If they had implemented a button in GT5 for free virtual money it would be blatant cheating! But now that you have to keep you PS3 open for days and weeks without being able to watch a DVD, or a Blu-Ray or play another video game for free virtual money in return it is brilliant! It takes so much skill! Only a genius would have thought of that. And it's so much fun leaving you PS3 on for weeks with the TV off! How can no other developer ever thought of that?!

It really redefines video games! They don't have to be interactive any more!

They will use them in races, and if your drivers are well trained they will win netting you free money. In reality you never have to do a remote race yourself if you don't want to, just let your buddies beat up on your drivers for free cash. Every day I get a few hundred K for free!

I get the feeling that PD havn't finished with the remote racing yet. I think what they have released in 1.06 may be more like a basic trial to see how it all works/how its recieved from players etc. and that they will work to build on it, be it with more options like choosing tracks, or setting up one make races, etc. There is an awful lot of scope for more.
Especially if they can simulate races through a central server so you don't need PS3 to host races. Theyre halfway there cos as has been said, u dont need ur ps3 on for your Bob to take part in someone else's race.

So it's a free money button that you don't even have to push a button...

FYI - You do have to push a button. In order to receive cash and exp you need to click on your driver (in the driver list) and push the "Receive rewards" button.

This feature is definately helping me with my auto addiction. Got home from work with almost 300k and was able to purchase a BMW McLaren F1 LM, WITHOUT HAVING TO LEAVE THE SYSTEM ON! Thanks to everyone that hosts and actively participates, I've been able to pick up a few other models and feel the need.

I'm hosting now, and searching mygranturismo.net for my next hit....

Seems like people are split, some do, and some don't get how the remote races work. Anyone complaining about leaving their ps3 on read this... it should help clear things up a little:

Normal remote races:
If you aren't using your driver locally for B-Spec, you can share him online.
Once shared you can't use the driver for regular B-spec, only the remote races (found in community). But then, even with your PS3 off, your friends can race their b-spec drivers against your shared driver. You earn $ and XP.

Server Standby Mode remote races:
This is what you have to leave your ps3 on to use. This allows *you* to start a remote race whenever you want from a web browser, against your friends shared drivers.


Either way, you log back in and unshare your driver when you want to use him (optional). But don't forget to cash in your rewards (found in the drivers menu of GT Life)

Remote racing is great IF you have a good host in your friends list.

I have employed a guy that I pay in tickets. 5 of my 6 drivers have 5million+.

He runs the widget while sleeping
