Should the numbers on race cars be customizable, so that your car is possibly a different number than the same cars in the race, like seasonals.
Maybe the next up-date could be something like that.

Good idea but I think no because the cars in GT5 are replicas of the ones in real life (some are good, some are bad) and on race cars everything is replicated if the same car exists in real life, including the race number. If you change it, then it's not really a true-to-life replica, not that it would matter because it wouldn't change your driving performance.

If PD are going to do something like this, then I see no problem with race car numbers being changed on premium models, but this might pose a problem with standard race cars. And I can tell you that quite a handful of race cars are standard.

Only certain ones. The replicas should have the same number as their true life counterpart. The RMs and TCs are as they should be...changeable. However, an idea would be to have an alternate version of the replica race cars to make them slightly different. For example: the same as the Ferrari F1 cars. Same team, different paint accents. It would be like having a GT version team mate that you could customize a little bit in the cosmetic department.

You can already change numbers on a lot of cars (TC, RM's etc.), I never do it so I don't care about changing them. You're blazing down the track, who's going to notice .

I think he's talking about changing the numbers on replicas of race cars that actually exist in real life such as TOM's Supra, Castrol NSX etc.

Yeah these are the type I`m referring to.
But if you can change/add performance parts, then the "Replica Car" theory is moot.
Also, I searched for a thread on this subject, didn`t find one, but why do ppl always worry about threads being duplicated, there`s enough room on the server and if you`ve read about the topic and really have nothing to say, don`t open it, scroll down...
Happy polling.

Generally the staff dont want duplicates because it clutters up the forums.

I have used the same number for 25 years. Jersey, car numbers, anything I can. It's weird and annoying to use anything else! So I vote for yes!

Do threads ever get deleted?

I have no idea good question.

No, but they do get closed.

I've been told a few times, after asking for threads to be deleted, that threads can't be "deleted" because GTP keeps track of everything everyone posts (including those edits made when people swear and are banned as a result.)

But, in the case of a duplicate thread, like this one, it's usually just closed to make more awesome threads take priority over repetitive garbage duplicate threads.

Actually I do remember one thread actually being removed from GTP (not naming what thread it was) but someone who decided they no longer wanted to be a part of GTP anymore posted lots of offensive content to the point where it was locked and removed altogether.

I ran a poll that included that question a while back, it's here if you're interested (see point 3 in the OP).

Duplicate threads?

No, he was just asking about changing the numbers on race cars. My poll was about the addition of changeable race numbers for all cars, including pre-existing race cars.

Oh.. It would be nice having changeable numbers on all cars would be great, but there should at least be an option to turn it off, because I don't want every single car in my garage to have the number 1 on it as default and can't even take it off when it's not needed or wanted.

Yes! The question in my poll was; "Would You Like The Option Of Changeable Race Numbers For All Cars?" 👍

OK, SORRY for creating a dup. thread, tried the search, nothing came up.
I looked at the orig.(?) thread/poll, and the vast majority of the replies were yes, and that`s what I thought it would be.
This is a racing game, and I`d rather have that, than more museum cards or horns.
When there are 2-3 cars like yours, the number should/could be exclusive.
PD has gone back and tweeked cars like just this update they did something with the Honda, (sound or something).
Well anyway, I hope when GT6 comes out things like this will be thought out, and cards/horns, left out.

Don't worry about it, technically this isn't even a duplicate thread because you're asking for something on a slightly different topic.

What he said, no worries mate! :D

So who uses and changes horns anyway. A horn is a horn and not really useful in racing, if I`m in front of you, you have to find a way around me, blowing a horn may create more problems than it solves.
And I can count the times I`ve actually went to the museum to look at some cards, uh, once. And I get ten a day...

It's not even the fact that blowing the horn would create problems and anger the driver in front of you. Most of the time I can't even hear horns but I guess this is realistic if the cars you're racing with are all equipped with loud exhausts.

Well, I use horns, they are pretty loud. Using a horn doesn't mean you want the person in front of you to make way for you. It means if they have done something wrong like trying to brake in front of you for no reason then I would horn them two times.

They already are on RM cars. The problem comes with licensing, the Viper Oreca Race Cars used in Le Mans, have the actual numbers, and changing the numbers makes it a problem because it's changing the car and could not carry the Oreca name. General race cars that are race modded are appeared in no specific numbers should be changeable.

Newsflash: We know they`re on the RM cars, somehow you missed the point.
If it`s a license thing, take the names off, I just want to drive the car, I didn`t buy GT to get a specific team name anyway.

I have to say yes.
Even though hardly anyone will notice, making cars unique is what i like to do to them.

No!

All Race cars numbers being changed is disrespectful to the memory and tribute to the authenticity of the race car being put into our game. Those race cars or supposed to be 100% replica.

Now if it was a custom car like a TC or RM or any GT5 Original or fake LM Race car that plays no role is actual real life racing then be my quest make it any number you want till the cows come home
