Yeah, literally just figured that out. Whoops :O

Feel really bad now...
I'm sure he'd forgive you.
I'll be curious to know how many people died in a car crash vs from ill effect from tobacco?
Not half of the users.

Interesting almost random fact; the introduction of a national speed limit in the UK is popularly and erroneously attributed to someone who didn't have a driving licence, however, at the time few vehicles were capable of exceeding the prescribed 70mph limit!

I heard it was brought in as a temporary limit whilst something was being sorted out and they just never got rid of it.

Probably just the sort of spin they always tell the peasants to stop them from being revolting.

Not the case , it was because the ac cobra went upto 180mph and was using the motoway as a top speed test track .

"at the time few vehicles were capable of exceeding the prescribed 70mph limit".

"The reason given was a spate of serious accidents in foggy conditions, but it is often claimed that the MoT had been alarmed by AC Cars testing their latest Cobra on the M1 at speeds up to 180 mph.
It was confirmed as a permanent limit in 1967, by which time Barbara Castle (a non-driver) had become Minister of Transport. There was surprisingly little debate at the time: the fact that the average family car of the time could only just exceed 70 mph perhaps had something to do with this."

The World Health Organisation, amongst others, has studies proving otherwise.

"Tobacco products are the only legally available products that can kill up to one half of their regular users if consumed as recommended by the manufacturer.
...
Studies show that tobacco marketing recruits new tobacco users, maintains use among current users, reduces a tobacco user’s willingness to quit, and encourages former users to start using tobacco again. Therefore, only comprehensive bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship are truly effective at reducing tobacco use."

Advertising works shocker! I miss the bit where if you start smoking as an adult, you are 100% responsible for doing that yourself.

All this talk of tobacco and cigarettes reminds me of Bill Hicks. He liked to tell people who didn't smoke that "non smokers die every day". He also said "I've got loads of cool stuff waiting for me when I get sick, it's you people dying of nothing that are the problem".

Anyway, back on topic. Some amazing racing cars had tobacco sponsorship (Silk Cut, Rothmans, JPS, Camel etc).
If any of them make it to GT, they can always bar out the lettering but keep the colours (like the Jaguar XJR-9). It will still be recognisable buy true motorsport nuts but, not be influential to the soft little brains of the young and infirm.

Marlborogh did this with their F1 sponsorship, they just turned it into a barcode. We all knew what it was though.

No idea, but a majority of car crashes are people who use the car as a tool to get somewhere, with a few from motorsport, which in some cases is a job and others a hobby. The same can't be said of smoking, as it serves no essential purpose. Banning cars would cause a transportation nightmare for many, banning cigarettes wouldn't have the same effect.

In Forza, DLC cars such as the Sport quattro S1 and the Porsche 962C still had their tobacco/alcohol sponsors in place.

One potential idea for the reason was that DLC packs that add extra content for in-game (i.e. car packs, skin packs, etc.) don't have to be given age ratings as opposed to full on expansion/add-on packs, which means stuff like this slides under the radar. Since Senna's car would be coming through a free update, they might be able to slip it in unaltered as it technically isn't already on the game disc. Then again, Kaz's Evo V from GT2's language select screen had Winfield sponsoring, and that had the traditional barcode censorship done to it for that one image. Hell, you might argue that's why it was taken out of the game.

But don't forget GT2 was released in 1998/99 when the world was more lenient on tobacco sponsorship/advertising.

Yeah, I realised that reading it back after I posting it. Off-topic, but I wonder if Kaz still has that Evo. Would be cool to see it premiumized; I'd happily pay for it!

I really hope they launch it in May 1st!! My birthday!! It would be AWESOME!! haha

Cigarette, that is :sly:

I have yet to see any drug dealer sponsorising race car

Walter white was more of an air race guy :sly:

Nah but seriously nothing wrong with a little liquor and tabacco sponorship. Hell Hesketh had penthouse sponsorship on their cars back in the 70s.

Considering kaz is a well known heavy smoker we may have hope, he use that loophole I would , just to be true to history imagine a ww2 game without the swatsiga I just wouldn't be right

Senna's car? Marlboro Maclaren MP4/4??!?!?!?!?!?!? OMG....

I think that what should happen is just a 8500% tax on cigarettes. Stop smoking, it's my air too.

Why? Kids can see tobacco adverts legally at convenient stores, just like they can see alcohol advertisements all the time on TV. Doesn't mean they have to do it. Kids can make whatever choices they want, turning 18 doesn't magically change your decision making processes overnight like some kind of invisible barrier!

That depends on where you live. Here (and I think in all of the EU), tobacco advertisment is banned. Also since a couple of years ago, all tobacco products must now be hidden from sight behind the counter. The logos of the different products can't be shown, only a blank space with a number for each product. If the customer don't know the number of the product he/she wants, he/she must ask the cashier who will check the number from a list. Since that change, the only times I as a non-smoker see a tobacco logo, is when I see an empty pack lying on the ground.

No, unfortunately turning 18 doesn't improve decision making, but it is a question about responsibility. A lot of people are not ready for decisions like whether or not to smoke at 18 while other may be ready at a younger age. However at some point, the responsibility must transfer from the parents to the individual himself. It has been determined that 18 is a reasonable age for the average person to take responsibility.

It is not a viable argument to say that kids "don't have to do it" and they "can make whatever choices they want". Kids are kids, and can't properly understand consequences of their actions. That is why parents are responsible for their kids. When ads are shown to kids, they can't crically assess the consequences of using the product, and that is why kids are so vulnerable to advertisment of unhealthy products.

IWE
Lol! And why not requesting PD to remove Delta S4 from the game, because of what happened to Henri Toivonen..
Well it's a bit late for that, isn't it? Anyway, crashing is always a risk in the WRC, especially with group B.
Really, I'd hate to see that 🤬 Williams in GT6 because they tried to hide any mechanical faults present before the crash by tampering with the construction of the chassis and part of the telemetry device. Anyway, McLaren and Lotus were somewhat superior through Ayrton's time in F1. I'd much rather try and drive one of those cars instead.

Kaz stated that most likely Senna stuff will come around May next year. We will see...

KAZ OF STUPIDITY
He also stated GT7might be out just early 2014 maybe around March, "best case scenario"
