Not convinced about the times on the week 3 Tsukuba time trial. I'm actually faster in the NSX than I am in that rally car that handles like a dog. Either way I think there's something a bit iffy when I'm ~1.4secs off the pace in a one minute lap.

Setup aside, which makes absolutely no difference to the lap times you set (other than shortening the gears of course), instead it only makes the car handle how you like; I'm pretty convinced that people are either able to activate SRF or get better rubber on their car than is allowed.

Racing some of the rally ghosts it has far better lateral grip and traction than mine, and seeing as the wheels aren't spinning I think that's a bit odd.

Strongly disagree with you because I knocked over 1sec off my London laptime due to having a better set up. You would be amazed how much difference a tune can make to your laptimes.

I must admit though I don't like the Tsukaba time trial using the Celica. Currently have a 59:800 with stock set up but until I find a better tune im stuck with this laptime.

I will add that some of those dominating the leaderboards are from some of the top teams on Forza 3. Thats why they are so fast and nothing to do with using SRF or better tyres.

Several months ago my ride had to go to the shop. By the time I got to the car rental place it was right at the end of the day - on a Friday - which is when they only have crappy cars left. I got stuck with a Prius - over a three day weekend.

I referred to the rental Prius as a 'Real Driving Simulator'.

Maybe I have low expectations, but I say 'nicely done'. 👍

That's seems like a very respectable time to me. Better than respectable, actually.

Did all 5 races of the 3th bonus races. Damn, its so easy. made like 3m there. The Prius is kinda boring and slow, but its easy to win. The tts 1 is the hardest, although if you tune it, its still easy. Ford GT wasn't much of a challenge either. I had a laugh at the c4 challenge, since i already had a fully tuned 1 for the special events. 1st place after the 2nd lap. Forgot the other race, but i nailed it, so it shoudn't be so hard, would it ;) Levele'd up 2 times, from 25 to 27. keep up the bonus races PD, almost getting to my X1

Games should be challenging yes, but not to the point where it's so difficult, that it's no longer any fun for most people. This is one reason why I'm glad they lifted restrictions. Not everyone wants to be hardcore, or cares about getting better at a video game. Let people have fun with whatever the game allows them to do.

+1

Just limit yourself as needed. If you don't win with the stock car add a few parts and try again. This the way I have always played A-Spec. To me the challenge is winning the races with the least mods as possible, but in Seasonal Race #2 you needed everything PLUS the SRF to win unless you were real good. So I much prefer this new format :)

So did anyone happen to take a note of the restrictions for the second set of races, that have now been lifted? I was looking forward to tackling these having golded the first set then concentrated on some offline grinding, BUT I think the new "system" is better, or maybe the restrictions should be optional and perhaps give a little more reward.

Yep - I did .Found out they lifted restrictions on the first round as well ......but unfortunately I found out the day after those events were closed off .Didn't do too well in the first round so I would've liked to have golded them......nevermind.The best I got for the 2nd round was : 1 gold,3 silvers & haven't done the Nascar @ the Ring yet....so I was glad to gold the 3 silvers to boost up my xp.
Must admit with the restrictions lifted on the 3rd round it was way easier.....once again was glad to lift my xp .

I made the race of prius and the TT one of seasonal event bonus race 3 set, but I only get the first place money, and not the 200'000 credits or so. Is that a bug or something? When I struggled like crazy to be gold on tsukuba with RX-7 at the time of the restrictions I had the money but now I don't have the big credit reward. Anyone in this case too? thanks

Just put soft race tyres on it. That's easily enough to win. Leave TCS on if the back end keeps stepping out on you.

Anyone kind enough to share a Tune for a stock Ford GT

Hard racing tyres and a few cheap mods (racing air filter, sports cat, oil change, ECU) Made for an easy win, but the back can still step out so be a bit careful out of the tighter bends. Should have just over 600bhp and if this is a struggle weight reduction 1 should secure the win;)

But it still understeers like an oil tanker.....

In the C4 race, damage is turned on, I was winning, but clouted a wall a bit too hard on the last lap, and the door popped open, and it wouldn't do more than 90mph after that, got passed on the last straight despite blocking :(

Alhough I did race it again, and won my "watch out for falling objects" tophy....

