Shameful... If they really don't want to play with people from other countries and ethnicities, then why don't they open a private room?

But I know that most of those are immature kids with no education. The few times I've raced in random rooms, I've only had one situation like this. I won't mention from which European country it was for respect, since my father and his family are from that country and I know they are not like that.

I find it ironic since my PSN account is a US account, and I was insulted because of that. Although I was born there, I havent' been in the US for almost 20 years, so I really didn't take the insult personally. It actually made me feel pity for them and I wonder how can they live in peace with that unfounded hate for others. That's just ignorance.

What's worst is that it is a game in which many people from many parts of the world feel a great passion for and it's ment to be enjoyed.

Welcome to planet Earth friend.
It's an unfortunate world at times with some people having superiority complexes.

Regardless of Nationality or Race, your heart beats as mine, and we all share a passion for good racing.

Race with those you know, and always accept newbies is how we race. Have fun out there!:)

Well.. there could be more factors than that.

If you are from a different country you could cause lag issues, plus it can be frustrating to be in a group with somebody who doesn't speak your language, it makes it impossible to interact.

That being said, I fully agree that the room should be clearly labelled, or at the very least they could be polite about it.

The internet is complex, anonymity tends to make people more cruel than they would normally be, the best way to avoid it is make your own rooms, or better yet make friends here and drive with people you know, so you can all watch yourselves improve.

There are many great alternatives, good thing too because at the end of the day people like this are always going to exist, it's best to just rise above it rather than get frustrated or worse, insulted by their childish antics

I've seen this happen to others and myself a bunch of times. Usually British, german and Spanish people who speak in a derogatory manner towards people with other nationalities and then kick them.

If you are such..you should label your room "euro only" or german only, whatever country you feel is superior.

I hate wasting time joining a room, setting up a car, going to race and getting kicked because my flag isn't euro. It's a shame people like these exist.

Label your rooms, please

I don't care if you're racist or whatever you are, But I do care about my time.

I don't think this is really "racism." This is nationalism. They're kicking you because of whatever country you're from. People have done it to me before because I have an American flag. Who cares? I think it's funny they hate us Americans, yet we're the first country they come to for aid or asylum.

I hate talking politics because it offends a lot of people. I don't really care, but that's all I want to say about it. Screw them. Move on. They're just toughies on the internet.

It's sad and unfortunate because my PSN friends are from many countries and we chat on FB. Some people just don't get it.

Try being British, everyone hates you! I constantly get kicked for that British flag next to my name, our French and Australian cousins kick the brits most (no surprises there)

Racism really sickens me. Living in Detroit, I have many Afro-American friends. Also Spanish friends. They are all very good people and would do anything for me and vice versa. I also like the idea of meeting different nationalities thru this game.

I don't mean to be a prick but it's not "nationalism", lol. Nationalism has to do with someone who is patriotic to their country to different extremes, not judging someone on one's nationality.

The word people here are looking for is "Prejudice", this is someone who judges someone before knowing the facts, so to speak. Like if I judge someone based on their flag or country, that's prejudice. If I judge someone based on colour of their skin, that's racist.

I just wanted to shed some light on this as the word "Racist" gets thrown out there quiet often and used out of context. Racist is a harsh judgement and should be used with care.

On topic though, I'm kind of lucky that I have a Canadian flag next to my name, everyone thinks I'm Caucasian because of it. I don't get any prejudice or racist remarks. Just wait until they find out I'm not white lol ;)

@KB18FAN

I think the word you were looking for was "Hispanic" lol, Just playin with you!

Haha funny how that works. I have a US flag but I'm 0% white and my mother was born in Athens Greece haha

Just shows how stupid racism / nationalism or whatever is. I remember there being a cartoon where there was a bunch of animals running around hating each other because some had a tail and some didn't. One night when they were sleeping someone cut off all of their tails. The next day they didn't know what to do!

I dont know does it have anything to do with the Flag / country but I usually kick X1 drivers out no matter where are they from, mostly I've been asked to kick those "X1's" out.

I've encountered few "racist" who called me as **** first and then kicked me out just because I happened to enter there and won some races without even hitting on anyone.
The thing I hate the most is that whenever someone causes crashes by purpose during the race and when the race is finished, the player accuses others about those crashes and therefore causes them being kicked.

