Hit my local record shop today. Picked up some more wax.

First up is the RSD Paparoach - Crooked Teeth.

Currently playing it and it’s well mastered, not cut hot at all and can be cranked to 11. Not the best PR album but worth the pickup.

Also picked up two Rush albums. Counterparts & Presto.

Counterparts is crazy for a ‘93 pressing in good condition. Apparently this new remaster is a little thin sounding compared but we’ll see and £40 vs £200+ is a no brainier.

Presto is similarly an expensive album not for an original pressing. From what I’ve read it also sounds thin and should have been spread across two records.

Only 7 more to go and that’s all Rush studio albums completed.

I just got this in the mail today. She-Wolf by E.K. O’Connor. It’s a sapphic retelling of the Old English epic Beowolf.

I posted about this on Bluesky. I mentioned that it didn’t have a dust jacket, and the publisher saw it. The retail version I bought did not come with a dust jacket, but they had some leftovers from the Kickstarter campaign, and they offered to send me one. Only cost me a buck eighty. So the book has had an upgrade.

I blame Netflix for introdcing me to these. Best described as cute Anime I suppose!

The figure is one of the Quintuplets and was the only UK based one I could see. Bought via Amazon. The seller used Evri which I do seem to have problems with. It arrived two days late and the outer packaging was the worse for wear. The box inside was fine fortunately

Some insignificant game pickups I suppose. Pay no mind to what’s on the far left.

Granted, the holy grail isn’t in the best shape with a water-damaged manual, but I will never get over the catharsis of catching it in the wild. No eBay here!

I got more Patreon goodies in the mail today. First is a Chinese-styled centaur sticker to celebrate the Year of the Dragon and a mini-zine titled “Things that are sparking joy for me today”, both by Yamino. Yamino and her wife create the webcomic Sister Claire which I strongly recommend.

I also got these beautiful prints from Yoshi Yoshıtani. If you’re a comic book fan, they’re the artist on a couple of DC GNs: “Zatanna and the House of Secrets” written by Matthew Cody, and “I Am Not Starfire” written by Mariko Tamaki. The theme of this set is Fairy Tale Comic Pages. The stories are Turandot, The Bear King Valemon, and Little Red Riding Hood. The cards are 4x6. I need a new frame for this.

I bought a 1/72 diecast model Typhoon as a gift for my sister... she loves jets, and we recently went on a short holiday up north to Lossiemouth, where we were based right next to the RAF airbase, and watched Typhoons and Poseidons taking off and landing at all hours of the day. The Typhoons were spectacular, and they regularly took off in groups of 4; with up to 10 taking off in the space of about 20 minutes, some with afterburners, and all extremely loud!

I've always wondered why model planes are so much easier to find as kits you need to build and paint yourself, so it was great to find a supplier of high quality, ready-made diecast models - and it was delivered very quickly too. It's a good size as well - about 7"-8" in length, and came with various bits that can be added, like the landing gear - plus a very smart display stand. Of course I now want one for myself as well...

I took the above photo on my iPad with a black folder in the background, before asking ChatGPT to add a cloudy background and remove the display stand - and it's done a pretty decent job of it... 😅
