...But let's be realistic about this. The event is still 11 days away...

Jeff, my dear friend... even if you post the track 11 years in advanced I still wouldn't be as fast as Alan! :dopey:

But, non-sense apart, I fully understand what you are saying and you're right!

(non-sense mode on) UNLESS!... you would pm us the tracks and, just to keep things even, we only let Alan know about them 5 minutes before the event starts!! :trouble:(non-sense mode off)

Well to be completely honest, the sooner the circuits are announced, the better the chance to have a more closely matched field.

Take Silverstone-National from the previous event. I practiced for around an hour over a couple of days, and after that I was pretty much as fast as I was going to go (and bored of just doing that car/track!). And the next week or so was spent with either no improvement, or just not driving that one. So personally t's never the case that I'm consistently knocking a few tenths of every day over several days.

I know from Henrick, and MHailwood especially, they seem to do a short practice and immediately put in a very fast lap, which is not improved much after that.

So whether the circuits are announced today, or 1 day before the event, personally I feel my pace will be pretty much the same. And given I seem to play this game more than most on this forum, my circuit knowledge is pretty good, so that's just another advantage to me over some people.

It might be difficult to change your mind on it Jeff! "...will be doing laps within hours" - Yeah that's absolutely true. But within hours after that, personally I won't really be improving! Whereas some others who don't know the circuits as well, could be improving, sharing setup ideas, discuss driving lines etc.

Nice try Alan, but it's not going to work. ;)

EDIT: Kidding aside, I will try and add them in (sooner rather than later) but honestly, it's been a very busy week work wise and I haven't turned the PS3 on since the weekend. I just wanted to run a few tracks and try a few things before I made up my mind.

Just got this game a wile ago ( about 2 weeks ) .. getting use to the awesome feel of this .. was scratching all over then web for some other guys playing this and never knew to look at GT planet *slaps forehead* .. (started to think that i was in fact one of the only ppl that has this) .. lol

Would love to join you guys online sometime .. i find if you join just some random lobby one of two things happen a) get booted right away before you even start racing or b) enter a destruction durby race , were every one just drives as they want .. and if you in the way will just bash you off the road .. very frustrating .. and when they start losing and cant catch up . they will stop turn around and drive the track in reverse just to bash you again !! .. wts .

Hope to catch you guys online sometime ..

We already play with some ZA dude-Chiledant-since fc time so your welcome (and your team m8 also to my lobby) just add me in.PSN ID-arvore

Yeah it could...:nervous: about the new game i don't think it will includ them either since like you say and judging from the rumours
it will
be a touring car game.

But if it helps at all, I can tell, don't waste time practicing on Paul Ricard. :sly:

Jeff i see Paul Ricard is yours hate track but besides the off track incursions-like in California- i think overall it's a nice challeging track with a nice combination of quick and slow corners very tactical with few clean surpasses points and fun to drive in so it should't be completly disregarded in your personal (wich i completly respect by the way) tracks choice for the events you put up:tup:

Opinions anyone else????Alan???:)Mario???:)anyone???

I have only one thing to say about Paul Ricard. And I have to say it because it's unprintable.

...And I have to say it because it's unprintable.

Paul Ricard is a very technical track, one of those where the fastest line is not the obvious out-in-out line. And is a track where (at least in FC, not sure about SCC) the AI cars can teach the human players some lessons. Especially in the second half mentioned by Alan.

About me liking or disliking it ... overall, I dislike it. Doesn't "flow" right.

Sold the broken vertical 330p4 car and bought a new one. I like it. It's very similar to the 512s, but is more balanced with cornering. The 512s are a bit unresponsive when entering corners/beginning to change direction, but after they start turning they corner very well. The 330p4 seems to turn in the same, but has a much more predictable mid-corner speed.

About Paul Ricard: I don't dislike the track. It can be very confusing the first couple of times you drive on it, because of all those off track blue stripes, but i find it challenging, specially those 3 longer turns sequence (right, right, left), that change radius at the middle. The one I have most difficulty in is the last one (left). Even AI cars seem unsure about it, some start dealing with it on the outside, others on the inside.

That is why the track is so challenging...the quick long right turn and the slow right turn before the finish line straight make all the difference:dopey:

Had the some annoying bug had to sell the p4 and customize it all again:nervous::nervous::nervous:but it payed off because it has great handling and speed for an old car and allows great racing like we did last night!!!cheers m8:):)

* Bump *

I've added the tracks to the Original Post on page one. (Sorry it took so long. It's been a crazy week and I'm still getting over being sick). Although it was a difficult decision to make, I've decided to run this next round in a closed, private lobby. There was simply too much disruption last time with punters joining who did nothing but try to run people off the road and it's an experience I'm not eager to repeat. If you're interested in taking part, please express your intentions by posting below with your PSN ID. If I seen any 'regulars' on-line before the event starts, I'll send you an invite anyway.

hi guys
here is a timeframe for the start of the race.hope i got all relavant times

Yesterday night I was doing some laps on several tracks practicing for the event and I tested Nurburgring and Riviera. At the end I said to myself - I hope these won't be in!...

