Should there be custom paint jobs on the new gran turismo?? ..and what eles do you think they should impove on in the new gran turismo?

I thnk it would be great to have that, becuase when u play online, each players car will have a diffrent look, u know, some sort of indepedence in how u want your car to look.

Custom paint would be great..and other exterior modification's would be great aswell. Like you could purchase a spoiler so you could have "downforce" as a variable on more than stock equipped cars. And if you buy racing exhaust the muffler on your car should change in appearance and if you have a N/A car you should be able to hear the airflow more.

I think you should be able to change the color of your car in GT4. I'm not sure about decals, though. There are decals in some racing games, but they kind of ruin the look of a car, so I'm not sure if they should.

I think custom paint jobs would be awesome, but I don't want crazy polka dot paint jobs and sh** like that. Just like custom colors or maybe decals. I'd love to have body kits and spoilers by companies like Cwest, Bomex, Vertex, GP sports, etc. More aftermarket wheels (sizes too, 16", 17", 18" etc).

No.

Well, duh! Of course!

Bear in mind though just what you can do with a blank canvas - and how much time you can lose...

The current vogue in OLR is a game called GTR2002 - it's basically a mod for EA's F1 2002. The latest version is for MINI Coopers - and part of the package is a blank template - mapped out in the form the game understands - which is essentially a scarlet MINI Cooper with normal chromed bits, black plastic bumpers and lights. After three days I'd created this, and was happy with it, and I'm not exactly a Photoshop dunce:

It would be fairly easy to implement a set of RGB sliders so we could choose our own color.

I'd be happy with just that, considering some cars have fairly boring colors from the dealership.

Does anyone remember a game for the 64 called Top Gear Rally? It featured a custom paint shop where u could change colors, draw, or even type text on your car. Granted, it was a 16-color nightmare and there were no replays so you barely got to see your creation except from behind, but the concept has been around for a long time. Would I like it in GT4...no. I like choosing colors that a car is really available in, in real life. Maybe choosing sponser stickers would be a good idea. And while they're at it...have the sponsers give you more money the more stickers you have.

ZZII, that feature was implimented on the game Auto Modelista, you could place stickers on most of the car, change the colors of certain parts of the car however you saw fit, i.e. The hood blue, the bumper gree, the side skirts black etc etc. And you could make your own stickers, that could have text on them.

nice 👍 but why the honeycomb effect?

Well, partly because I thought it'd look good, partly because I wanted it to be distinctive, but mainly to see if I COULD do it. And it appears I can.

I love that little car - pity everyone else I'm playing against has to do a 3Mb download to be able to see my work. Otherwise it's a "plain" blue Mini...

I would like to change the color, but not the decals. There should definately be an option to reset it to the origional. Famine makes a good point though, if there is a blank sheet, who knows what some weirdo could come up with. Right now I'm on the fence.

I'm all for it, but I think you should only really be able to do a possible custom paint job and decals when you race modify your car like in GT2. I remember they had quite a good system in Rage Racer for the PS One. I remembered also that you could do a design and it would save it and then you could implement that design on your other cars like a teams racing colours. I remember all my cars were in the Gulf colours and had great big logos saying TCR...
Also as I mentioned in another thread I think you should be able to win sponsorship deals and then you can stick there decals on your car and the more and bigger the more they pay you per race as someone mentioned earlier as well. For examble you could start off in the clubman cub and could get some small a sponsorship deal from a small company. You then have to put their stickers/decals on your car and they pay you for the sponsorship. The higher and better you come the more money you earn from them. As you progress through the races you get offered better sposorship deals which offer more money until you get the best sponsors like Castrol etc. and eventually you do so well that the makers of the car you're driving offer your backing, so you become a works car, and maybe have the manufacturers logo on there. Just a suggestion.
Also I think they should put numbers on the cars as well, even the normal stock cars like real racing, though it should be optional.

But doesn't it just annoy you when the AI turns up in the same coloured car as you WITH YOUR NUMBER on his side? :D

Eaxactly!!!!That really did get on my tits they could at least make it so your number changes. I know it's a little thing, but when a game gets that good it's the little details you pick out.
Plus I'm not saying you will have to design your own cars, it's like a side option. Like you could win the 1998 Blue R390 Nissan Le Mans car, with the original Le Mans colour scheme. But I think you should be able to buy the road going version as well and do a custom colour scheme on thatb when you race modify it (it's optional btw if you want to do your own design or not IMO).

Im all for the custom paint jobs, espescially if there is on-line racing. Oh, and I think you should be able to put decals on the car (dunno if I wil though, I still want the option), and if you hate the "ricer" look so much then, dont make your car look like one. Also, Famine your like one of the most knowledgable guys on the forum, you race in real life?

Thanks for the compliment! :D No, I don't actually race - I have no money to even buy a decent car for Autocross. I'd love to at some point though.

i really wish we could download the design on a real life car then put it on our in-game cars, if we could, this is what every one of my cars would look like:
