Should every car be available in Arcade Mode?

Personally I don't have the hours/days spare to grind enough credits to get the cars I want to drive. Coincidentally, the reason I don't have an immense amount of free time is because of my job, from which the wages went towards buying GT5 (presumably anyway).

How many times and in how many (real or fake) currencies do I have to buy the contents of GT5 in before I actually get access to them?

In saying all that, I understand the reservations some might having about allowing these "ill gotten" cars online, so for the matter at hand, consider every car unlocked for Arcade Mode ONLY.

Either make every car usable, or just make your favorites list have an infinite amount of slots. Preferably the second one, because that would imply that you have to earn the right to use whatever car you want in arcade mode.
Actually, screw that. There should be a freakin' "select from garage" option. =/

I see no logic whatsoever in not allowing you to drive any car you want in arcade mode. You wouldn't own the car, you wouldn't be able to modify it but you can drive it.

Why would you want to lock the cars away in arcade mode? It's just meant to be a place to have a quick pick up and play race or test a car out, it's not part of the game progression in career mode. Yes, it'd be silly to start with a full garage there but I see no logic not having free choice in arcade mode.

Nope. That's not how video games work, mister.

You must be new here.

Hmm....

That's not what GT's all about.

I voted no from a personal standpoint, but don't care.

Coming from someone who hasn't gotten any cars worth over 10 million credits (except one or two possibly) and will love to get that Alfa.

What is GT all about then, exactly?

You've bought the game, the cars are on the disc, why would you want to punish yourself and not allow yourself to drive them?

I'm in. I voted yes they should be unlocked in the arcade mode because I agree. Not everybody has the time to get the cars they want to drive in the game. If it will ever get changed who knows..

I wish it was more about driving. Sometimes it feels like work. When I log in it's like punching a time clock. It takes soooo much time to buy cars, maintain them, mod them, etc. I also have to maintain my items now that I've hit the max amount. I spent 30 min. the other night deleting duplicate solid white colors :ouch:. PD really needs to focus on making this game more about driving.

As far as arcade mode goes, yes I should be able to race any darn car I bought because I've spent countless hours grinding out the credits to buy those cars. Better yet, get rid of arcade mode and have an event creator in A-spec and throw in better and more configurable AI.

I have to say i like the way it is, i think if they did make a change it would be that the favorites are infinite.
I like feeling like i earned a car, and its in the color i want, tuned the way i want. I really like the current set up. Video games used to be considerably harder, games like forza i think has definite pros and cons when it comes to arcade car availability.
I just find i enjoy GT so much more, and i think a big part of that is the earning the car feeling.
But i guess it totally depends, i guess cause i have spent so much time plaing gt, that im okay with this. I know i have had the opposite feeling with other games, i don't like unlockables, but i guess for some reason i don't see gt in this light.

How would me playing as whatever car I want offline, in Arcade Mode, take anything away from the satisfaction you get from "earning" your car's?

Wouldn't mind having most cars available in arcade mode but there needs to be some of them you'll need to earn. E.g. cars over 500.000 cr. could become available when you've completed X % of the game or have a car with that value, same for cars worth millions.

I think a similar layout to GT4's would be perfect. You unlock all of the cars in arcade mode from the get go. It would also help not wasting money on cars that are expensive but handle terribly, like the Autounion from GT4.

I couldnt agree more. The arcade layout in GT4 was so much better where you chose from the manufacturer rather then scrolling through a long line of cars like in GT5.

I like how in Forza all cars are unlocked in Arcade mode because (and this is especially so with the more expensive cars) you can try before you buy and get a feel for a car and if you would want to lay down some of your credits to buy the car.

Agreed 100%.

What's the point in banning people from cars in arcade mode? There is no harm in basically being able to test drive any car you want. We really need it too since things like the UCD in its current form prevent people to get cars they want, even if they have the money. It's the least PD can do.

What pros and cons exactly because I see it as nothing but a huge plus. In Forza, even if I have every car available to me in Quick Play, it doesn't hurt my desire in the slightest to buy the car in career so I can actually own it and be given the ability to customize/tune it how I want. Heck, even with every car available, I'd still rather be spending time in career earning money to buy cars so I can do whatever I want with them. I don't understand what you're saying at all when having every car in arcade mode takes away the "I really earned this" feeling.

lol You obviously didn't get my joke. I was regarding him to being new to the gaming community as a whole, not this forum.

It's a joke you can find often on memes, I just used it to show flaws to his post. Just search "You Must Be New Here Meme." =P

That favorites list is the most irritating.. I should be able to select ALL my cars when I select one for a race.. Not be limited to 100 at a time.. That and having to go through each one to shut off the drivers aids instead of having a central menu for that are the two things I can't stand about the game.

Agreed on both counts.

I can see value both ways for having all(or at least many more) cars available as Arcade Only versions. But even more importantly Arcade needs no favorites list, it should just have a link to your entire garage. Favorites should just be a tab in your garage, and probably twice as big. Better yet, just let us make several of our own tabs to fill however we feel like sorting. Those tabs should of course all be accessible in any game mode(gotta specify that since this is a PD game we're talking about).

If anything i would almost guess for me it comes down to just enjoying GT more, and i have become used to having to earn your cars, so when you do it feels like you have achieved something. When i hot lap in forza arcade, i find i'm only in the car for a lap or two, and i don't get as much enjoyment out of it. There wasn't any anticipation to finally driving such and such a car.

But GT has always had an arcade mode with cars available, all we're asking is that all of them are available, or the vast majority.

I just find it odd to buy a racing game and then be happy that 90% of the cars are locked away from you. Besides it's hardly a great achievement to get most cars in GT5, you can start the game from scratch and have a Ferrari in 10 minutes.

They should be available in every mode. Wasting time to earn stuff gives me nothing. If you like it, go earn them, it's fine. I won't be.

If every car was available in arcade mode, what's the point of having a GT mode?
