RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Any muscle car is allowed to participate IF, the car was a competitor in the SCCA Trans Am Road Racing Series before 1975. I will make exceptions for track days but come qualifying and race time, you must abide by this rule.
2. Power settings for each car can be found later in the post for each class of cars.
3. Weight MUST be 1360kg or higher. Ballast and position of ballast are fine. It must not be lower.
4. Racing Hard tires are the minimum tires you can use right now excluding some standard cars the need stickier tires to be able to compete.
5. Mechinical Damage is OFF to prevent lag.
6. Visual Damage is OFF to prevent lag.
7. Fuel Consumption and Tire Wear is ON.
8. Slipstream is set to weak.
9. Boost is set to OFF.
10. Microphones will be set to ON, unless it is determined that they cause too many connection/stability issues.
11. NO CAUTIONS - Use this as extra motivations to race clean.
12. RACE CLEAN. Anyone not overall racing clean will recieve a reduction in points, and a benched race. Consistancy will result in removal from the season. It's OK (and expected) to let off of the gas (or even brake) so you don't run over someone in a turn. This is especially true at Daytona and SS Route X, where drafting can cause lots of issues with people being run over in corners. Dirty drivers will not be permitted to return to later events.
13. While cornering, the two outside tires must remain completely on the tarmac/concrete/pavement at all times. Rumble strips are NOT considered part of the tarmac/concrete/pavement. Anyone that is caught cutting corners can be assessed up to a 30-second penalty, per occurrance, at the discretion of the league host. Don't worry so much about hitting the strips though.
14. Drivers are not permitted to use the Series' Livestream Service mid-race. Anyone that is caught can be assessed up to a 30-second penalty, per occurrance, at the discretion of the league host.
15. Drivers are advised to exit the pit lane with caution. Anyone that is caught blocking or deliberately causing an accident can be assessed up to a 30-second penalty, per occurrance, at the discretion of the league host.
16. Specifications must be as close or accurate as possible to their real life counterparts or they will be ineligable to participate in the series.

ELIGABLE CLASS SEDAN LIST

More soon.

Throwing this out there to start a Trans Am club covering all the available makes/models for the Old SCCA Trans Am races. Cars Pre-1975 only. There will be a modern muscle car T/A series relatively shortly.

American cars only. You know the cars you can use, like muscle and other American race cars pre 1975.

I will be researching further the SCCA Classes used and hoping to build a car list as well as drivers for a future series.

Paint jobs must be old styled, you know color combos that would have been used.

These races are CLEAN. Anyone that is caught to be racing rough will be banned from the races and name posted in a list here so everyone knows to watch out for. If you are banned you will recieve an insta-kick upon entering the room.

Replicas are fine so long long as it meets requirements.

I am planning on implementing which may be regarded as harsh restrictions. Non of the aids will be allowed including ABS. Tire Wear will be present as well.

^^^This can be changed. Pre 1975 events will follow this but ABS will be allowed if you so choose to use it. Tire wear will be off on some occasions, generally for practice laps. Actual races will have it on. Tracks that are in GT5 that actually were used will be used also.

Cars are limited to 530pp, 450-480hp MAX (on some occasions we will run stock or mild builds 400hp and under). Tire selection is not limited.

Any Interest in it be known!

Lets get it on!

Very nice!

I like having NO ABS. And tire restriction should be limited to racing hards. RS tires have way too much grip for this hp/pp level. And the stock races should be limited to comfort softs.

Everything else looks great!

Oh, and why can't I paint my car fluorescent pink?!

Thanks!

No ABS will apply to cars that did not actually use it in the real things. Newer cars do so it will be allowed. Tire restriction is not limited due to the fact in real life they used whatever they could get. I hope this doesn't interfere with anything. Stock races will use what the car came with.

I will have a list of these cars shortly. And I will be running a 1970 Boss 302 T/A replica as well, 470hp as in real life but on Comfort Softs to replicate the true 1/4 time of 12.9 seconds and real (or as close as possible) gearing and weight ratios.

