Motor Trend article isn't consistent about the standard wheel size, first saying 17s and then having 16s listed in the spec sheet.

I think in the UK the 16" has been confirmed as standard, 17" optional.

''But enough of that, it’s the driving that counts. The 2.0-litre flat four is naturally aspirated, revs to 7,400rpm and develops 200bhp and 151lb ft of torque. These, you don’t need me to point out, aren’t massively impressive figures these days. And the BRZ isn’t a massively fast car. Final homologation happens next month, the expectation being a 0-62mph time of around 6.8secs with the CO2 target being 160g/km. I’d guess at a top speed of around 145mph, and 42mpg on the combined cycle.

It’s light though (1,220kg), and Subaru has worked the torque hard, so although the peak is between 6,400-6,600rpm, you have almost all of that before 3,000rpm. Put your foot down at low revs and it picks up healthily, aided by super-quick throttle response. But it tails off a bit through the mid-range, meaning you have to head for the high numbers to get your kicks. And that’s where the BRZ is at its best. It zips through the final 2,000rpm, feels keen and energetic and then, well, and then there’s the noise. We have high hopes…

Of course, it sounds different. This Boxer doesn’t chunter and warble like an old Impreza, it’s a smoother note than that, still slightly off-beat and noisy enough without being intrusive. It’s not Honda Type-R addictive, but it’s a plus, a whack more interesting to listen to than any four cylinder turbo you care to mention (VW Scirocco? Renaultsport Megane? Mini Cooper S?). It makes this a fun engine to use, but it’s not the best thing about the car.
he BRZ steers like it has no weight.
Because the best thing is the handling. It doesn’t appear to roll, pitch or dive. It’s neither nose nor tail heavy, just a sense of the front and rear working in perfect harmony. You steer, it goes and when the grip runs out (it was pouring with rain in Japan), the BRZ is almost totally neutral. And you get so much warning of when that’s about to happen. I was nervous when I found out it had electric power steering, but this has to be about the best system I’ve tried – the springy weighting is lovely and real sensations are fed back into your hands.

How best to describe it as an overall package? Keen. Eager. It’s not puppy-ish in its enthusiasm, it’s a bit more measured than that, but it’s a lot of fun. Easily better to drive than a VW Scirocco; more agile and rewarding than any Audi TT. It may not have the lungs on a Nissan 370Z, but it’s way more dextrous and I can’t think of any hot hatch except possibly the Renaultsport Clio that provides as much satisfaction.''

I just hope and pray someone like Tsudo or Nameless get some pre-release work with this car because God knows I am not paying $1000+ for an exhaust unless I come across some amazing job straight out of high school. And I'm really looking forward to seeing what the FR-S would look like with a single exit. Anyone like photoshop? :)

It would look as bad as any car with 2 exhaust bumper cut outs but only 1 visible exhaust tip.

I like that look. I am in love with 2011 wrx's with single exits on them. With the single tip design on Toyoscibaru, I think it'd look even better since it will take up the entire cutout.

If you have the means, you can mold it out. I've also seen companies make pieces that fill in the hole.

Or you can just throw a tow hook in there. And no, not as a HEY LOOK AT ME I'M SUPER JDM BRUSKI, but because it actually looks good on there. And since the Toyoscibaru's cutouts are for single tip and not dual tip, it'd fill it fine.

What's the exhaust system look like anyway? X-pipe?

Do boxer engines typically combine into one pipe like that?

Yeah.
Most V6 motors are like that as well. The opposite banks meet up in the engine bay area and only 1 pipe runs the length of the car. Saves money, room.

Ahh ''Lschelgs car'' the reason I love Hatchback subies lol

Has anyone run an x-pipe?

I know that there are unequal length header set-ups to enhance the burble, but with the typical small displacement of boxers in Subies, I don't think anyone has seen fit to use a true dual system.

Plus the packaging constraints...

Makes sense. Biggest boxer is only, what, like 4L?

it seems like they really are serious about the gt86.I mean trd kit already, guages where the head unit should be....I'm lovin it hopefully parts such as brakes will b intrchangeable with current model subarus.I could see at leastthe wrx four pots or the sti brembos being adapted.

biggest subaru boxer 6 is indeed 3.6. I think the biggest porsche boxer is 4.0 correct me if i'm wrong.👍

Nope! Even back in the early 90's, there was the 3.3L in the SVX.

The one in the Tribeca, if I recall correctly.

And the Legacy and Outback. But I've been dreaming of an EZ30R BRZ since day one. I mean surrsly.

Or...you could get rid of the dual and run a single because it's lighter, cheaper, and less completely unfunctional. Why they put dual exhausts on cars that don't actually need it, specifically inline engines, is far beyond my logic.

This is from the Scion.

Speaking of single exhausts...looks like that final exhaust flange is placed perfectly for a straight axle-back right into that little cutout there.

That should work until Buddy Club makes a Spec 2 for it. <--- Santa hat