So, attending my prayers Jeff did not only include them, but as well, to prolong my pain, add a 15 lap race at Riviera rainning. Jeff, you're the man!! :grumpy:

My goal for this event will be ending before being overlapped by all other drivers!

 I'm a little weak at the Nurburgring myself. I kind of shied away from it in the beta as I thought it made more sense to concentrate on a track which I knew (Spa). It's a challenge with this car. And the 330's tall gearing means a drop down to 1st gear for several corners that would be 2nd for many other cars and the goal is to find a setup that allows you to put that power down. I did about 10-12 practice laps yesterday and felt I was finally getting a feel for it. I know I can shave a bit more here or there if I really work on it. But doing it consistently will be tough. I'm hoping for a mid-pack finish. ;)

Riviera in the wet with this car is quite a challenge. In the dry taking the high speed right-left sweeper is easy. In the wet, it becomes as dangerous as the long series of decreasing radius corners at Misano. Get it right and it's beautiful. Get it wrong and you're into the wall. Making a few serious mistakes at this track that leave you facing the wrong direction could potentially have you way back in the running. But so long as you can stay out of trouble and run laps close to the 2 minute mark, I doubt you'll be lapped, even in 15 laps.

Biggles: I don't remember the order but I thought it was one of the first 3-5 cars to be unlocked when running in Challenge mode. I think you have to accumulate a certain number of 'race points' which you earn by running the Challenge series. And unlike Ferrari Challenge, SCC allows you to run the Challenge events in whatever car you choose. So it's a bit more interesting.

I did want to point out that SCC allows you to run any of the cars in the game on-line whether you've unlocked them or purchased them or not. So if you haven't unlocked this car by the weekend, you can still join the lobby and race with us. But unlike Ferrari Challenge, SCC does also allow you to change the setup (in limited ways). And unless you're an Alien, it's hard to be really competitive against the top guys at some tracks if you go in with a stock setup.

Edit: My point being, unless you purchase the car you can NOT make setup changes.

Of course it should, you're a world class driver ;)

Anyway, if you really want the P4, do the following:

- Pick challenge mode and get as many RP points as you can.
- if by the time you get the car unlocked you don'ty have enough money (I think the P4 is 90.000, I also don't have it bought yet) you can do one of the following:

a) use the secret code to get the Moss SLR and the 599 XX and sell them.

b) use the secret code, then use the 599 XX to do quick 1 lap races at one of the ovals. That's 5.250 Cr. in less than a minute, so it should be easy to get those 90.000

btw, un-tuned cars aren't THAT slower and you can practise online with the P4, even if you want to be alone. Unlike FC, SCC (as already happened in the beta) allows for online racing alone.

Weren't you the one saying Supercar Challenge was just Ferrari Challenge in a clean shirt? ;) You have a whole week. What's your worry? :sly:

Don't feel too badly. Assuming your affair with Shift didn't dull your reflexes, you should be able to feel at home with the handling and learn the new tracks in a few days. And I'm sure you'll be as quick as ever. (Meaning I'll probably finish behind you, as usual. :grumpy:) But finding a setup that works is something I struggle with too. At least with Ferrari Challenge when somebody was faster, you KNEW they were simply faster. Tough on the ego but clear cut. But now when somebody pulls on you, there's always a certain element of doubt if maybe you just got the setup all wrong. I can tell you my performance at Montreal in the 250 GTO event was one of the most humbling and humiliating of my on-line career. At a track that I normally go exceedingly well, I couldn't put a wheel right all race. And even with Mario driving like a drunk ferret in front of me, (Sorry Mario) I STILL couldn't catch him. Not surprisingly, I found that I went in a very different direction set-up wise than everybody else in the lobby. And it showed.

But you'll probably also find that what works well on one track might not work very well on another. So it's all about finding a compromise. Come to think of it, you better get cracking. There isn't much time.

When trying out different setup settings, I recommend finding the shortest/least-corners circuit. For SCC it's probably Silverstone National. Even though it's not on this event list, it's a very good circuit for setups as it's one of the easiest to be consistent on. This is especially important since Eutechnyx/System3 (I dunno who to blame) never thought of putting split-times in circuits.

I WAS drunk ... and thinking "wow ... have to stop drinking, jjaisli being behind me with the 🤬 driving I'm making can only mean I'm drunk to the point of being also delirious!"

Alan, I think the best test-track is the sports Mugello, you have a great variety of corners and elevation changes in a very short track.

And Biggles don't be worry because there's always someone who's going to be behind you... (I wonder who...)

So... let's talk about driving.... who's up for some practice sessions tonight, now that we have the 'full calendar' for the event set-up?

Mario... don't you have enough money already? (you greedy little... :D)

760.000 and counting

PS - btw, did the 288 GTO Tournament last night. I LOVE that car :)

I've tried it too and it's a challenging car (hey, give me a break, you know the lousy driver I am!). I find it a little to 'sweepy' for my taste un-tuned, both it did get better with lowering ride height and some bar/damper stiffening...

PS - I know Christmas is coming and usually that means extra(-large) expenses on the family budget (those damned kids and toy tv commercials...) but I'm pretty confident that 760,000 is a reasonable sum for your holiday expenses! At least should allow you to have a break for some RACING ACTION! :sly:
