Seasonal events = A way for weak drivers to get ahead.

If you think what seasonal even did is "keep the game fun״, go play Need For Speed, you'll have a blast.

Need for Speed was probably harder than GT5, even if you play GT5 with fair cars. Maybe you should go play NFS, where the AI has boost and you unlock stuff after beating race bosses and what not, since you're not looking for great physics and online racing.

Also, where is NFS's 1000 cars, physics, GT-esque online race mode?

What do you mean for "me"?
The FGT race was a disappointment, and that's with a stock FGT.
I could drop to last and take first again in 3 laps.

Is there a not stock FGT?
forget it, you agree with me but complain against what I say..
That's the latest fashion here.. Even more than whining.
Talking back against what someone else said.

BYE ALL!

I'm at level 29 and the seasonal events barely make a dent in my level bar. When these were brought in they only took me up by a few levels and that's it as I was playing from release day. If people have recently bought the game it may well take them upto level 20 straight away but it won't take them a great deal further will it?

Oh god..

<---- Look what this thread did to my face..

 Thanks for the laugh, the best post in this thread 👍

This is the key word.

It's not a skill level competition. It's not a metric for how awesome you are. It's a game - something to do in leisure time and enjoy. Games that aren't fun for everyone who play them are games that don't sell well - or ship sequels.

Why shouldn't someone not as good as you get the same enjoyment out of the game? Why shouldn't you get the same enjoyment out of the game as someone much better than you? To someone else, you are a weak driver.

It's a game. It's not that important.

I could have made the FGT race easier and popped on Racing Softs.
I agree that it's a way for new drivers to get ahead in the game, but isn't that a good thing?
So they get to enjoy more of them game.
Say you were level 25 and you did the Seasonal Events, you would still level up.
Everyone gets the same XP so I don't see how it's a bad thing.

I know I shouldn't care how other people are playing their game,

^ This.

I have a good friend (and yes we are very competitive) who got the game for Christmas. I sent him a couple of cool cars to get started and told him to do the seasonals to get alot of money and xp quickly. He's now 25th level.

And this affects me not at all. In the end we can always go online and settle the argument of who's best.

Who has the most cars, the highest level, or anything else means SQUAT when you're head-to-head in equal cars.

i can't believe the answers i'm getting from people who are supposed to be fans of gt in previos years..
This seasonal even thing is way too easy to take part in this game.
And it's a big part as it gives more reward than the hardest races in extreme events for example.
But you all think it's fun and cool..
I'm done posting here.

hahaha

GT5 has a simple yet effective difficulty setting (aside from the assists), You get to choose the car you race with, how simple is that? So i do not get it when some folks complain that it is too easy or too hard, each person can choose how to play the game. This is a positive thing.

Seasonal Events are PD's way of saying sorry for the whole levelling thing. They should patch it out and use the licenses as a way of accessing am/pro/expert etc.

I dont think it's much of an issue being denied access to entire sections of a game until certain requirements have been met, but individual races on a level by level basis is too far.

I think the OP is wearing the sad face of someone who spents hours refreshing the UCD and not actually racing and feels aggrieved that a patch removed a totally thoughtless mistake on PD's part.

I don't think they are too easy money/exp. Earning 1 million in GT2 took only 10 to 15 minutes as you could win prize cars over and over again, from just one race (when the most expensive cars cost only 2 million) and you could buy the ultimate-crush-everyone-car, Escudo, with only 2m, without the need for any levels. Call that hard?

But the seasonals were a lot funnier when they had strict limits on power, weight and tyres. Winning them actually gave a feeling of achieving something.

The seasonals should be prohibited to level 20 less.
I got level 25 without seasonal events.
And the FGT without them.

Even then, if he did work like mad to get lots of things before 1.05, unless he unlocked literally EVERYTHING, the money and XP help him as much as anyone else. It perhaps helps him more, as the money from seaonsals doesn't need to be used to progress, but instead buy cars of his choosing for sheer enjoyment.

So did I. But why would that make me want this: "The seasonals should be prohibited to level 20 less." ?

Nice. Here's your badge of honor. Wear it proudly.

By the time I had enough cr to afford the FGT, I didnt need it. I have 2, and only used them for the FGT race.

Why not just have a level restriction that raises for each race?

Race 1 - Level 0
Race 2 - Level 5
Race 3 - Level 10
Race 4 - Level 15
Race 5 - Level 20

That said, I don't care if there's level limits or not. A lot of people were discourged by A-Spec's low rewards. Seasonals has made the game more fun for people who aren't that good at racing, or don't have the time to invest into this game. That's a plus point in PD's favour.

It takes around 34,600,000 xp to go from level 0 to level 40. If someone starts off now, with the seasonal events they get a nice boost and get to around level 22 or so.
If someone has had it for 2 months like myself, I've done all the events upto endurance and a few of them. The 350,000 on offer from the seasonal events will help me get from 32 to 33.

To sum up, if you are just starting you get a boost, if your 2 months in you get a boost. Both camps will have to grind whatever is on offer. Seasonal events has merely extended the time before grinding is needed. And the seasonal events are a great addition.

All this Seasonal Event whining is really getting old, no matter what angle people try and argue against it from.

Don't like people getting all this money? Shame money is pretty much irrelevant and everyone has access to the same amount/cars.

Don't like people getting all the XP? Being a higher level doesnt magically improve your driving skill, and everyone will reach the point where they need to repeat races anyway.

Don't like the fact there are no restrictions? Now. This is YOUR problem, if youre doing them with racing soft tyres and a stage 3 turbo you are the idiot depriving yourself of a fun race. If you can't set yourself boundaries on what tuning/tyres you can do to your car thats your own damn problem and you should really stop clogging up the forum with this same dross every week.

Well put. 👍

Indeed.

Now that's sorted, GUARDS! Fetch the chains and throw this thread in the dungeon!

It all comes back to : Does it matters?

In the short term, to some people it would appear so.
In the long term, no.

I worked hard for a month and saved up to buy a FGT when it comes up in the ucd. And now a friend of mine bought the game in in less then a week he's already bought a FGT!

Ok, and?
If you waited to buy the game in january, you wouldn't have to grind the first 25 levels either.
No one likes a whiner.

PD should have kept them HARD. A bit less hard though.

The current level system is not about skill, it's about who has the most time. The seasonal events level negate the need for time. People complaining about that are obviously afraid to get their butts kicked now that the playing field is even. :sly:

A weak player can beat almost all the Aspec races with overpowered cars anyway, it just takes longer.

I've fallen into the same jealousy trap many times before; spent absurd amounts of time perfecting my lines, braking, corner exit, etc. w/ the given car in stock form on sports tires only to have my friends beat the entire series of events in an hour or two w/ their max tuned beasts.

While I do feel a bit sorry for them that they're missing out on the fun I'm having, that's their loss, not mine and I only tend to find it frustrating when I lose sight of that fact.
