This.

I'd like to see it photoshopped off the car.

Wait, are you talking about what's circled in red or what's circled in green?

Ahhh, I always thought you were talking about the side vents on the front bumper. Those wouldn't be hard at all since it's just cut and color match to fill it it. If I had photoshop I would.

I can see why they added it. It looks bad being there, but it looks really really strange without it. Almost gets rid of the sporty feel imo

I agree it looks a little weird as-is, but with a modified car (lowered, etc) it'll look really clean.

If you must have something in it's place:

Yeah but personally that looks worse. I plan on taking that off my GT86. idk, it's kind of one of those things that goes either way i guess

“First 86” ProgramIn response to a large volume of FR-S hand-raisers. Scion also announced that it will launch a special program called “First 86.” The program will give 86 lucky people the opportunity to be among the first to own the Scion FR-S. The selected 86 owners will take delivery of their car before it goes on-sale to the general public. Starting Jan. 12 at Noon EST, FR-S enthusiasts will have 8 hours and 6 minutes to submit their request at www.ScionFirst86.com.
I post that early and no one saw it I think.

Yeah I must have missed it. It was just pointed out to me at work, so I thought I would share. Unfortunately I cannot participate.

I read how you would receives the Scion it seems pointless. It goes to the dealer then you go pick it up after you pay for it. How long before do you get then everyone else? It not Luke you get a special edition of it and you don't even get to test drive the thing before putting a deposit on it.

I won't be one of the first 86. I want to be though. In a way it makes me sad, but truthfully, I would be satisfied replacing my RX7 with the FR-S. My RX7 has almost everything I want in a car, except modern quality, amenities, and a warranty.

EDIT: Also gas mileage.

Which one do you have? FC or FD?

Oh how I love the internet... That wagon is horrid but I love it just for being a wagon/hatch.

I actually think the hatch looks sweet! But I guess it's the same with the STI. Almost everyone hated the hatch, even though I loved it.

It's a win-win.
More weight shifted to the rear due to hatch + offset that with AWD pieces up front.
If only...

I like this guy. :sly:

Keef, you should sell your FC and buy a proper RX-7. Acceptable models were made between 1978 to 1985, and 1992 to 1995.
The FC is similar to this FR-S in philosophy, and probably my favorite of the bunch. It's modern enough to be highly capable but relatively simple at the same time. The FB is simply too old to be any good, while the FD is so modern it's borderline luxurious, and rare and expensive to boot. The FC is the forgotten generation, and that's one reason it's really cool to see a nice one. I also think it's the best-looking of the bunch.

Speaking of the FC being a serious looker, my main gripe about the FR-S is the side profile. The greenhouse is too far forward. I wish it had more of a fastback rear end. The fastback hatch of my FC is one of my favorite parts, and helps give the car a proper rear-wheel drive, hunkered down sports car stance.

I'm just kidding about the FC. I like them a lot...I just happen to like the first and third gens better. The first gens are so involving to drive even if they aren't technically that great. The third gens are supercar league. The FC's I've driven always feel soft and spongy in comparison.

And I agree about the new 86, FR-S, BR-Z thing. It's biggest detriment is that it just doesn't look that great, at this point I'm pretty much decided on an S2000 over the BR-Z. I haven't driven the BR-Z yet, obviously, but I doubt it would be that much better dynamically than an S2000 to justify it's stunted looks.

The S2000 looks better for sure, but I'd still take an FR-S over an S2000. The Scion is less strung-out and more basic. It's also much more practical with its roof and fold-down "rear seats". The S2000 isn't known for amazing fuel mileage either, despite the small engine. While I love the S2000's cockpit-like driving position, I don't like the cramped interior it comes with. A Miata has a similar driving position and more interior space in an even smaller car.
