AirPods Pro 3. My old ones (original version) finally decided to stop working properly. The right one wouldn't charge anymore and the left one would drop out intermittently. Music is my release when I'm at work. I go absolutely bonkers if I can't listen to music and have something to keep my mind off of everything else in the world. So I got fed up and ordered a new pair straight from Apple.
 
My second 'The Art of...' book from Studio Ghibli...

...had a quick look through this evening and it is breathtaking.

The film itself is on Netflix - on first watch I really enjoyed it but was confused as hell. I then watched the fantastic 2hr documentary 'Miyazaki and The Heron' (also on Netflix) before watching the film again, much the wiser about who the characters in the film are intended to portray.

I don't use the term loosely, but Hayao Miyazaki is a genius, and this film is a masterpiece. A bizarre, funny (in places!), and deeply personal movie, it is staggering to me that Miyazaki was able to make this at all, let alone so brilliantly. The book is well worth a purchase.

I also have an original poster from the movie release winging its way to me from Tokyo as we speak - however the exact same poster is included as a full page print in this book.

I have the UHD of this but we still haven’t watched it. I also agree Miyazaki is a genius.
 
Retiring my current Camper shoes after a year of constant wear (literally wore a hole into through the footbed unfortunately, walking 2 to 5 miles on dry days with them). I’ve had Vivo Barefoot on my radar for years, so i figured it’s time to jump in.

I feel these would be good enough for casual office wear and around town/or a bit of casual trail use.

I'll be really interested to hear what you make of it... I can't recommend highly enough watching it 'cold' and then watching it again after watching 'Miyazaki and the Heron'. I don't know which edition of the Blu-ray to go for; I don't need it to watch per se, but I'd like to have a steelbook copy.
 
Another Kickstarter reward just arrived. I backed The Misadventures of Bombshell and Atomica #1-4 digital downloads a few months ago. I don’t really have the space for physical media anymore. The first three issues were already delivered. The download link for #4 arrived today. It’s set in the US in 1950, about two married women who meet and fall in love working at the same factory during the war. There was an explosion which gave them superpowers, because explosions at factories always give you superpowers. It’s a genuinely moving story about them navigating their marriages, their love for each other, and their new lives as superheroes. I love the art style, too. It has a very strong, highly stylized ‘90s animation feel to it. Be advised it is very NSFW as well. These images are safe, but since they’re from an adult comic, I’m spoiler tagging them anyway.

Yes, I had one in Tokyo in the Mori Tower - they even gave me a little bit of the 'regular' Yamazaki to compare it to as well.

I think I had another one in Osaka - I got chatting to a couple of Japanese guys in a brilliant little whisky bar, one of them was leaving the next day for a job in Iran 🫤 - no wonder the poor guy needed a whisky! I got them an Edinburgh whisky and they got me a Japanese one, but it might have been something else!

I've found the 50mm limiting for family gatherings and indoor spaces, wanted something faster. It's also lighter than the zoom.





Was expecting more slop at f/1.8...nope!



Closer focus is nice too.



This isn't the sharpest photo, but half-second exposures at 400 mph will do that...



Minor annoyance: the lens cap fitment is shaky at best. There's a front 2mm shroud that protrudes a little to protect the foremost lens element, but the 52mm cap doesn't seat well and comes loose a lot. Had the same issue with the RF 16mm which necessitated a replacement cap.

Funnily enough I was looking at this exact lens the other day, as apparently it's a great choice for macro photography.

I've spent enough this month though, so I won't be indulging in that until I've learned to use the camera more.

Look forward to seeing some more of your results with it!