Tks Done it and have enough money for 908 HDi

I have always thought it sort of silly that any event would have restrictions that made you drive with Comfort tires. If you are racing, it seems unreasonable to run anything less than sport tires. Sure it makes it harder to run on something less than sports, but would anyone really enter a race or even run hot laps on standard/comfort tires?

Maybe if you want a challenge.

Its all very well for some people to say that these events are easy, but I doubt many of them are using comfort hard tyres and nothing else to make it any easier

I've sent email to Polyphony to urge them to put the restrictions back on. Please do the same.

They have totally killed the game with the removal of restrictions - now the amount of XP and the level the player's got is totally unrelated to skills. And I say that as a newbie to GT, trying to drive properly (all off except driving line and ABS@1) and level up slowly but the seasonal events give me so much XP that throw me way up in terms of level even without advancing slowly through the A-spec races. Yeah I might have ignored them but I haven't actually noticed the restrictions have been removed before jumping into the Mini challenge in a "reasonably" tuned Mini and winning on 1st attempt :-) In the first batch of events I was happy for a bronze or 5th finish etc. and truly enjoyed the earned cash/XP.

Also I am kind of upset that the events limited to a specific car limit the car down to single model - I have won a standard Prius somewhere but I can't use it in the Prius race.

I guess PD is struggling hard to find the right balance... at first the progressing through levels was too slow and forced the people to grind, now it's the opposite. Maybe if the seasonal events would give crapload of Cr. but standard or just slightly more XP it would be better.

Wow, they must had made some mistakes, probably forgot to put restrictions. I really love this part of the game because it is challenging , but this seasonal event #3 is disappointing.

I have been reading this thread for a while and have been amazed by the negativity and bickering.

The idea of the seasonal events was to allow access to fast XP and game cash as a result of GT fans being stuck or limited within the A and B Spec game modes.

The seasonal events came about at our request so why are some of you moaning?

If you are a novice, tune your heart out, enjoy the races and aim for gold.

If you are experienced or dare I say Fast and the cash or XP Isn't why you're doing these events then run them to suit what you are looking for in a sim driving experience.

Thank you Pd for giving us 3 seasonal events in a very short time

Sure. The idea was great, you could earn significant and well deserved XP and cash even if you finished 7th in any of the seasonal events. The top drivers could win even more if they invested more time to perfect their skills - exactly what the XP represents.
With the restrictions lifted, anyone can win a million Cr. just by buying the car, tuning it to the max and winning the race by a crazy margin.

Now what's the result? The XP which was until now a good representation of anyone's progress through the game, fairly comparable and something worth to be proud of has become a worthless number because some people wanted all within 1 month from the game release. Unfortunately this approach that PD succumbed to has the potential to make a mess of this game even for the hard-working pack.

What do I want to say? There was nothing wrong with the restricted events. Even if you did not win you have got a massive career boost (I discovered the events late, was bronze, 4th and 6th in three races of the first series and got 2 or 3 levels up and all cars I bought paid off + I have learnt a lot about tuning without necessarily having to increase BHP or decrease weight).

+1 to this. I can't believe it's 2011 and here we are with people still concerned with racing against AI. These bonus races were put there by PD so people could get some much needed cash and XP. Not so some arrogant wannabe AI racing "elitist" with his Stig replica helmet strapped on too tight can complain that it's not hard enough because people are allowed to do what it takes for them to get said cash and XP. Nothing in any way forces you to upgrade, you're not competing against people who are upgrading, so why in the world you have a problem with players getting the cash the way they want to is beyond me.

It's really simple. If you want it to be challenging. Then run the cars stock or on the crappy "comfort" tires that have no business ever being on a track in the first place. You'll even get the added bonus of extra money. Because the guy that maxes his car out for these things make less money than those not spending money on parts.

But it still understeers like an oil tanker.....

I did the same HP upgrades as finnracer but I had a Sport suspension kit + Weight Reduction 1 + flywheel & clutch, too. I was able to pull into first in the 4th lap. You could probably pull it off without my upgrades, though. Like any other car, you just have to learn to drive it.
