Visibility was very good, though I couldn't check for blind spots because the car had no power and I couldn't adjust mirrors.

Also, Keef, my dad had a C5 vette. This bay looks pretty different. It's like... everything on the car is high up, but the car itself is super low. They designed the car around the engine kind of like how the A-10 is designed around the GAU-8.

Also, I solved the headlight thing once and for all. The headlight continues to the corner, but it curves in on the BRZ. I'm pretty sure the BRZ lights would fit on the FR-S, but not the other way around.
 
For MY13. Most likely it's some marketing BS though, which is getting really annoying. I bet they are gonna start advertising the car on TV without releasing the pricing :P

I doubt this is really 'news' but I called my local Toyota/Scion dealership and they told me they are supposed to be getting the FR-S in by the end of March or early April.

I'm trying to decide if I should wait and get an FR-S (if they are even available at MSRP) or buy an RX-8 which are currently on fire-sale.

RX-8 is likely a little bit faster, and the FR-S is likely more usable around town. That's really the only difference I can find between them.

The RX8 should be marginally faster, hardly enough to make a difference. It will be the more usable car also because it's not tiny and has four usable seats. You'd have to compare them, but I've driven an RX8 before and was unimpressed with its road manners in terms of sportiness. Conversely, a Miata feels the part on the leisurely drive to the grocery, but the RX8 is too big and heavy to pull it off. I think that's something the FR-S will still do, despite being a fair bit heavier than an NB Miata.

Also factor in the RX8's abysmal gas mileage which will get old eventually.

I was unimpressed with the engine of the NB Miata. Haven't driven an NC. The powerband felt flat across the board, which is good in some situations, but not exactly *my* idea of fun. I wasn't very impressed with the RX-8's power delivery. It isn't geared aggressively (this model was a pre-4.77 gear car) enough to make use of the 9,000rpm (in my opinion) and it's simply far too heavy for it's engine. However, the handling balance is magical, the interior is fantastic, and I love the noise. The RX-8 should have been NC weight, and it would have been extraordinary.

I'm hoping the FR-S is close to the RX-8 in many ways...just lighter.

I think Subaru dropped the ball with the whole premium gas being required thing. Save that for the turbo.

How about lets not use premium gas at all turbo or not
I love my turbo forester but man its killing me
 
If an manufacturer says the engine requires premium fuel and you don't use it can void the warranty of the car. Also it can damage your engine, the repairs would cost more then what the premium fuel would cost you.
 
But, but SKYACTIVE is like bazzillion:1 and it runs on regular, doesn't it?

I'm pretty sure the ECU retards timing to prevent knock. MFRs aren't stupid. They know some people will put in 87 no matter what the car requires. But this is a subaru engine, so it will likely explode.
How will the dealership prove you used 87? The MFR would have send a representative/technician and even then you could simply blame the gas station for having crap gas.
I've bought premium from shoddy places before and my car shut off half a block from the gas station.

As for premium vs. regular, the only difference you'll notice in modern engines is a slight loss of power. Timing is adjustable over a very wide range.

Genesis Coupe is a good example of this. Hyundai advertises two different horsepower numbers, depending on the octane of fuel used.
