Scotland-Based 'Ideal' Racing Circuit Coming to Assetto Corsa This Year

They are ugly, massive and don't fit in at all. I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt Nvidia to allow the signs to be a little more subtle.

I only had time to try the longest layout but I had an absolute blast, I'll be using this track a lot for sure.
It is a shame they didnt just create an intro to the track (Overview like in DR and DC) and make us aware of the sponsorship there and have smaller logos on track. They are an eye sore and placed where they spoil the sceney. Track looks just like whag i have always wanted though.

Think we should have a whip around and hire someone to make a nice hillclimb then give it to Kunos.

I find it hard to complain about free content, regardless of the track side objects.

Good point, also we need to realize that the advertising is paying for the "free" track. Would offering a DLC track for a fee without advertising be a solution to those who do not like the advertising?
I do not mind it myself, Kunos can bring as many "free" track payed by advertising as they wish, bring it on!

Exactly!

Question about your signature: "Oculus Rift DK2"! So you drive AC on VR?! Ohhhh I can only imagine how nice that is!

I find the complaints about advertising boards on BBC silly, apparently it break immersion. Totally unrealistic that Sparco would sponsor a race.

Reg. The highland track my main gripe with them is there placement. They are too in your face.

Right. And it's a bit of a catch 22, they can build this fictional track with support from a sponsor and give the track away for free and there will be whinging about sponsor billboards, or they can build the fictional track without sponsor support and then charge for it as normal DLC and there would be whinging about having to pay for a fictional track. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

Yes, it is amazing, there is a nice thread about VR and SIM driving on Race Department you might find interesting.

2 Problems for me:
1- PC is out of question (super small congested house).
Yet I have a PS4 and I'm happy to know that DiRT rally will support PSVR soon! Yet it's sad that Assetto Corsa won't!
2- Upgrading to PS4 pro is probably necessary and PSVR is not cheap at all especially that I don't have the PS camera either!

Great thread by the way! I'll be reading a bit now!

I like the new tracks, the only complaint I have is none of them are designed well for drifting, though there are some nice corners to drift, there isn't a good flow to the corners, too many parts that don't link up nicely, or need an awkward direction change to link.

I didn't find the advertising annoying in any way, it's not something I would care about with a free track anyway.

Even the drift track?

I hope for you and all other on console that you will have access to AC with PSVR, although I seriously doubt it, as AC might be too demanding, not optimized well enough, for PS4/PS4pro

Even the drift track?
Yes even the drift track, the short track is better than the drift track, there's only two corners that are not nice to link on it, but still they both seem like they are not designed by someone who knows about drifting. There's a few corners that should have shorter straights between them so the corners can link better.
They are probably only good in a driving along and then drifting kind of way rather than, I am going to drift this track start to finish kind of way.
Also if anyone hasn't tried the drift version, go try it now, I had a blast driving the new Audi there, it's probably the best one of the new tracks for driving, just not very suited for drifting.

I haven't been to the drift track yet but I took the new Audi around the short circuit last night and yeah, I could drift it around there pretty good and I'm generally useless at drifting. That car reacts very nicely to the flick.

I also took it around the long layout and boy that was fun. Billboards aside I quite like the layout, not sure how well it would do at racing but for cruising I really liked it. At times it kinda felt like a fast Nordschleife, and on those long stretches through the countryside I couldn't help but just look around and enjoy the scenery. And with the Audi it did have the feeling of blasting down a European rally stage. Definitely has an old Spa feel to it as well. 👍

Well that's a shame for drifters but it sounds like my kind of drift track. I'm not into drifting but i do like to drift, just not everywhere. I think we should start a petition for Kunos to open all the roads.

If you use a hugely powerful drift car like the supra with 100% boost, the drift track becomes a bit nicer. There's just two parts that the distance between the corners is a tiny bit too long to link in one drift so you end up having to do an awkward little flick and then one part where it's a little bit too long and narrow to keep a nice flow.
In my opinion the distance between corners should be either short enough to do in one drift without changing direction, so that it's nice to join up the apexes, or the distance should be long enough to do a nice drift in the opposite direction before flicking the other way into the next corner. This track breaks those rules in 3 places at least, But besides those parts it's really nice to drift, I can usually tolerate one straight where I drive straight, but more than that starts to annoy me.

I love that Audi, it's the first rally car on tarmac I have driven in a sim that feels convincing to me. Also love the sound, it seems like there is a difference in the sound of the engine between shifting gears hard and fast while banging the clutch out, compared to getting it timed nicely. Does anyone else notice that, or am I just imagining it?

Make sure you turn the boost to 100% so you can hear that glorious/pornographic wastegate flutter, you can only hear it with boost at the max. But you might want to turn damage off because it will nuke your engine if you're not careful.

I already discovered that one while trying to drift the little roundabout area on one of the highlands circuits. I have damage off most of the time, so have no problems with it.
