I know of a man in a nursing home that died within hours of eating a banana.
He wasn't allergic. However, his potassium was really high, and he had a heart problem.
Potassium is a potentiator for the heart muscle. Too little potassium and you've got big problems. Too much potassium, you've got big problems.
Both will cause lethal arrythmias, which will lead to cardiac arrest.

Funny thing is I heard one of the residents "admitting to his "murder"".
She was talking about what a nice man Mr. So and So was, and how she'd helped him peel a banana the day he died.

I didn't have the heart to tell her she'd likely inadvertently caused his death.

I actually used to love eatting bananas... I ate like 10 in one sitting once but after Gil's response I'm kinda wondering why I didn't hurt myself. Anyway, about 6mo. to a year ago I just all of a sudden stopped. I don't know why I just didn't want to eat them anymore. Then one day recently I tried one and hated it. So, I just don't eat them anymore.
