Subaru will be running a version of the BRZ in the Super GT GT300 class. 👍

Excited to hear that! I was just at Fuji speedway this weekend for the Formula Nippon and Super GT Event. The Subaru Legacy was the loudest and ran the fastest lap among the GT300's

Yeah...gotta have a place for a plate though. Put it in the middle and it'll scream Audi.

I still don't know which of these I like better.
The Subaru will most likely be the better performer, but also more expensive. I'd be getting the Toyota myself, because a rear-drive coupe just isn't a Subaru and never will be.

I will be seriously looking at these. The price keeps creeping up where it looks like only the Scion/Toyota (god I hope we get it as a Celica somehow) would be affordable for me. I really need to get one a year used. Or if its not as good of a deal, I can at least let others find out its issues that first year.

That last autocross with the MR2 has made me care less about the Civic...Its going to cost me money not even related to itself!

They probably should have called it a Celica to get the car back to its roots, but that would also have attracted more female buyers. FT86 does call out to car guys though.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box, remember Subaru didnt even start out as a AWD brand. THough I will at admit thats of course what they have been known for all these years. As a subaru nut ( owned 3, currently only one) I have talked to a bunch of my freinds and also on the forums most subaru guys welcome and embrace the BRZ especially since it is still keeping the other thing that is synonomus with subaru the Flat 4 ( been in subarus since 1971) I think 1986 is when subies started offering AWD in some of there cars. Anyways you may think its not a subaru but the miniute I hear that boxer rumble and my heart flutters and sings yeah thats a subie LOL.

We'll probably just get it as a Scion FR-S or fR. Lol, lets just call it by the drivetrain...

MR2 was originally Midship Runabout 2 seater, thankyouverymuch.

People are already confused when I say I drive an MR2. A girl at O'Reilly's couldn't figure out what I was asking about one day. "Emartu?????" Go back to the kitchen.

Am I the only one who feels it looks like a stretched/squashed Scirrocco?

I agree. The Boxer engine is what will be the remaining heart of Subaru. I don't really care for them, but they are good little engines.

Oh yeah, I already forgot it's going to be a Scion.

FR86 then. Damn.

Not for me in japan :D Will be under the Toyota name.

Um... I'm seeing little to no connection here. What this guy below said is how I feel. Although it wouldn't be a bad thing if it did. The Scirroco is one of my favourite VDubs.
In the way that they both have four wheels and headlights?

Not with the Toyota/Scion, with the Subaru. Might be the color, but I see a bit of Scirroco R influence in the front.

I was thinking about if Subaru fans would like BRZ likes or dislike the fact that it's not AWD But I also forget that Subaru were not always AWD.
Does anyone think that Subaru will make a AWD version of the BRZ?

I think that I did read somewhere that the motor in BRZ is mounted so much lower and further back that AWD is out of question.

The next wrx and sti are supposed to be built on this chassis, are they not?
They'll just move everything up front and hang the motor in front of the axle, as they do now.
Even the engines are basically the same. The only likely difference between the FB and FA is that the FA uses toyota's direct injection tech while the other does not.
All I've heard is that swapping in the older ej motors would not be very easy.

Source? I haven't heard anything along those lines.

Somewhere on clubft86 or whatever it is.

edit
I'm really striking out with this whole quoting idiots who can't read crap. This the 88th time this has happened?

So from
If the truth be known, we were able to focus so deeply on the motorsports element with the new WRX because we developed a sister car with the Toyota FT-86. Bosses gave us permission to go all out because that car exists,

ft86 club members came up with
motor trend: next WRX based on ft86
when a few paragraphs above it clearly states

Apart from a few nuts and bolts, every part on the WRX will be unique. Even the engine and body. Obviously the WRX’s platform will be inherited from the new Impreza, but it will be radically modified and significantly shortened

Death to balance with that.

Honestly, AWD is over rated. I don't get why so many people are so "omg, AWD, omg omg."

That and turbos.

What isn't overrated to one person or another?
People prefer what they have and dislike what they don't. Then when they switch from what they had to what they hated, they dislike their prior preference.

So....from that I get the the new WRX will be based on the Impreza, not the FT86 platform. So what's with the name calling when you're wrong?

Edit: And you might want to supply the "proof" to your dribble before you post next time.

As long as this leads to 2-door impreza coupe, I'm all in for it if they revive one legendary badge more.. the 22B..
