B8
BMW M3 - A3
Ferrari F430 - A8
Mine's R34 Skyline - S3
Ferrari F40 - S6
Ford GT 06 - S8

C1 - Honda Integra
C2 - Suzuki Cappuccino
C3 - Suzuki Cappuccino
C4 - Honda Integra
C5 - Honda Integra
C6 - Suzuki Cappuccino
C7 - Honda Integra
C8 - Honda Integra
C9 - Honda Integra
C10 - Honda Integra

B1 - Honda Integra
B2 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR
B3 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR
B4 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR
B5 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR
B6 - Honda Integra
B7 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR
B8 - Nissan R35 GT-R 07
B9 - Nissan R35 GT-R 07 (the Evo IX will win this race but it takes alot more work)
B10 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR

A1 - Nissan R35 GT-R 07
A2 - Ford GT 06
A3 - BMW M3
A4 - Ford GT 06 is fastest, but you may want to use the GT-R 07 or the Mine's if you're not comfortable in the GT 06.
A5 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR (This car is the only one from the list that qualifies for this event. It will win this race, but that NSX is going to make you earn it. If you don't get gold you can come back after you complete the A events and use quicktune to make your car alot faster and beat it fairly easy. Settings listed below. You can also use the Skyline Concept that you win, but you don't win it until after you complete the A events...)
A6 - Ford GT 06
A7 - Ford GT 06 but the GT-R 07 or the Mine's are about equal in speed if you're not comfortable in the GT 06.
A8 - Ferrari F430
A9 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX GSR (This car is the only one from the list that qualifies for this event. It will win this race, but catching the NSX and WRX requires you to use everything this car has. No mistakes. If you don't get gold you can come back after you complete the A events and use quicktune to make your car alot faster and beat it fairly easy. Settings listed below. You can also use the Skyline Concept that you win, but you don't win it until after you complete the A events...)
A10 - Ford GT 06 is fastest, but you may want to use the GT-R 07 or the Mine's if you're not comfortable in the GT 06.

S1 - Mine's R34 Skyline, Ford GT 06, GT-R 07
S2 - Mine's R34 Skyline, Ford GT 06, GT-R 07

S6 - Ferrari F40
S7 - Mine's R34 Skyline, Ford GT 06, GT-R 07
S8 - Ford GT 06
S9 - Ford GT 06
S10 - Mine's R34 Skyline, Ford GT 06, GT-R 07

S Class Pro Tunes

Finally decided to do a list of S-class pro tunes. Maybe a little late...

I'm going with the Ferrari California for this list (except for the races that require a specific car and S7/S10, for which I already did a Tuned Vette setup).

The 680PP settings are all the same, and the 700PP settings are the same. The differences between 680 and 700 tunes are slight. Just some gearing and power.

The California beats these pretty easy even on pro. Just remember that you can't bury the throttle coming off the corners in pro physics. lol

All of these tunes were done with Standard Physics.

did you get gold at all events with pro physics aswell?

cos i played the s class on pro physics during spec 1. and tried some later on, on standard physics (also spec 1)and it was much easier then. imo you got to play this game at pro physics. otherwise you will go down in the online expert events.

but, how am i.

My purpose in creating and posting these standard physics tunes is to help those who are struggling to get through the S-Class. Whether or not I've completed the races with pro physics is completely irrelevant to this.

s2k, thanks for taking the time to sort this out and share it. I'll be on and off through the weekend between college ball games setting up for the events I still need to clear and I'll post some feedback throughout the process.

As promised here are the tunes for all the cars I've gotten gold in S10 with. Usually I took the lead on lap 3. The GT-R was lap 4. The Mines was lap 2!

Consider these tunes a starting point. For those who's driving style is similar to mine (agressive, tossing the car into corners and sliding through the apex) these tunes should work.

If you find any of these tunes helpful please let me know.

Pad users give the Blitz a try. It's very stable, and works well with auto transmission.

I included my best laps in testing. These are not the best I could do, but the best I did in that session. These times usually happened with some drafting help.

With these tunes both ABS and TCS will slow you down. ABS slows you down a little, but gives you more stability. TCS slows you down alot, and gives you nothing but frustration.

Mines - I used to think this was the best of the S10 tunes I've done. It's still a great tune but others are as fast, or even a bit faster.
Best Lap: 1:56.624 with several other laps of 1:57.xxx.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS4lcbZgBfM

I have tweaked the setup a tiny bit and managed a lap of 1'55.556 with no traffic. I never thought I'd run a 1'55 with a 750PP car.

GT06 This tune is for the adventurous. The GT06 has very little downforce, so it really slides in the corners. It's plenty fast and beats S10 easy, but it's just not well behaved. ;)
Best Lap: 1:58.4xx

Update: I found a much better combination for the GT06. It's more stable and just plain faster. It's my favorite S10 car now. It's still got no downforce and it's still a MR car so it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm absolutely in love with this car and this tune. I've even used it to win some 750PP online races. I wish I could see the faces of those guys in their GT LMs, S2000s, Tuned Vettes etc when a "stock" GT06 beats em. :D

Great thread! 👍 I was going to do an S-pack of tunes myself, but you appear to have things sorted here rather nicely, so I'll just focus on other things instead. :)

I'm going to give all these a shot. I am pitiful at S10 probably because I am not a good driver. When I try to be agressive, I end up losing the back end (GT LM mostly) and when I try to be smooth, I end up being slow too.

