Seasonal Event 4 - Nurburgring - Volkswagen Golf

Golf GTI Mk I with these mods:
ECU
All intake and exhaust mods
Fully customizable transmission set to 230km/h
All drivetrain mods except LSD
Sports soft tires

Lost by 2 seconds. Not happy. Added stage 1 engine tuning to bring power up from 136hp to 140. Beat the Beetle by over 2 seconds. Funny how 4hp makes all the difference. 👍

Any suspension tuning?

Stock. I'm not good at tuning suspension and the car has good balance as is.

One of my favorite seasonals. Love it in a Golf. Not too fast, so it is a great car to learn the track in. To bad I can't go back to that NASCAR event...

The seasonal events are now a piece of pee. I love all you who report your "setups" to sound cool lol. Seriously I bought the 05 Golf + racing hard and won first time by a country mile. No need to play with the setups.

None of the other cars are using tires even close to racing tires (sports medium at best is my guess). You might as well have double your horse power. If you choose appropriate tires you may have to change the cars setup to win, depending on your skill level.

Back on Topic
After about an hour of trying, I was able to take first place in a stock '05 GTI (no oil change) using sport hard tires.

I couldn't get close enough to the first place car on the long straightaway to draft off it, and the third place car would draft off me and pass me (if I let it by). I had to stay behind the second place car, draft off it on the long straight, and slingshot past it about halfway down the straight. Then I would have enough speed to catch the first place car right at the last corner.

Judging by the 5 pages of this thread, it seems PD gauged the difficulty about right for this test - some of this will be down to the track though I suspect...

I did like the challenge of #1 but didn't have the time to invest to gold each one, and I think #5 are too easy. Guess you can't please everyone all the time...
