Ok-- I'm not going go give any spoilers (not that I've done alot yet)
but so far SA has been pretty cool but it is a bit different then III or VC-- first of all, unless I'm an idiot, you can't use your D-pad to steer CJ on the ground or in vehicles-- you have to use the left analog stick-- taking some getting used to.
First difference-- the language in the "hood" is pretty bad-- F word has been used at least 8 times in cut scenes so far.
You start of on Los Santos and it is freakin huge so finding hidden stuff is going to a chore without a guide-- there are 3 different hidden things (no packages)-- I forget what they are although one of them was "hidden clams"-- 2 of them have 50 each and 1 has 100 (so 200 hidden items to find--if I remember correctly)-- I didn't notice rampages in the stats (not that they don't exist)-- there are 70 unique jumps (I've got 1 so far) and it has broken it down into ones you have found and ones you have done.
They made the stat screen quite different--they broke it down into several categories so there are stat screens (plural)-- will help organize the SA recordbook so 👍 but distance travelled is in FEET-- I don't know why they did that...
I did go off roading on a Sanchez and that was fun just riding up and down hills and stuff-- you really get going fast down hills.
I'm not sure but if you go really fast on the PCJ-- stuff starts getting blurry-- I'm not sure if its supposed to simulate the wind on your face (drying your eyes) and I don't know if you get a helmet later--
I didn't mess around with the BMX bike too much yet.
I've only done a few intro missions so far-- nothing too hard
I'm not too fond of the map yet--it seems a little hard to see icons and stuff but they did add a cool feature to this-- you can set a guide point on the main map that will show up on your HUD map-- helps you avoid getting lost-- which is going to be a problem for a while.
I haven't listened to the radio too much yet I still haven't heard Lazlo yet--did they bring to SA??? Music has been ok so far-- hard to beat VCs--- I did hear some reference about the "austrailian war" on one station---
Anyway-- I've driven around mostly exploring so far.
Looks like this one is going to be a killer to get 100%--
Anyway-- I'd appreciate other people's general observations but remember to not post any spoilers-- this is for general discussion only--no specifics.
Thanks
Spuds
EDIT
I forgot to add, when I went to start my game my PS2 started making the oddest clicking sound and I could not get it to read any of my games or DVDs--- to make a long story short, I left and went and bought a new PS2 (the new type)--- this thing is small (extremely portable) and top loads instead of a drawer. Plays ok so far... anyway--- I've spent $220 (US) to play San Andreas so far....
