Right im off out for dinner 👍

Ive updated the results table just so everyone can see how close it is ...
(I hate you accedition333 just saying) and Technically Id say Plate88 should be top because of more wins 👍

Ill update the rest of it after and another thing ... off to spain next week so whats the plan? postpone it or carry on? acedition would carry on :sly: but its up to you lot :)

Id say go ahead with the race if you can get torzilla and johnboy back into it because the grid will be EPIC

GOOD RACE AGAIN and good luck everyone :)

Seemed strange without me and Johnboy trading places this week!

Thats what i was there for :sly:
in practice i seen what effect 2 weeks without playing it does to you and was dreading the start of the race then i got into it again and pulled off the best results of the season :)

Grand Valley really tears those tires up. Ya Xpower, try getting those tires red from time to time. If you saved the replays watch my car, especially race 2 around lap 8 or 9. I was pushin hard and know I got the fronts red with a bit of smoke. Another thing about Grand Valley is pushing to hard through all those switchbacks and hairpins will ruin your lap times. A very line sensitive race track which is why I like it.👍

So during race 1 I really was just riding. Staying in sy's draft really helped my tires out. I was planning a just before the line draft pass, but sy made mistake with 1 to go I believe in the first really tight hairpin.

During race 2 I was trying to pull away once I got out front, but sy was keeping pace and passed me with 3 or 4 to go. Once again was planning on a last lap draft, but decided to pass down front stretch with 2 to go. I ran as hard as I could those last 2 laps on worn tires trying to break the draft. I was quite surprised I pulled away. I believe sy is quicker than I am on Grand Valley, but seemed to have tire troubles or just pushing too hard.

Good racing sy. We had some nice battles up front and kept it very clean. I got much respect for your racing prowless. It's going to be fun to battle it out for the championship. If we get crossed up a bit maybe Xpower will be there to pick up the pieces.:p You never know, its racing and you don't give up till the last flag drops.

Prime example, I went to the Kings Royal Saturday night. Anybody who don't know its the World of Outlaw sprint cars that run on dirt ovals. The guy who started on pole led every lap except the last lap. He blew a tire coming out of turn 4 on the last lap. Complete bummer, but thats racing.

Blah, I'm talking too much. It's late and nothing to do.

Yeah, it was good to race against you and good to see you finishing higher 👍

Hmm, well i think you mean try NOT getting those tyres red from time to time! Apart from the main straight, they were nearly permenantly red and had lost any competetive edge by lap 6 and by lap 9 were completely shot making the car near undriveable come lap 10 !

I made the mistake on the last corner of all places. Following just back from you i got some really bad understeer coming through the last corner, bit of shock, caught my rear tyre on the grass and had a massive tank slapper all the way down the main straight. Sawing away at the wheel i was. My mate was round watching and said, "You made a meal of that!" Had to laugh. Anyway, that didnt help my tyres and just fell further and further back.

Race 2, i was planning to stay in your draft until 2 to go, saving the tyres as i went but mate, i mentioned him early, decided to pipe and told me to pass. Silly mistake. I passed you, knackered my tyres then you got back passed me and that was it. (my mate is sacked) But im surprised at how much you can save the tyres just by staying close in someones draft. Interesting. hmmm

Same to you plate, we did have a good battle, especially on one lap around the first corner, both on the edge but keeping it clean. I could hear martin brundle in my ears (you wont knw him) going on about how theyve got great respect for each other! I did managed to pull a low 1:49 in qualy but that was just one of those laps and i would never of been able to do that pace for 10 laps in a race. Anyway, on to the next race tied on points. Should be good!

Whats the setup secret to do 1'50s...i threw on soft tires and was really pushing and could only manage a 1'53.

Great night, like everyone I had pretty major tire problems by the end, lots of smoke and red tires round the first few laps, then settled down. Just a shame I came off on the first corner of race 2.

Practise, practise, practise, and......................practise again! ;)

Yea have to say would love a run on that setup see if I could match those times. Really impressive though! Hats off

If your looking for setups. Try the GT5 tuning wiki. That's where I go.