RS tires are a bit over exaggerated in GT5. I'm pretty sure back in the 70's, they didn't have slicks with this much grip. At around 470hp, the grip level is so high, you will hardly have to let off the gas. I don't want to split hairs on what's more realistic. I just think RH tires would be more fun, and provide a better experience. Some other opinions would be welcome.

I'll look forward to seeing the list!

That's why I threw comfort softs on my T/A to meet what the real car did.

IDK when it'll be up, being lazy today.

Last night I threw together a 69 Z28 to 450ph & 3,000 lbs (1,360 kg) which seems period correct (all engine mods except for super charger). It came out to 517pp without down force and 530pp with full down force. For whatever that's worth.

Are you going to allow a rear wing? I know the trans cammer can't be equipped with one, and the standard cars look atrocious with it. I would vote 'no' on down force just based on those two things.

Who's up for some racing this evening?

I should be around this evening. Would love to knock the rust off the old Z28.

So this car has been parked outside my office all day today.
P1010001-1.jpg

Ironically, the Z28 I put together last night in GT5 has the same color combo as this, Same orange with white stripes. (the orange in the photo is showing it as more yellow then it actually is. Maybe some day I’ll learn how to use photoshop).

I think this is a sign...... Or maybe just too bored at work......

Edit:
A pretty girl just got into that car and drove away... That's probably a sign too...

I agree that its a sign...GT5 needs pretty girls...maybe in the next DLC. :D

What time should I open a room? I can get on at any point.

Wings are allowed but to a certain extent.

I'm thinking tonight will end up being a track night at Laguna Seca and a few other T/A tracks.

Track List for Tonights Room:

Mazda Laguna Seca
Circuit De La Sarthe 2009
Road Course At Daytona
Road Course at Indianapolis
Nurburgring GP/D

I won't be around untill around 5:30pm West Coast time.

You can't really regulate "certain extent" with downforce. Either allow it or not.

Track schedule looks good. Can do without Top Gear though. No pits.

Go ahead and now. I'll be on at least.

Top Gear is now out.

So about 8:30 pm my time. That's actually perfect timing because I tend to get on around then or later. I'll have the room open at 5pm your time and have the room number posted here.

Thinking about tossing in Trial Mountain, Deep Forest Raceway and Grand Valley into the mix.

Well I was going to wait until Skeletor can get on in a few hours. If you want to wait until then that would be great. I can get on now but I feel it would be better if we all got on around the same time. I might have a few of my drag buds join to as the cruise a lot with me.

Cars with tunes that still have prominant oversteer I will allow a maximum of 12 rear downforce. On official race days you will have to submit an image for verification. This is going to be a legit series, so I want it to be official. Now obviously you can change it but if you pull away with ease it will be quite obvious something is going on.

EDIT:

Another idea I've been tossing around is making official "teams". I did this with a Daytona 500 with my drag team a while back and it works out fairly well.

The idea is to have a crew of 3 and several of them with identical cars. I mean same car, generally the same tune, same rims, paint jobs and numbers.

There is a few ways of going about this. We can either all run at once in a race, (and probably will in track day/practice sessions), or have sessions. Like so many laps on one drive, so many laps on the second etc. Let me know what you think. I think if this works out it could be very good for the league.

In order for this to work, I'd need a head count and everyone will have to be able to particpate at each event so if you cannot make it to all (when dates are set), do not submit. I'll have a form up shortly if you guys want to do this.

If you get enough people, go ahead and get started with out me.

Not very many muscle cars in this game have prominant oversteer. Image verification sounds a little silly to me. How about for now, just leave the wing off on all the cars. Especially if we're running RS tires.

Teams are a good idea IF we have enough people... Let's just keep things simple for now. Run some races, nail down the regulations, get a complete car list. etc.

Alright that sounds like a plan. I'll go ahead and open up a room.

Again the teams thing is up in the air still.

EDIT:

Room will be titled

GTP SCCA T/A ONLY

Number up shortly.

