Actually you would be surprised how good the maplins mount is,i used one for well over a year in the evos and other cars.

Really? I might still grab one for my cybershot then, I just didn't fancy leaving a £280 DSLR at one tiny suction cup's mercy.

Sounds very clever. 👍 Not sure I need something like that for my guitar though seeming I've got the Me-50 and the Korg tuner...somewhere...What kind of stuff do you play on your guitar? Guessing Pink Floyd'y stuff?

Well I don't have an effects board like you do. I only have two stompboxes and a wah-pedal. The great thing about that tuner is that it is so small you can take it anywhere if you're out with your guitar, and you don't need to plug anything in to tune it. You just snap it onto your headstock. You can even have it on your headstock for like....always, just turn it off. This way you can just pick up your guitar, press a button, quick-tune it, turn it off and play.

I didn't buy this but I ordered it about a month ago for FREE and it just arrived today. Now I can look like I am part of a cult! (It is absolutely not comfortable in my opinion and of course, ugly as hell.)

Cool, you bought a robe. Now wear it backwards. :p

I actually didn't buy anything. It was free for doing some dumb poll. It is such a ridiculous product, who seriously sees these and says "I need one!" with a straight face? It isn't even that warm.

Backwards with no underwear would probably be the most appropriate.

I am disappointed that you didn't get one of the "designer" styles.

You should go all out if you are going to do something in bad taste.

That looks very nice. 👍 Let us know how you like it, I might be looking for a replacement fan myself (my 40GB PS3 goes from zero noise to turbine strength rather quickly, though it hasn't died on me yet).

I agree. You could only pick Blue or Pink with this free online offer so I went with pink since it is worse than blue. The worst I have ever seen was some wannabe brand that had some lame Ed Hardy, fake tattoo, Lisa Frank looking piece of ****. So bad!

Good luck with the fixin', Solid. 👍

Thanks.

The 19 blade fan was the fan that was first used with the test model PS3s and the launch day Japanese models. They didn't overheat or make a lot of noise. I don't know why Sony switched to the 15 blade fan with the Chinese made US and EU launch day PS3s.

Apparently, the 15 blades were so lousy and loud, Sony has since switched to a less amp 17 blade fan. These PS3 models are not compatible with the 19 blade replacement, so be careful.

Sorry to hear your PS3 fan speeds are increasing. That's what my PS3 starting doing back in August. Now, it's dead. Overheating and YLOD. Odd though, when it overheated, the fan never increased in fan speed. It just shut off with the fan spinning on the third speed (there are 5 speeds). After turning it back on, after allowing it to cool, the fan never came back on. I hope it's just a busted fan.

When I took it apart, the thermal paste was mostly chalk. Crumbled right off. Some, in the very center, was still a little moist. I just hope my problem was the thermal paste not doing a good enough job, so the PS3 never bothered to turn on the fan and just shut its self down. It took only 90 seconds for the PS3 to shut down after I turned it back on after giving it a few hours to cool down. But, I don't see why the fan wouldn't turn on. Hopefully, the new fan and paste will do the trick. I would love to keep my launch day 60GB PS3.

But, if it doesn't work, and since it's my birthday today, the Mrs. promised to buy me a new PS3. The only problem I have with the slim PS3 is lack of a SD card reader and only two USB ports on the front. I know there's an add on for that, but it wont fit the slim PS3s. Odd.

How hard is it to switch them out? My PS3 fan isn't appreciably noisy (in fact, it is practically silent), but I have to say that you've piqued my interest, depending on how involved the process is.

My 80GB fan goes to the highest speed occasionally, seemingly randomely. It could be doing anything from just sitting there, to downloading, gaming, watching a movie, folding, whatever. I used to have it sitting horizontal, but now I've got it upright figuring the heat would go out the top...but the fan blows out the back. WTF were they thinking with that one? Heat rises, Sony. Besides the noise at certain times it's not that bad. Makes me wonder though.

It's not hard at all. It was very easy to take the PS3 apart. I went really slow, and it only took 40 minutes. The most problem I had was the wrong screwdrivers for the job. Mine were too fat to fit in a few tiny places. I bought a whole new set of screwdrivers for that.

Then, I didn't have a decent precision screwdriver set for the very last screws size #00-#0 Phillips and bought a new screwdriver set for that, as well. (When you get old, you'll use any opportunity to buy new tools).

That's what mine started doing back in August. For the past few months, it stopped doing that, for some reason. I thought it was the much cooler house temperatures. I just hope I don't have a bad heat sensor or fan control sensor, or something. If I do, I'm screwed. I'm not aware if there's a fix for that, or if anybody knows that's even a problem.

I'm reading as much as I can on PS3 YLOD fixes. I have to say, about 15%-20% of the time, they don't work. Worse, if they do work, about 40% of the time it only works for a couple of hours, days or weeks. Then the YLOD returns. That's not good odds, if you ask me.

From what I've read, having the PS3 vertical just might be a bad idea. The air for the fan both intakes and exhausts from all sides of the PS3 that has the vents. Sony did that to prevent it from overheating if one side was being blocked. Makes sense. But, like you said, what doesn't make sense is putting the exhaust below the intakes when the PS3 is standing up vertical. Hot air exits and goes right back in the intakes slots. Very stupid design.

I just don't get it. Ps3 with noise problems? Mine is so quiet I can hardly realize if it is turned on or off. I bought mine 8 months ago. Is it something with the older PS3s? Because I can bet mine will never have that problem. Even though used for 8 months, the way I take care of it... It is just like a brand new!

The 80GB ones seem to be the best well built, which isn't that surprising, with another year or so of R&D.

I like the idea of those snuggle sheets as I like to read in bed and my arms are always cold. Maybe I just need arm length finger-less gloves.

Tiny shutter release remote I'll probably lose.

I once for a laugh attached it to my 450d against a window and it did hold it but it was scared to even touch it

Will cope with a cybershot no problem as i always used that mount on both my H Series cybershots, the only car it didnt seem to like being in was the evo 7 but then again a sportka isn't really a 650bhp race car

'95 Ex Jean-Christophe Boullion Williams nomex shirt, worn by him when he was test driver at the start of the year. Gonna' get it signed at the Autosport 1000kms LMS in September.

Fantastic device. Incredibly cheap and it gets my guitar perfectly in-tune. I love it 👍

I have a similar tuner....

...which works in the exact same manner and love it, very easy to tune with and no leads and no problems with background noise when tuning an acoustic.

I used to have those exact headphones, many years ago when I was young...

...I broke them and have no idea how they sound—so give us a review eh?

Well since they are "Koss" brand you could bet they aren't any good.