Sorry xp was glued to the golf and totally forgot apologies fellas.:grumpy:

I believe I'm running the RKS tune here off GTP. I do fiddle around with the setup a bit(changing gearing, ride height, camber). I don't sway that far though from the original RKS tune. I'm not a big fan of GT5's tuning, so don't like to put the time in to actually figure out a tune of my own. If GT5 had some proper telemetry it would be way easier to set cars up.

Now at Grand Valley here's a quick lap(this is from memory, so sorry if a few things might be off.) Turn 1 I was braking at the 200m marker(could've been 100m can't remember)initially brake really hard and trail it off. Let go roll to the apex and give full throttle from apex off. Now going through the esses, on the first few laps with new tires I would run it flat out through there. Make sure not to hit the curb on the first left then really don't hit curb on the right. OK to clip curb on the second left. May take you a few tries as going flat out requires a specific line. Going downhill to the hairpin I was braking around the start of the rumble strips on the left. Run it in wide, clip the apex, and run it off wide. Going up the hill to the double apex left don't brake until the first apex. Yes, run it in there flat out then get on brakes hard and the back end of the car will rotate to hit the second apex. Run it flat from the apex through the little right hander. For the next right and left be sure to brake early and get on the throttle early. Same goes for the next left right section through the tunnel. Now going over the bridge to the tunnel right hander, don't brake till you are at the tunnel entrance. Brake hard and wait for the car to rotate. It shouldn't take very long and get back on that throttle. Thats a turn I was smoking the left front time to time so it can be taken faster than most might think. Going down to the quick left and then right its all about early braking and throttle early. From there its flat out till the finish line. Hope I explained all this well enough. Once again its from memory, so sorry if theres any mistakes.

One thing I try to do at every race track and is very important to maximize lap times is getting off corners to the long straights as hard as you can. This alone can pick up chunks of time. Not sure if your using a wheel, but being smooth can definitely help out.

One last thing and has helped me alot. Save those replays. Watch them and make note of braking, throttle, and the racing lines people are using. This alone has taught me to go faster. I've been involved in series and misc. racing events where there are faster people than syjones and I, and watching what they are doing can go a long way.

Well, hope this helps you or anybody for that matter. Just got to push the car harder. I can say both sy and I are on the edge for 10 laps every race. This last race was a bit different cause of tire wear, but 10 laps of hang on for your life type of racing. What makes it awesome is its done on the edge and cleanly.👍

Also forgot about sector times. When watching saved replays go to the live timing and make note of sector times on fast laps of other racers. This will allow you to nail down where you're losing time.

So has anyone started practice for Nurburgring GP-D yet? I've just tried a few runs and was running constant 1:28.xxx's and i got one 1:27.7xx. No chicane jumping, no running wide through the Mercedes Arena complex, just a good honest lap set under race mode with penalties on. Hope i'm more competetive next Sunday than i was yesterday!

That's very good of you to put you lap on here plate and I whole heartily agree that there's guys who would be doing low 1:48s on this track. Some good hints a tips there also. I agree on watching replays. That helped me take 2 seconds off my academy time earlier this year. So it does work.

BOgey track. Another one. So many corners on this track that I struggle to maximise.

I really like this track, i hope it's going to be like Fuji for me where i can fight up front, only without being caught out by a well timed drafting!

Just out of interest, who here uses what to drive - wheel or DS3? I'm a DS3 user.

I use a ds3, I missed the last 2 races but it wasnt my fault and I should be at the next race.

I used DS3 for the last race ... I normally use the wheel but after 2 weeks of not being on it I drove like a drunk :ouch: and with DS3 I managed my best result ... but would of felt better with a wheel 👍

I used to use a DS3 but this is the first series ive used a wheel for.

Ive got the driving force gt good wheel. Made 100% difference to the game cant recommend one highly enough

As the sig says, I'm using a G25. Absolutely love this wheel. Had it ever since it came out.

I do know if I were to use a ds3, I would be a back marker. For me a wheel makes that big of difference. Plus I've used wheels now for 7-8 years with all my racing games, so a controller is completely foreign to me. I tried it on GT5 once and it was a mess.

Pictures of Both races from this past Sunday.
Enjoy!
