Nurburgring - Volkswagen Golf Cr. 750,000 exp 90000 - 1 lap

Please discuss anything about this race here.

This newest batch of bonus races seems to be easy to do with some stock/lightly modded cars, but for those who want to make them competitive, here's the times the fastest car seems to put down for each race. I also included the tires that the computer uses.

For example, in the Volvo race; the Focus RS is the fastest car you face. He should do a total time of 11:52 give or take some milliseconds. If you take your C30 into practice and tune/de-tune it to achieve laps of 2:24, you should finish the race in about 11:52. This way those who want to make these as competitive as possible can use practice to figure out how to do so.

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Track: Nurburgring Nordschleife
Total Time: 8:33
Number of Laps: 1
Tires used: Comfort Soft

Any generation of Golf will do?

I sense a great opportunity to use my recently acquired MkI GTi... :D

Even the RM Mk.IV is eligible.

Bought the '05 Golf GTI some Sport Medium Tires and had a go. First try 5th. Second try 3rd. Came short 5 second from the leader. Used a controller. Try again these days with my Fanatec wheel. Sure I'll be at least that 5 seconds quicker.

Love these Nordschleife races.

Ok, The RM isn't eligible even though it shows up as one of the usable cars in the garage for the event.

I had the same thing happen to me with the lotus special event in the last series.

I managed 5th in a bone stock MkV with several off track excursions.
After ripping out some seats and an ECU tune it should be no problem.

Hopefully another Mk1 will show up in the lot so I can make a little track toy out of it though.

Did it quite easily in a MKI golf (just happened to buy one last night by coincidence) tuned it to 199 bhp, sports suspension and racing softs.

In fact I really enjoyed the drive, lovely little motor.

Loved this race but sure wished I could find an old Rabbit/Golf to do the race again with! Just have not seen any pop up at the used car dealer!

Any one want to trade for one?

Do it! I did, gave it a little tickle with the tuning stick and won by 40 seconds! lol, it did the entire lap in 8:00.565 and would have been quicker if I hadn't bumped into the back of the New Beetle RSi on a tight uphill right hander.

I just acquired the MkI a few days ago with the plans of making something fun to drive. I personally have owned 2 Gti's a MkII and a MKIV. Anyway STOKED to see this event up. Now I must say I am a crappy GT5 driver, I was able to get 3rd with roughly 180bhp and stock weight. Other mods were custom suspenders and a new transmission. Really really fun event though. Even if I do win it, I think I will continue to race it and slowly de-tune My MkI VW for giggles and grins. Maybe I can get it to win with just a diet and suspension? who knows?

I've just won it fairly easy using the MK1, sports medium's, max weight reduction and 178bhp. Stock suspension/transmission.

I bought a Lotus and RM'd for that event to find out it didnt work so had to buy a new one. lol

MKI was definitely a blast for this event, I am not a great driver so I fully upgraded it and spent some time tuning, then I turned off the heads up and did it from bumper cam (would have done driver's seat, but alas....standard model).

Sits up so high you feel like you are driving a truck!

I might de-tune the car and do it again, even though I know I get no credits/xp for it.

Mk V and sports hard tyres only is giving me a close race - I'm currently 2 seconds behind at the end. Should be able to find that somewhere - hopefully...

This event in my 167hp Golf I is the best fun I've had in GT5.

Wish A-spec was "catch up with 11 cars" like the seasonal events, instead of "race against 6 slow cars to the first corner, and 1 fast car till the finish line."

I used a Mk 5 with hard sports tyres and a new LSD with the acc and braking values turned down a little. I haven't had that much fun racing in quite a while.
Beat them in the final corners after the home straight.

Lightly modded GTI 05 was an absolute blast on this event, my favourite track and I'd only bought the Golf last night, too. Forgot to save my replay though! That's a shame, I'll *have* to do it again later!!

Really enjoyed this latest batch of events with stock cars, no aids and just stickier tires.

Bought a Mk 5 and raced it completely stock, with Comfort Sport tires and just an oil change.

Managed to beat the New Beetle RSI at the last corner. It was a pretty fun race 👍

I did filter, ecu, and exhaust and stuck on sports soft.

Total overkill, as I'd overtaken the leader before carousel 2 (can't remember which corner) and ran a sloppy 8.15 or something. Going to have to try it with the comforts on and see what I'm made of! The golf is so composed it was a fairly boring drive on sports tyres.

Used '05 Golf GTI stock the 1st time and came up 4th. Then added sports hard, ECU, filter and exhaust. Well that was over the top and an easy win. Going back and will start peeling off the power layers.

I have to say this Golf handles like a dream straight out of the box. It truly amazed me.👍 :)

Anyone managed to win this event with a stock Golf V (just oil change)?

I'm pushing really hard but can't do better than 4th at 8.5 seconds...

MK 5, full stock (even without oil change), sports hard tyres ONLY, race of all races.

Hum? It's not that hard really, the Mark V has amazing handling and stability. Just don't come into the corners too late and you can breeze through them.

It also helped that I've been driving around the Ring a lot in the past days.

Really enjoyed this event tonight. I love driving the Ring and I have a Golf in real life.

Win-win for me :D

I think he was questioning your typo of "comfort sport tires".

Same, I've got an 09 GTI, fun little car.

I was wondering what kind of tires you used, since the "comfort sports" tires doesn't exist in this game.

I believe it's doable, just came 3rd at 4.5 seconds.

Edit: good guess freedomweasel
