Serious Question...

You sure you didn't mean to say Dale Earnhardt Sr? He even rammed the pace car!
I'm sure, I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, make a Nascrap reference. EVER.

I have 2 answers to that question...The first is that GT is a japanese game, and Japanese people are very very childish...They think it adds some fun to the game when ramming eachother...

But there is also a different answer to the question...And that is that the AI in generel do not ram YOU...It is YOU who ram into them...I have watched a lot of races from the AI view, and they actually did not ram me, it was either my own fault, or me who rammed them...

BUT it is very hard to avoid it...You only have 3 laps (mostly) to win, AI is extremely slow on steering in, but very fast on the exit, so You mostly overtake them by outbraking them...And at the exact point where You pass them, on the in steering to curves, You feel they ram You as a punishment for outbreaking them...Try look the incident(s) from inside AI...It is You who comes roaring, braking late, and whirls inside them...They get a little chock over You I guess...

Japanese people are childish? Dumbest. Statement. In. This. Thread. As for the rest of it, the AI definitely rams you. Plenty of times in the 24 minute Nurburgring race, I get one on my rear and all they do is ram. (I drive a street car in that race for fun) Definitely not my fault, it's the AI. This happens in other races too, so just because you rammed the AI in your race, it doesn't mean that's how it is.

LOL my statement on Japanese people was 75% for the fun; however, there might be a little truth in it...Or perhaps it`s just Kaz and his PD crew who are childish??? Lets make some BUMBUM AI´s man, yeah, HAI...

OK when You say it`s allways the AI`s fault when they ram (or contact) You, I will choose to believe it, and I can only speak for myself...But have You tried to watch the race from the AI cars? - I have, and it seems that it is always (or mostly) me who cut right in before them on exit from curves.

However; I will not "defend" the AI, as they drive insanely slow on the curve entrance, and when You think they`re finished with breaking, they brake some more....

Oh waitaminute...I recall a socalled "Mission Race", think it was Mission 5 in the National B or something, that Nissan GT/R on Silverstone...I had some troubles with that one, not knowing the track so well, and the other AI GT/R was a complete terrorist, ramming me off on purpose, just because he could, and his car was faster than mine, so it was in fact an "escape from him race". - I didn`t bother to see all my failured attemps to beat that mission from the AI`s view, I simply pressed restart instead. - And when I finally golded it, I only looked the replay from my own car...And didn`t save it...Anyway I had the feeling he rammed me purposedly over and over... Or was it me, who cut right in, in front of his faster car??? Would be interesting to do that race (time trial in fact) again, and watch from the AI...

The very last Mission Race, in Super series, that GT40 on Nordschleife...In that "race time trial" I found the AI Ford GT VERY gentle...I watched it from his car, and he is a gentleman. I escaped from him very early, but later after a few straights, he was suddenly there again, right behind me...And he did not ram me, he avoided it clearly although he could easily have bammed me off track, if he wanted. - On the Dottinger Hohe he overtakes You clean as he`s way faster than You. In the last curves I took over, I think clean, as far as I recall...

The race You mention, 24 minutes on the Nring 24H...I haven`t had serios AI troubles in that race, they`re just annoyingly slow in the curves, especially when a bunch of them "piles up" in front of You, and it`s about impossible to get past them without contact...

Anyway, peace...

Why do you think PD allows the AI cars to ram into us? I'm sure they could have programmed such a thing out, but they chose to allow this to happen, even, dare I say, encouraged it.

I'm always trying to race the cleanest race possible, avoiding the slightest touch of any AI (hard to do since I'm cornering at twice their speed), but they literally act like I've done something to them, ramming me at any chance. Why do you think that is? What about that makes this a better racing game?

Your thoughts?
This whole thread can be answered by my thread:

Or all the increased contact by the AI speeds up the degradation of the body rigidity. Making/Hoping you spend ridiculously how amounts of credits restoring it, in the GT Auto. Microtranasactions comes to mind.

Micro transactions aren't required when you can make $2.2 mil in 24 minutes. Give me a break with the conspiracy theory. Credits aren't difficult to come by in GT6. I have 15,000 km's in the game and only had to do 2 rigidity and engine restores...

Body rigidity loss is increased with distance, not crashes.

That didnt take long to get a response - sorry for having an opinion.

And for what it is worth I don't agree with you mistersafeway, body impacts do cause the body rigidity to degrade quicker.

Your opinion isn't about GT6's AI. And it's a fairly crap conspiracy theory, when as said before, 20 minutes of racing can give you a couple of million.

You know what they say about opinions...just like butt holes, everyone has one, but some stink less than others.

I've never heard that one said before

And as your explanation to poor AI in the game is a reference to Pastor Maldonado, I shall say no more.

Why has this descended into a microtransactions debate?
Because internets...

I feel like a mistake was made and it's proving difficult to resolve. Often in career mode I felt like a trespasser on the track and the "real racers" were merely unaware of my presence, hence my getting bumped [or worse] when attempting to make things competitive by using slower cars and/or lower grade tires.

And as your explanation to poor AI in the game is a reference to Pastor Maldonado, I shall say no more.
That wasn't an explanation, it was a joke poking fun at both GT6 and Pastor Maldonado.

This isn't about the shape or size of the cars guys, the AI is freight-training me on a regular basis.

Yeah, I don't think it's about the physical boundaries of the cars vs the visual boundaries. It's a combination of the ridiculous rubber-banding that's somewhat of a necessary evil with the terrible "start at the back and hunt down the leader over a few short laps" type of format, and lazy AI programming.

Let's say there's a left hander followed by a right. You take the AI easily on the inside of the left, also setting you up for the normal racing line into the next right (seeing as you easily took the AI car and you wouldn't expect with that kind of speed difference there'd be any fight going into the next corner). Suddenly the AI you just overtook finds some speed and decides to take the racing line too. This either results in a violent side-swiping as they decide to move to the outside of the track while you're already there and right next to them, or they're behind you when they take the line and out of nowhere discover the wonders of late braking and plow straight into the back of you.

Or maybe you're coming down the inside in a perfectly clean and legit move. Does the AI leave you any racing room and try to hang on around the outside of you? No, they just turn in and aim for the apex as always. Or if you're coming around the outside, again they just run right out to the track edge on exit as if you're not there. They're programmed to run the racing line with no regard for where the player is. They're not trying to ram to player, they're driving as if the player just isn't there.

Mind you, it's not like GT is the only game series with terrible AI. Look at the CM F1 series, where as you're starting your hot lap in quali you see an AI car crawl out of the pit exit and park it on the apex of turn one just in time for your arrival. Or where every single incident is your fault and worthy of a penalty.

I can't imagine it's an easy thing to get right, but GT's AI comes across to me as if they're not even trying.
