Seatle, why is it so bad?

i like the seattle course (cept the jumps) but i get frustrated how the cars your racing against seem to fly at top speed round the double chicane without hitting the side...anyway seems strange how folks are either a fan of the ss11 route or the seattle route but not both...

i hate the ss11 route the most of all the circuits beacuse of the cheating that goes on when your competition (the AI machine) can do 10 laps of it without a tyre change and still maintain thier control and speed..

but i find that the jumps in seattle are easier to control at high speed if you take you foot/finger off the gas while your in the air...

by the way, i dont know if it is spelled 'chicane'....just a guess..:)

Heh, I like both SSR11 and Seattle.

And as to the tyre wear bit - use Super-Slicks. ;)

do you mean super soft?...whenever i do use those, there shot after one lap...

i do like the technical aspect of ss11, if i could fix the tyre wear prob in the longer races i can win it hopefully...i love to use the FTO LM race car, Altezza LM race car and the Zonda race car but after one lap on super softs i have all the control of a giraffe on ice skates!........help?

Man - nothing but net on that one!

No - the superhards are known as superslicks. The hardest racing tyres.

fanx guys...i'll try that soon....SandStorm & Vat man...i have a question....

whats the point of the car wash? do the road cars get dirty? does washing your car give you any advantage in the way that changing your oil does?

okay its a race to see who answers first...

It was rumored to decrease wind resistance. My thoughts: It keeps the cars looking pretty.

Seattle...What can I say about this accursed track? No traction, The Jumps, the Blind corners hidden in shadow, the final chicane that the AI thinks they can take three wide, the "Bo and Luke" style rumble strips (I swear conrete blocks would have been better), the Railroad tracks/launch ramp. The fact that I still can't get a clean lap around this track. I think I've managed a total of 10 clean laps in over a year and a half of playing.

I love the Seattle track, both normal and reverse.
And i am very glad to hear it will be in GT4 also.

I can't really explain why i like it so much. It just has everything i like in a track.

WOW, I must be the "Wierdo" here. (Well, anyone who knows me will attest to that) but I really like Seattle in either direction. Could do w/out the jumps but I've done so many laps there I really don't notice them any more. I think the RR Tracks just add a little extra challenge & find it particularly satisfying to drift over them & maintain a proper line. Have taken to trying to win the Enduro in underpowered cars, with the "Pitz" being the least powerful I've yet to win with.

Hey ving, great to see a post from you w/No Mention of a
Fix It Again Tony !!!...UB57

You're not the only weirdo here. :D I love Seattle as well, IMO it's a beautiful circuit with good, sharp corners and flowing ( I think ) corners (IMO). The jumps is a great addition too :D

Seattle isn't my favorite streets course. i rather prefer Monaco. But if Polyphony Digital was gonna do a Street course, could we possibly get Long Beach, or Streets of Willow Springs for the next installment? How about Road Atlanta? Or Brno in Oslo? Those would be fun with GT's great modeling and physics engine.

street circuits, i know games have done them before but i would like to see PD make London, Paris, Dublin and Edinburgh.....Edinburgh would be crazy difficult with the wee hills and very narrow cobbled streets...

i am sure PD could do a good job...

What about the F1 courses from the 60's & 70's?

Or the Isle of Man TT?

Jumps have always been a part of racing, its just that today's tracks have been sanitized in the name of safety.

I love Seattle, with the jumps. It is one of my favorite, if not my favorite track in the game. I like the way the cars look in the replays when they go over the jumps. If you ask me, I think they should leave that course the way it is.

Seattle is great. The road isn't too wide and the corners are nice and technical. The road rises and lowers on many places, which gives the track a lot of variation. You can't see the corners ahead that well due to the fence, which gives some extra thrill, especially when drifting. Oh and i really don't mind the jumps.

Wow, that motorbike sure got some air!

Do you know how many people died racing F1 in the 60's and 70's. Racing F1 back then was very dangerous.

And besides that, I'm sure those F1 cars didn't have to make a turn right after landing like you do on both Seattle and Seattle 2.

I do like the layout of Seattle... just not the jumps and the tracks.

From the GT4 Preview I saw today it does indeed look like there's another Japanese Road Course coming. I also saw an American Street Course & what appears to be a new "Mini-Cooper" on a VERY NARROW street, Old Town Tokyo perhaps???...UB57

hey, give us a link to it :)

I want Nuburgring Nordelscheife...22.8 kms of pure track! :D

Hey, I don't think theres anything wrong with the little jumps on the hill. THey were in GT2, so you can't get rid of them in GT4. PLUS... its seattle, its meant to be hilly, lol.

BTW, I never jumped on the bandwagon as hating Seattle. It is a difficult course. But it does challenge.
You gotta love that.
After YEARS of playing these games, I'm finally learning that there are some places on some tracks where going slow is the key to being fast. Seattle is one such track.

i love seattle, one of my favorites. Actually i like those jumps/hills especially when going down hill. It's also my favourite drifting track!
