right on the money! they should make it with actual weather change though.
 
Damn it. Why can't they put anything what the players want? The MErcedes event was Ok and so was NASCAR, but there really should be something that isn't in GT5 or has left as nearly unused like the rally.
 
I expect to see retread tyres in the next patch,all seasonal time trials will be on retreads.We need a sub-forum titled "seasonal event sports-comfort tune's".Id put a thread asking for a "Takata Dome NSX 03 tune on sports hard".Think ill give up.
 
I don't normally indulge in these wishlist threads, but after seeing that the new seasonal is a Mini challenge, I find myself wishing they'd do something other than recycle the events from the main game. Even just doing a few one-make seasonals would be nice - there a humndreds of cars they could choose from, so why not pick one of the ones that we haven't had to use already? Force us to try something new, sort of thing?

Yeah but make it a reasonably proced car challenge. One Lap, Standing start.
No Skid Recovery Force
No ASM
No Traction control.

Have restrictions but allow them to be less intense than SLS challenge. let a driver pick a line and not get punished for having a wheel on the grass.
 
Maybe they should have some manufacturing rivalries. like subaru vs mitsi or old rufs vs countachs. and then the player can choose one of two manufacturers cars.
 
I am starting to give up playing GT5, every week less and less. Maybe because there has been nothing new since NASCAR and for that there was a looooong period of nothing new nor cool.

Edit: In the Minis, there is again Tsukuba, worst track of 'em all. And the Minis were also featured in the game earlier.
 
^ Same here. I only really play the seasonals, but that suits me fine as I don't get much gaming time anyway.

They could have been a bit more imaginative with this latest seasonal, the past few have been pretty good. '98 Mini Coopers at Eiger would be a blast, as would the same cars at Rome re-enacting The Italian Job. :D

They'll probably put in the gears for Vettel, Loeb and Stig eventually, so here's how I think the seasonals for them should run...

Top Gear seasonal:
Laguna Seca Raceway - Honda NSX Type R '02 - 5 laps (inspired by GT4 vs real life clip) Prize: Ticket with random car w 1:25-1:30 lap time IRL on TG
Nurburgring Nordschleife - Jaguar XFR - 1 lap (inspired by <10:00 Nurb challenge clip) Prize: As previously but 1:20-1:25
Cote d'Azur - Fiat 500 (tuned to Abarth specs, similar to SLS from AMG Academy) - 5 laps (inspired by hot hatch comparo clip) Prize: As previously but 1:15-1:20
Top Gear Test Track - McLaren MP412C - 10 laps Prize: Stig suit

Rally seasonal:
Custom Toscana track - Toyota CELICA GT-FOUR Rally Car (ST205) '95 - 5 laps Prize: Rally Base Car ticket

1a - Modern American Musclecars, max. 580pp, 2 laps.

2 - Vintage Italian Cars, max. 540pp, 1 lap.
2a - Modern Italian Cars, max. 580pp, 2 laps.

3 - Cars from United Kingdom, max. 1200 kg, max. 540pp, 1 lap.
3a - Cars from United Kingdom, min. 1200 kg, max. 580pp, 2 laps.

I would race these seasonals over and over again and love every minute of it :-) .

I'll second this. These have always been the seasonals I've enjoyed the most. I personally like playing ones that require a partical car, or type of car. Usually end up playing with a car I haven't driven yet, so I tend to find a "new favorite". Lately the seasonals have been lacking, kinda boring. Hopefully they improve them soon.

Yes, let's hope so :-) . It puzzles me why they removed all the old seasonals.
 
I would like to see more non-tuning time trials. It would make these events more exciting.

If you want competitive time trials without tuning you should try the weekly driving skill competition which can be found under the gran turismo 5 section of the forums :)
 
I'd like to see an expert event Stefan Bellof Challenge - gold would be to hit 6'11.12 at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The expert part is, you have to use a Group C or LMP car that is limited to roughly what Bellof had at the time in his Porsche 956, so you would only get 620hp, 800kg minimum weight, and no more than 685pp (all the aero you want but some cars will need extra weight). Goes without saying that you get no driver aids apart from ABS 1. Also, you will do the lap on Sports Medium tires.

Usually I'm not fond of arbitrary tire limitations but this forces you to really listen to the engine and use your right foot very, very carefully and accurately. And some cars with big turbos are beasts to handle on SM tires, even when limited to 620hp. Most of the cars I tried are right around 6:15 with the above limits, but a few can hit the 6:11 range and two that I tried were faster than that (the Minolta of course, and also the Bentley).

Come to think of it, I think there should be a Stefan Bellof trophy, really... but maybe we'll have to wait for real Porsches in GT(6?) first.
