Now that I've achieved certain things I'm not ready and probably won't be ready to give it up. The cars for example. Closing in on 500 cars. I've not driven more than half at least. Others, have taken forever to acquire. I'm hoping GT6 will allow me to take those cars I already own into the new game along with all the tracks 5 currently have. Worked too hard and invested too much just to start over.

I want it to be a continuation and more than likely that what it will be.

GT has always has been a continuation - just add more cars, tracks and features and.. there's your new GT game. :p

Damn right...I really hope so too. Seems to be the going trend for them to build off the earlier game. If it starts on the PS4...which I dont think it will, I still think they will just build off of gt5 and refine accordingly. But, then again, I know nothing about programing either so....

Im perfectly OK with this too. But, with Forza4 around the corner, PD might need to step up the graphics a wee bit. No complaining from me though:)

GT6 should just be a continuation of GT5, by improving the AI/Damage model, adding more cars/tracks and converting standards into premiums (or removing them entirely), more races, and any other features.

Since it will be on the PS3, I'd settle for an updated and improved GT5.

Save GT7 for the PS4.

When you take away all the little small bugs and glitches that GT5 has, it is one helluva sim game. But PD has shown their stubbornness over the years and I believe that's what's stopping them from even better greatness. They think they know the best and hardly listen the voices of the gamers. Honestly, who really wanted a karting event in GT5 instead of more Nascar or Rally events?

I hate the karts personally...that should be scrapped in my opinion. Everyone has their own opinions though and I bet a lot like them. If they were going to pull away from GTs normal ways, they should have made a drag strip w/ funny cars/ top fuel....or just a regulated drag strip lol. Again, maybe GT6. Little off topic sorry.

Had I read your post I probably would have said start over.
As for the actual question you ask in the poll, no, they shouldn't "throw everything away", as for your game credits, xp, or car collection, well it would be kind of weird to start a game with everything in your pocket, sounds dumb to me.
Maybe the next COD should come with everyone killed for you too? It's not like players of past games didn't kill everyone, why should they have to do it again?

They did this for GT4...using cars from GT3 via memory cards right? I dont know about GT2 though. They could just limit you to having them in your garage ONLY until you level up to that cars Lv before you can use it. That way you cant cheat on the initial start of the game.

Scrap every single port from GT3 and GT4 and continue with GT5's base

I think PD can make GT6 in a very short time if they want !
these are the bad things about GT5 :
standard cars : they can remove them all
some graphics problems & ugly tracks : ...
some AI problems : ...
mechanical damage : they have it now
menu problems : they can make it much better in 2 hours !

COD is a "campaign" new everything. That's why you buy it. New missions; new situations.

GT is a driving/racing simulation. What are they going to do to differentiate the next one? Tweak the physics environment alittle and graphics. Maybe add more that you can do to the cars. Why not let us keep the cars we have and just add to it in 6. What's wrong with that?

A lot of people including myself would SERIOUSLY disagree with that statement lol. But other than some new features/better ways to play there's not much you can do with a racing game to make it drastically different in terms of new innovative content, especially with a game like GT.

Start Over For Sure!

Overall as far as game play goes and perhaps even replay value GT5 is close to the worst in the series. Still a great game because of all the cars, still a lots of content, and online.

GT6 needs to redo the series completely every mode needs a super duty extensive overhaul. With so many cars, 16 players it would not take much to make an incredible deep, well organized and absolute amazing and incredible game. So amazing that it would far exceed the average persons dreams of what a game like this could be. So well put together and full of content that is extremely well organized with each and every mode or event having lots of content and naturally takes you and makes you want to reach the next level. You run that next race that next event not because you need to but because you want to. You have no problems redoing any races because you know each time brings a new experience and you often do it for that alone (not the prizes, not experience points none of that).

Your idea of keeping your cars and money is stupid. You didn't get that in previous games, why should you now? But IMO, GT6 should ditch GT5, and build of GT4 or start from scratch.

to make it "drastically different"...without turning it into a cartoon.

Overhaul for sure with two exceptions...make that three...physics environment needs just a tweak....variety of cars is great...# of cars is great.

If the new game contained an A & B spec I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mess with it; even if the AI were more challenging. For me (hope you read that right, if not I'll say it again; For me I'd stick with racing online probably 95% of the time.

In GT4...you were able to transfer your A and B licenses and up to Cr. 100K from GT3. I never did this but a quick google search is all it takes. That is all I have been able to find....nothing about transferring cars but Im not 100% on that. So....Yes and No 👍👎. The "stupid" remark is unneeded and disrespectful btw. Also, PD has tried all kinds of new "stuff" in GT5. Who is to say....

Right, *facepalm*. I forgot about that feature. But the idea, the feature is stupid. New game, new start. Quite simple.

I also think it's stupid. I thought it was stupid in GT4.
But, if it's something like this many people want, as long as I don't have to, I really don't care.

To FishHunters: Updated tuning that's in real world terminology and works properly, a real paint shop, racing modifications for most cars, possible livery editor, an actual "career" mode, actually needing licenses like real life and every previous GT game, and a more interactive game (better AI), would be a nice quick list to make of things not cars or tracks to add to GT6.

It's this "all you can add is cars and tracks" philosophy that's made GT go stale.

Continue the content, but build the game from scratch. Too many bugs.

Whole heartedly agree about the content improvement and additions you suggest. Which is exactly my point. Make the improvements but let me take my cars with me. I've run my pS3 a minimum of 24hrs a week to get the cr's to buy them. I've planned and plotted and tuned and parted to get cars just the way I want 'em. Testing, track time, lap time I've got investment in those cars.

The best option
GT6 lets you have everything from the beginning so you don't need to carry over.

Second best option - PD stubbornly insists on having arcade style unlocks, but the data does transfer over.

That's just about the worst analogy you could make.

GT5 - transfer cars, credits, licenses > result you have cars, credits, licenses, and 0% game completion.

CoD analogy - you have all the guns and everyone is alive and you can play the game how you want.

By the way, starting with no cars and no money sounds extremely boring and dumb to me. So let's get rid of it since one person feels that way.

Considering it too 6 years to make GT5 and is already hammering the hell out of the PS3 hardware, how would redoing the game help? They would just run into exactly the same issues. The PS3 can only do so much (take the tyre smoke as an example - it'll never change as that's the best the ps3 can produce/render in-game). Plus, it'd still take them another 6 years to sort it, by which time a PS4 should be on the horizon.

Get rid of standard cars as a whole.

Or, why not shift all the standards to a 2nd disc, where you only install them to the HDD if you want them, freeing up more space for detailed premiums/tracks on disc 1? That would suit those that don't want standards (a pure disc 1) and those that do like them (installed and usable in-game/online).

Forza 3 had a similar 2-disc setup, installing D2 content to the HDD, keeping D1 as the 'play' disc with tracks and the game engine on.

I honestly dont want them to start over. I could immagine six years from now if GT6 was still being worked on how many people start complaining and threatening not to buy the game because its taking so long. I think they could improve on the GT5 engine and create GT6 with it with more premium cars. Also if they are going to keep the standard cars dont put them in a randomixed used car garage. Leave us buy them like we can buy the premium cars only in a standard car dealership. I honestly dont see what the fuss is with the standard cars.

Exactly, I think people are going to start chewing their own hands off within 2 years for a new game, never mind 6 (esp if DLC never comes - tracks more than cars I think).
