GT5 was extremely good in 1080 HD. GT5 pulled off a spectacular feat in delivering full 1280x720p in stereoscopic 3D. Obviously several tracks looked amazing and immersed you in the game.
However it wasn't perfect, some screens were unwatchable. The 3D feature extracted most of the power from the hardware, therefore knocking other compositions of the game.

Have you looked for good settings on GTP for your 3D entertainment?

“I think with 3D TVs there are actually enough out there in the market now,” said Yamauchi. “They’ve actually sold fairly well. But I think there’s still quite a bit of room for the actual TV panels to improve to really create a more immersive 3D gaming experience. I think we’re going to have to wait for those new, better 3D panels to actually hit the market.”

When asked if GT6 would also incorporate 3D gameplay, Yamauchi said “to include 3D in the development is not very hard at all. That’s something we can do straight off, but I think we just have to wait for the hardware to advance.”

Since they already have it coded for GT5, I don't think it'd be difficult for them to include it with GT6.

GT6 will likely be a PlayStation 4 title however; could the coding be carried across easily and without any hitches?

Current 3D technology is just a gimmick, so I'd rather have them focus on real issues.
Agreed! 👍 Gran Turismo 5 is so flawed that the last thing PD should focus on is adding another gimmick which will mot likely be widely neglected. Focus on fixing the issues first!

Yes, its the next logical step up from HD TV wise, which will become cheaper and more accessible in the next few years hence why it will be far more widely used in GT6.

But it's already in the game. Nothing needs to be added... I'm pretty sure it's just a simple code that creates the 3D effect.

3D is very enjoyable in GT5. The very first lap I ran on Spa was in 3D from cockpit veiw and it was of those jaw dropping moments you can't get from other games. Cockpit, 3D set up properly, HUD OFF, simply stunning.👍 I would run 3D a ton more if it were added to the in race options, much like BGM was added. It is just too inconvienent to leave a lobby or track to turn it off or make adjustments.

PS4 should have plenty of RAM (if Sony don't make the same mistake) for it to not be a strain on the console, and seeing as Sony are the main company pushing 3-D I doubt they will not include it.

That is true. I edited my comment just as you were quoting it as I forget to add that I wondered if there would be issues carrying the coding between the two platforms.

I hope if they do add 3d, they give the player the option to activate/deactivate it as they wish. However this would require more complex coding wouldn't it? That is my main concern.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be included.
But even if they didn't, my TV plays anything in 3D (even if it isn't 3D in the first place) so I don't mind.

No, not for me. I always play GT5 in 3D nowadays. I find it to be much, much more enjoyable than in 2D. So maybe a gimmick for you, but not for all.

I've never played GT5 in 3D and I don't have a TV that supports 3D. But if other people still want 3D to be included, I'm alright with that. To be honest, I didn't realise it was that popular.

With the first GT5 release, 3D was quite bad, but from spec 2.0 (?) 3D has improved significantly and with a good 3D TV it is actually very enjoyable. I don't think playing GT5 in 3D is very popular though.

No it should not be 3D compatible; in fact I think we should start moving backwards as far as technology is concerned.

Everyone should just go back to playing on PS1....
