I rather see Scion logo over Toyota, because Scion is like the sports cars of Toyota,

I thought that was rather obvious. Have you looked at their lineup lately? Totally track machines.

Haha.

We don't have Scions over here, but from what I see it is a hipster brand trying very hard to get some sporting credentials with drift car and time attack cars that has nothing to do with the street version. While underneath is the same boring stuff. Not that they look good either.

I'll stick to Toyota, at least I can associate it with some decent cars from the past.

Nope, has nothing to do with that. Your right about the hipster part though. The whole point of Scion was to attract the younger market (18-30 year olds), who were repelled by Toyota's aging/dull/boring portfolio. Nothing particularly sporty about Scion.

Except usually the same old people demographic flock to them to be...hip. And they're the ones that actually tend to care about practicality more so than a 16 year old girl.

Its sad that out of all of Toyota's vehicles, a V6 Camry is probably the fastest around a circuit.

Edit: Why is is so easy to forget Lexus? Exclude Lexus from the above comment. :dopey:

Even then, it isn't exactly something interesting itself. Maybe its just me, but the only Toyotas I have any interest in anymore is what's on the racetrack.

Because Lexus is Expensive and its Dull. And if you look at alot of their lineup, its basically a rich man's Toyota (which isn't exactly what you want right now).

With a drop and wheels the IS looks nice. And it supposedly handles pretty well. More so with the ISF.

More so with the ISF.
Which Lexus is asking M3 money for.

I think that's why nobody usually thinks of Lexus in this kind of debate: Lexuses have nothing in common with the idea behing the FR-S, I think...

Anyways, I still doubt you'll be able too get one below 20 grand. I doubt Toyota will sell it any cheaper than necessary.

But a 1.4 litre Toyota Auris costs $30k.
Or a 1.3 Yaris $25k.
(prices converted from £ to $)
That's not how it works, you know? Unless you're importing the car from the UK, that is.
Starting price for the Yars is roughly 13,000$ in the US (source: Toyota).

That's not how it works, you know?

autoblog sure as hell doesn't. They use that crap all the time. Oh, this and this costs 29,000 in the uk, so 40,000 something in the us, blah blah.

there's no need to be paranoid for a Yaris costing 25k. No one would buy them for that price.

Thousands of people do. It's just America seems to have very cheap cars somehow.
But other places in the world, like UK pay $25k for a Yaris. And that is a normal price for a car, other makes will charge a similar price.

Yet the cars are sometimes very similar to what you get. Less taxes and road fees maybe?

Depending on the vehicle and where you're buying it will ultimately decide what you end up paying for the vehicle. Each state adds a different sales tax, some vehicles are saddled with a "Gas Guzzler Tax," and then you have the usual title and license plate fees. Some car companies will add on a delivery and processing fee, others will include it in the price. Thing is, you can buy a car out of state, but you still have to pay the taxes and fees for where it is going to be registered.

So, it is very different than the VAT you deal with across the pond.

It's because we have a way bigger market than the blokes in the old empire, and competition is more fierce as a result.

The newest Car and Driver estimates the Scion at around $28k, and mentions that the engine is so far back that AWD is pretty much impossible.
They predict a turbo version of the Subaru is likely to follow.

So the Subaru will be named BRZ (Boxer Rear-wheel-drive Zenith). I hope it's just a name for their prototype because it sounds weird and unimaginative for such an interesting car. I'm afraid it's final though but it's not a big deal. The important thing is how great it will turn out to be but Subaru BRZ < Subaru SVX.

^ Funny thing is, I currently own a Subie from the Old Subaru ('89 Leone Hi-Roof/GL Touring). And used to own a couple of New Subaru's ('04 & '06 WRX Sport Wagon). I wonder how will this Toyota-Subaru will fare...

:dopey:

BRZ doesn't sound THAT bad. What it stands does sound abit cheesy, but the Acronym itself isn't bad. Its not very showy, its simple.

^ Actually its:

I'm not sure what you are trying to say but it's true that BRZ is kind of similar to XT and SVX. It's just doesn't sound quite as good. I'll be suprised if the JDM BRZ will get the Alcyone name as this is like a new concept compared to the XT and SVX.

^ I'm just stating that maybe you forgot the XT, thats all. ;)

-> That JDM "Alcyone BRZ" is just a name that I came up with, since most 'unique' Subaru coupes in JDM-land always came with the Alcyone name before the two/three letter names as stated in their history (or the post I made above). :)

Alcyone would be a fitting name but I just don't see them using it for this one. The XT and SVX never became a success for Subaru so I think they would be hesistant using that name again. It's surely is a coupe but also an RWD developed with Toyota so this is probably a fresh attempt with no links to the past. Toyota also said that they don't plan to revive the Supra but who knows. I would like to see them using the Alcyone name in Japan just for the nostalgia.

So, uh, whens it supposed to come out now? Late, 2059 maybe? It seems like this car should be on the cover of the next GT, since they'll be delayed the hell out of.

BRZ is just the name of the concept they are showing at the auto show. I doubt it will carry over to the production car.