I have never encountered racism on GT5. However I have been in a few rooms that say Aus/NZ only (that's more because it's the only good room available for shuffle racing).

However my rooms have voice chat disabled and the only way I kick people is if they are punting people off the road, their connection is lagging or they are abusive of the text chat. GT5 racing for all I say!

To bring in something positive, I entered a Saudi room the other day because by the title I could tell it was about racing (instead of Saudi Drift). Now I'm a spaniard with salvadoran heritage but born and raised in Germany, my account is german so is the flag of course. I had no problems in the room, we raced etc... others entered, mostly from arab countrys. Then one Israeli popped in, I thought OMG this is going to end up in tragedy... to my big surprise it didn't! No one seemed to care.
After couple of races there had been 11 people in the room, 3 Isreali's, me and the rest were Saudi's Lebanese etc.
All good drivers, clean and fair!
Great experience!

Same happens to me I'm British but the French always kick me I can't say much about the Australians because I drift with d1nz a lot and there great guys I also drift with a lot of Americans there also great guys

Actually it can (and should) be called nationalism (a word with different meanings), as like you mentioned it can take extreme (xenophobic) forms, which can't be labelled patriotism as it's understood in the US for example.
National Socialism being perhaps the most extreme example, it's a much more appropriate name to give to this type of xenophobia which seems to occur a lot in GT5 than racism which has nothing to do with nationality.

Call it what you want. Racism, nationalism, fascim... they are different things, but those 'infected' with these 'deseases' are all the same... a bunch of a**holes!

:)

I'm  we seem to be talking about nationality discrimination, that's not the same as racism is it?
when your african american and someone calls you the N word emphatically, thats racist intent, so yes maybe there is some confusion.

I guess what I don't like is that the second some people get online they think they've instantly become "down" enough to use the N-word in common conversation, you know like its cool, and if we were face to face they would do the same...E-thuggin must be great, be as "gangsta" as you want without having to back that ish up in real life.

I see people E-thuggin' quite frequently actually, I reckon they don't really have any consideration for anybody around them.

It's funny because I love racing people from other parts of the World, UK, Germany, and Spain are countries that produce some great drivers and I love the challenge.. Not always do we speak the same language but that seems to make it more fun and intense in a close race. Australians how ever are my favourite group to run into, I have YET to meet a mean/rude/self-centered etc Aussie. I often open my online filter to world-wide rather than what ever the setting is to only find rooms from your country (In my case Canada-America-Mexico) and unfortunately it is often hard to find a good room that isn't Drift, Drag, NASCAR, or non-racing softs. Rest assured there are great rooms to be found on the other side of the world! 👍

By the way, if you want racism.. Go play Call of Duty and prepare to be blown away by racist 12 year old tough guys..

Get over it people. For those who do not already know this, the internet is where the world goes to behave badly and not be accountable for anything. It's where people say and do things we would not say or do to anyone in person. Yes the internet is good for much, much more than this, but it's one stupid way it is used, constantly. Anyone who is getting hurt feelings or otherwise upset by bad behavior online needs to wake up and grow some thicker skin. By the way, yes I am a racist -- I don't like the R35 GTR Black Edition. :sly:

Thats why I do the exact opossite, yeah I use the N-Word in real life nobody ever felt offended because I don't say it in a disrespectfull way, every black friend I got confirms that. Yet on any online activity I wouldn't say that to somebody I do not know, he/she could take it offensive and out of respect for that, I don't say it.

Rooms for 1 country only I dont have a problem with, as most do it to try and avoid lag. But racism is a big no no, can people who suffer this grief report the offenders ?? They shouild do if its in typed form at least.

Good idea, yet how to prove it was a racist intention?

This is why I wish the PS3 had a party chat like the 360. That way you can get up to 8 friends all talking in a party chat and dont have to worry about racism or rude people.

Good call, it's probably better you get kicked. You don't want to waste your energy on people who are ignorant and small minded and nationalistic or racist.

Do what you think is right. Start your own rooms with all welcome.

Although there is one equally despised race of beings and those are dirty drivers. Segregate them into their own rooms ;)

Word.

Seriously this is some of the most truthful stuff you'll find on the internet.
