Yeah, I would be surprised if there was no manual option. I won't be surprised if the auto is standard and manual an option.

Lovin' the tennis ball on the antenna  Damn, I was hoping for a good look at the interior :(

I'm thinking it's auto, look a the paddles. Plus the boot area around the shifter looks too narrow to for a manual.
The toggles right in front of the shifter are still a mystery to me.

Did toyota or Subaru gave any recent specs yet? All I know from toyota from last year around 200hp car around 20K price? Still true?

I am thinking of buying brand new car either end of this year or next year. And 20k is around my budget.

So far my Choice is 2012 Ford Focus or 2012 Subaru Impreza. If that Toyota has good gas mileage (30mpg+), I might consider getting one as well, even if it comes with that Subaru 2.0l non turbo model around 160 hp.

The coupe will be much different that the two you have listed.
More likely $25k, and yes, non turbo, though now there are rumors of an STI version down the road.

If its around 200 HP and 25K, I rather buy 300hp Mustang for same price. 25k? No thanks.

So you have no requirements and will get whatever you feel like at the time of purchase? Going from a focus and impreza to a ft-86 to a mustang is quite a jump.

... Did you read what I wrote? My limit is around 20k, and on side not if That 200hp Subaru or Toyota Cots 25k, i would rather buy Ford Mustang V6 300 hp. But I wont buy it since its 25 k.

Defensive, aren't we? $20k is a limit, and considering cars from different classes/segments while mentioning no car specific requirements means you don't really have any, right? Which is what I asked, right? Yeah..............

200HP in a 2500 pound car would probably do half decent against an STi on the freeway, provided the car is RWD. You can never underestimate drivetrain losses in a Subaru :p

If its close to 200whp, should do pretty good. Will depend on gearing and how high it'll rev. If its 200 (crank) horsepower, it'll be down to about 170 at the wheels.

Is scion going to continue the tc or are they contining on trade-in? Id think almost every tc owner who paid for the car on their own will be dying to get one of these.

The tc will continue I'm sure. I think this and the tc appeal to different buyers for the most part.

So I guess you can say anything on 4 wheels for around 20k. Any suggestions? I would love that Toyota, but something tells me it will be around 25k.
Well I chose Focus because it will run me around 20 for nicely loaded as well got nice fuel economy and practicality.
IF this Toyota costs around 20k, I would rather buy this since Im still young and something sporty would be nice, RWD lil sports car.
Subaru Impreza 2012, same as Focus but AWD.

Is it me or I don't see any other interesting cars for 20k. (brand new of course) So I really hope Toyota delivers.

I know you want a 'brand new' car, but can't you wait a few months. You should be able to pick it up either 2nd hand or be able to buy a car that's been sitting on the forecourt for a lot less then new price.

My understanding was that Scion would keep producing the tC alongside the FR-S, or whatever they're going to call it. Think of it this way... Remember in '80s when the Celica and Supra were otherwise the same car? You know, except one was FWD and the other was RWD? Give or take, that's what this will be like.

I guess I could wait few months, but it wont save me a lot of cash, what a Thousand? Two? I rather buy new car with few miles on the gauge because usually those 2000 to 5000 mile cars are test driven by everyone, and what do you do when you test drive a car? PEDAL TO THE METAL! So I don't wanna save 2k when a car will go bunkers and sometimes worrenties wont cover this or that.. :nervous: So I want my New Car Smell and Feel, as well since I got a steady job, steady point in my life. I want a lil reward. :D
Im buying car Spring or Summer next year. But lets say Toyota does come with 20k Price but sells in Fall of 2012, I can wait that long.

If the car gets the crap beaten out of it during test drives, not sure how since you usually go with a sales person, then any problems will very likely arise during the warranty period.
I would suggest buying a 2-3 year old car, you'll save money and with the savings you could buy a long extended warranty if you really want to.
Car is supposed to be unveiled off in December and go on sale a couple of months later.

Are you planning on a hatch or sedan focus? I see the hatch starts at $19k for a manual(with destination) and comes with nothing but basic amenities from what I can tell.(why isn't weight mentioned anywhere under the specs on the ford site?)
Then you have the civic, you have the elantra, you could get a slightly used maxdaspeed3 or new hatch/4door, the velostar is supposed to come out withing the next couple of months.
These are just suggestions, if you drove the focus and liked it then of course you should get that,

Since I drive a civic si 4 door I feel obligated to mention that an si is practical, sporty, and reliable. In the near-new market for under 20k I believe the si is a strong contender (but the appeal of the car is unique so I certainly suggest a drive before jumping to conclusions).

Regarding the subion...
With a price range so close to each-other I doubt the tc will do well after the frs is released.

I was really hoping the design would resemble the FT-86 II concept a bit more. The cars that keep popping up in the spy shots are a bit....bland.

The subary will no doubt be pretty bland and subdued. The toyota will likely stay close to the fr-s we've seen.
We'll see in a few months.

I like the fact that the Subaru looks "boring" by comparison to the Toyota/Scion. Make it cheaper, but similarly capable, and it will be the smart choice for the people who know what's better.