Try braking more going into the corner and picking up the throttle earlier. That helps to keep MR cars like the LM in line. If you don't use TCS (and I don't) then you may have to use part throttle coming off the corner until your front wheels are straight. Never lift completely off the throttle in a corner or you'll lose it for sure.

Don't look at the corner. Look through the corner. Your eyes should always be where you're going next, not where you are now.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to try the Amuse again and see how I do there. Are you breaking and throttling at the same time? I don't use any helps except ABS 1 and I am on Standard becasue I feel that it compensates for the fact I can't feel the G forces while driving for feedback (I have a DFGT). If the pro model would actually give me better times, I can go back to it, but I was way loose on it and couldn't make it through the first turns without being in the dirt or facing traffic. Maybe I just need more practice on the feel of Pro.

I think you'll be faster in standard mode. If you look at the TT times you'll see that standard times are faster than pro times. My tunes were done for standard physics.

If you use my tunes try turning ABS off. Most of my tunes were done with ABS off. Each tune states ABS off or ABS 1.

With all the cars there are points where I use throttle and brake together, like turn 1 and the spoon. For Degner I brake going in to the curve but pick up the throttle as I turn in, always ready to countersteer if the rear gets light.

I hold 3rd gear through the S's, even if I bump the rev limiter. I find it's faster than shifting.

I like the S2000, but the Mines is my fastest S10 tune. I find it easier to control than the Amuse as well. She may not be the pertiest gal at the dance, but that girl can cut a rug!

Playing with the Mines again last night I ran a 1:57.836 and 1:57.977 on laps 4 and 5 with no traffic (and no draft). This car just flat flys at Suzuka in Spec III.

I laugh at this now because I thought this was so fast when I ran it. But both the tune and my driving are better now.

I gave the Mines a try in S7 (Fuji) but I was slower than the Amuse. Probably a combination of the 7th gear in the Amuse which means I can keep the gears nice and close, and also that the Mines has more turbo lag, so I need to pick up the throttle earlier to keep the rear in line in the tight corners. Of course the Mines still takes the lead on lap 2, just 2 corners later than the Amuse. :sly:

Boom for me too on the Mine's! I only got thrid becasue I let the Vette get too far ahead in getting through trafic, but I was right on 2nd's butt until I screwed up the turns before the last long straight away (I don't know the turns names, where do I find that out?). I got in the dirt some and couldn't draft him down the back straight into the final 2 hairpin turns (wrong name again, I know!). Regardless, I got the bronze and with the pressure to pass off, I bet I can get gold soon. Right now I am going to be running circles around Daytona and possibly online to get the credits for the F2007. Thanks!

In an effort to make the Mines tune even better, and especially more stable and easier to drive, I took away a little power and added some downforce. To say I am stunned by the result is an understatement. This car just slashes through traffic now. Nothing I've driven in this event comes close. On my very first run I ran a 1'56.624 on my second lap in traffic and took the lead on lap 2.

All I did was take the power down to -4 and change the aero to 15/32. I posted the new tune in post #9.

Video of the run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tS4lcbZgBfM

Just a little tip, if you havent already noticed... but when tuning the Mines in the 750 range its best to lower the power. If you take a look at the graphs when you lower the power in this range the torque goes up.... you would expect it to be the other way around, but its not... take a look if you havent already... might make you go even quicker! ;) 👍

-edit: This list is really handy by the way.... breezing through the S class now :)

Yup, I always watch the torque curve when I'm setting power. The Mines has a very flat torque curve with the power set to "0", which is why my original tune had a power of +1.

Cool! :) just sharing some knowledge :dopey: Got through S class now thanks to your list... I liked the all-round tune you had for the Clio... worked out nice! 👍

Added a S10 tune for the GT06. This one is a bit squirrely. It will bite you if you lose focus. On the last lap I lost it in 130R and smacked the wall. No problem since I was pretty far ahead by that time. :D

Fast and Fun!

Thank you for al those setups S2k2k3 :).

The first setup I tried was for the S1 with the Clio and it worked but only in can't understand who you can race with ABS and TCS off. I got a lot of wheelspin. And even when i put ABS at 1, it is still very hard to control the car, especially in slow corners. I race with a Sixaxis-controller, maybe that is the problem, or I just don't try often enough....

Thanks for pointing out the error. I used alot of copy and paste when I was making the list. I fixed it.

As far ABS and TCS, they both slow you down. ABS=1 will force you to brake earlier and you lose alot of opportunities to outbrake other cars. TCS=1 will bog your engine coming off of corners, killing your accelleration.

Keeping in mind I drive with wheel, so I'm in no position to give advice to pad users...

The secret to driving without ABS is to set your brake bias to the point where you don't lock up with full braking.

The secret to driving without TCS is to ease into the throttle coming off of corners. For most S-class races the car isn't powerful enough to blow away the tires. Remember that you usually need some throttle to keep the rear in line mid-corner. Sometimes you need full throttle mid-corner to keep the rear in line.

Degner at Suzuka is a place where you can loose the rear easy coming off the corner, so brake hard going in and pick up the throttle early to keep the rear from sliding coming off.

Going into turn 1 and the spoon, keep some throttle on to keep the rear from coming around.
