That's why there a different classes for people with nitrous, all motor, turbo, etc. It's not a handicap, not a cheating device, not rice, whatever.

Nitrous adds to your cars potential, so I don't understand how it ruins the testing of your car's potential.

Lastly I don't know why people are using their N2O at low speeds. Wouldn't you gain greater advantage using it at higher speeds?

I've said this other places already, but will repeat here. The hp numbers we're using (0 to 100hp is what I've heard) isn't a significant amount in the scheme of things, especially when you've already got a high HP car. The faster you're already going, the less of an impact the spray is going to make.

In drag racing terms of ET, it takes a CRAPLOAD more hp to improve .5 from 11.4 to a 10.99 1/4 run than it does to improve from a 15.4 to 14.99. It's not equal, even though the time improvement is the same. The same holds true for top speed. It takes a lot more HP to push your car through the air to gain 5mph when you're already going 170mph, then it does to gain that same 5mph from 55mph to 60mph.

Also, think of it this way. If you have a car that makes 700hp, you're not going to notice a 50hp gain like you would on a car that only makes 150 to begin with.

Lastly, for any of you who have actually used nitrous on your real cars (which I have the sneaking suspicion that VERY FEW of you have any actual experience with), you'll also know that the revs come up much more quickly when spraying, than when NA as well. If this is realistically depicted in the game (I don't have it yet) then this too it another reason to use the juice at slower speeds (Helps the engine spool up if equipped with a large turbo).

Nitrous + Racing cars around a circuit = Unrealistic.

That's why I don't like nitrous in the game. Using it in drag racing is one thing, but it plain isn't allowed in ANY road racing that I can think of when other cars are on track with you.

1000+hp Skyline crushing 300 and 400hp cars = Unrealistic...

There are more limitations on these races then GT3 and GT4 have made it out to be. There is a line between fun and so realistic its boring and complicated, and your crossing it IMO...

I discovered my car was slightly lacking in power so I was just about to revert to my old way of doing things (buy a better car) when I remembered the N2O thread. Hey, why not try this N2O out and leave the cars, who beat me 3 times in a row, choking in my dust (and N2O fumes).

So I bought the N2O and headed back to the track all confident of a shattering victory. I figured to use my secret weapon to blast past the competition and enter the first turn as the new leader. Bang off the start I gingerly pressed down on the N2O button, half expecting my Mazda ROADSTER to be launched off the track and be blasted through the advertising billboard at the end of the straight as if fired out of a howitzer. Then the N2O came on and my first thought was ... is it working? Talk about anti-climax. Those damn F&F fools have a lot to answer for!! With my N2O held on for the entire straight I managed to get to turn one in ... 6th place. Woohoo, talk about your completely unfair game-unbalancing mods. The unfair part is that I was charged 5000 credits for this, I want a refund!

The NOS experience in GT4 is very mild indeed. Slightly improved acceleration and top speed accompanied by a small hissing sound as the N2O is released - lucky the sound is there to tell you it is on otherwise you may not notice. Also the N2O lasts a fair while, I was in a 2 lap race which took 4 minutes to complete and I was using N2O and accelerator at the same time for most of the track. 122 A-Spec points only, hardly a fantastic achievement. Without NOS the same race was offering 140-160 A-Spec points, depending on the competition. A better driver could have won without the N2O.

thx for posting that. maybe now the paranoia will stop.. BTW, how muc HP did your car have? and how big was the tank?
