Heavy Rain. Especially if you do the mall scene again after you've finished the rest of the game. Also MGS4 at some points.

Silent Hill 2. I can't say it was actually "sad" to me, but it definitely left an "empty" feeling that stuck with me for a few days.

Agree there. It had multiple endings if I remember correctly.

My guy drove off a cliff. Err not sure if I really wanted that to happen.

When you wanted to quit Croc on PS1, the character walk would slowly across the screen, look at you and he had a tear in his eye, then walk off. So sad.

Mafia. Great game, one of my favourites. And the plot is amazing and sad at some points, especially the ending:(

Final fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Heavy Rain was very emotional throughout and very intense... The 1st time I didnt get a very good ending :( but my second ending was better!

Lancia Stratos, Lambo Countach, TVR Speed 12, rapresented with ugly standard models. And once again the lack of a livery editor. That made me sad for a while when I bought GT5.

MGS 3, during the ending when Snake finds out his whole mission was a giant lie.

Uh no spoilers in that statement is there lol.

"Snake's" mission is always a lie. No spoiler there.

The cake is a lie.

The ending of Halo Reach was kind of sad. The fact that nobody would come for you in the end, despite all you had done to save everyone.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Very emotional moment. I also really loved the music then too.

I forgot about that. People can give that game crap all they want... but that part gave me chills. Very intense. Very emotional.

An emotional part indeed. The music sets the tone perfectly.👍
Medal Of Honor - All Rounds Expended

Prince Of Persia (2008) ending made me a bit sad in more ways than one.

For me, no other mainstream FPS game even comes close to the emotional kick that MoH had. When I played some CoD campaigns, I didn't give a crap. The Bad Company series isn't bad, but it's more entertaining than emotional. Even though MoH was incredibly short, it was pretty good.

Caz
Red dead redemption deserves to be up here as well.

The saddest part of that game is
having to deal with his stupid ass son after he died and hear "work ye damn nag" over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Killed the fun of replay value.

The McRae tribute video at the end of dirt2 was sad.

Funny you mention that, just got to it today. I actually already knew about it, and wanted to save it for last and be the last thing I do in DiRT 2, but the stupid game won't unlock the last two events until I did, so anyway. It's a cool little tribute, wish it was longer.

But to the thread, that's kinda cheating though, being real life sadness.

Medal Of Honor 2011(before the apache's come in)

I agree...
It was such a tough fight and the amount of enemy combatants was overwhelming, I genuinely thought that the player character and his team were going to be killed.

Also, at the end...
Rabbit slowly fading in and out of consciousness while the team tried to keep him alive was a very sad scene.

End of MGS4. Really sad.

Big Boss (AKA Naked Snake) dies during a family reunion at the cemetery.

What I found quite shocking was when it appeared that (S)ol(i)d Snake had committed suicide. He didn't go through with it, but it was still sad that Snake didn't have much life left in him and was going to die soon after MGS4.

Heavy Rain

When I finished the game, the kid had died and Ethan hung himself in his prison cell, which was really deep for a videogame.

Roman's death in the Deal ending was a surprise and it felt sad because he hadn't intended to do anything wrong, he was just a friendly bloke who kept falling in with the wrong crowd. It soon became very satisfying to extract vengence upon Roman's killers.

I'm getting confused is this a sad, crap game thread (as I thought) or is it an emotional sad game thread.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers 2. (Time, Darkness, and Sky)

Dang...never in my life did I think a Pokemon game would make me emotional, but this one did. Then again, the end of the story was a tragic one, totally opposite from what I expected from a Pokemon game when I first started playing. The music doesn't make things better either.

Baffeled nobody mentionned :

Shadow of the collossus

Agro's great fall! And the end, oh the end. The little details (like Agro's limp) make it just perfect.

SotC is an amazing story with a moving and genuinely thought provoking ending.

I'm looking forward to the 'remastered' version.

I am going to be a strange guy and mention that a trailer or a video that pops up before you play the game proper, which was a bit sad/emotional/surprising.

Its from Euthusia.

While its a bit weird to watch the whole way through, it was more of the last 30 - 45 seconds of the video that was strangely powerful. Obviously, when I first put the game in, I totally was not expecting that at all (as other racing games are... bland), but as a Opening Video, it was definitely something VERY different