The racing I was able to participate in was very fun. Slash, you really need to give a 'one minute warning' for race starts. You started the race on me twice while I was in the garage looking for cars that fit in your specs.

I did like the specs, although the tires felt a little excessive. I would recommend race hards, but that's just my preference.

Something odd that I noticed, when the regulations were set to 'vintage', the '69 Vette Convertable was no longer allowed. Kind of disappointing, I really like that car and it's one of the few that can run down the Z28.

I thought we were running hards. At least I was. And the Stang is damn slow compared to the Comaro.

+1 on racing hard tires. and +1 on waiting until everyone is on the track to start at least.

Anyways, after all was said and done, I went and picked up a brand new Challenger and a Mach 1. Thew a bunch of parts & weight reductions and tuned them all to the specs of about 460 hp (no supercharger) and 1360 kg and here is what I came up with:

1970 Challenger R/T.....463hp....503 lb/ft torque.... 518pp *
1971 Mach 1...............461hp....501 lb/ft torque.... 526pp
1969 Z28....................460hp....401 lb/ft torque.....518pp

*challenger only made it to 1,398 kg

All three of these cars were brand new with no break-in time and no oil change. (camaro had about 50 miles on it). This seems to be close enough to true life regulations of the day, and all 3 cars are very close to each other based on "peepee".

To simplify things, maybe just run these 3 cars. Since back in the day it was all about; Ford, Chevy, Dodge. No special rules for a particular car and easy to regulate. All 3 are premium cars, and all 3 competed in real life Trans Am series.

Can it be that easy?

Also, if you really want to do teams, why not teams: Ford, Chevy, Dodge? But before we do teams, lets gain some more racers and see where it goes.

Oh, and Mudd, Corvette technically isn't a "muscle car", however, the L46 Corvette coupe somehow is allowed.

Vette not being a muscle car makes sense, I just don't think about those things when I'm in 'race mode'. :D Using the 3 premiums would certainly be the easiest way to regulate the cars, and your PP results seem pretty close, I like it. We should each set those 3 cars up to those specs and meet up for a few 5-lap test rounds.

No reason to stop contributing in here, Kal. You never know, a new PS3 could fall out the back of a truck or something, you might be back on the track with us in the future. :D

Just doing some tuning and testing and am curious as to what tuning restrictions we are trying to enforce. so far i have been doing more work on the B sedan class which will mainly consist of pre '72 vehicles per scca regulations and vehicle lists from the era.

I used this list to compare in-game vehicles (via my garage, so feel free to add to available cars):

Conclusion for B sedan class:
Combine sedan b,c,d set hp to 130max, weight to 930kg and roughly 360pp limit

Vehicles I had:

’68 mazda 110S (l10b) comfort soft (C)
Stock tuning: 122hp@7k 99ft.@5k 960kg 7.72kg/HP 352pp
’63 alfa romeo GIULIA SPRINT SPECIALE comfort soft (C)

Stock tuning: 96hp@6k 100ft.@3.5k 930kg 9.52kg/HP 326pp

I chose these rough regulations to allow for some play in tuning and also was wondering as to some opinions on suspension/transmission/drivetrain tuning. Do we want to have free range as to suspension and such or do we want to keep it close to spec?

I'll be online tonight testing so add Torres_Dong

Wow that's awesome! Let me look it over a few times and take it all in. I see no issue with it.

Very nice work torres! I agree with combining all the 2L and under classes. Your regs also seem very reasonable. You're the man for the 2L class!! If GT5 had a Gremlin, Vega, & Pinto, I would convert over the the 2L!!

I thought about adding the Cougar & Cuda (barracuda) to the 5.0L mix, but I've found out that the 'standard' muscle cars don't perform well enough to compete with the premium counterparts. I would have NO problem adding them or considering other cars at someone's request.

Kal, go find a beater ps3 on craiglslist or something, fix it up, and come back. We'll show you who's actually in the rear view mirror. Unless you got your rear view mirror facing forward.
