here's a question me and my freind was arguing about a 240sx with a 240sx bodied s13 clip, with sr20 and all. the question is since its only the clip and not the body is it still a sil80? i say yes

your friend is a nerd and no..
He has a 240SX...

A 240SX will never be anything but a 240sx...

It's not a Silvia, will people STOP calling their 240SX's silvias....

Doesn't it depend where your from, arn't Silvia's in some coutnries re-badged as 240SX's or am I thinking of a different Nissan that changes to a name like that in some places?

Well, if you want to get technical, it's a 240sx with a "cosmetic" upgrade... errh... including the engine. It ain't a sil80 if it doesn't come that way from the factory, but you can rebadge it if it looks the same... whatever rocks your boat.

That's like saying "Oh, my friend has a Supra bodykit on an SC300 because they have the same engine does that make it a Supra?"

No. Never. Shutup.

S14 Silvias were rebadged as 200SX'es in the UK. Even though we got an actual S12 silvia and then the 180SX (The S13 one) was also rebadged as a 200SX.

Fortunately we got the same engine range as the JDM (yo) versions.

America has a car that not only drives on the other side...but has a Nissan pickup motor, and a horrible transmission (GREAT tranny construction but horrible gearing for a sports car)....

yeah..Like it or not..It's not a Silvia...and will never be a silvia.....

It's a nice car though....
Just not a silvia, so tell him to cancel that 60 dollar badge order he put in at jdmcarpartwhores.com

240SX was the American version of the Nissan Silvia. I don't know exactly when Nissan started doing it, but Silvias were also sold as 180SX and 200SX in the 80's in the States.

I didn't know anything about Sileighty, so I researched a bit, and it was very very interesting! Turns out Sileighty was a limited model, put together by a Nissan Dealer, not Nissan. I've also discovered a model called Onevia/Eighsil, which was basically a Japanese version of the 240SX coupe(w/trunk). Hilarious!

ditto, and coupe and fastbacks are both s13s :ouch:

its something called authenticity. a dc2 gsr with a b18c5 is still not an itr. why should it be any different for a nissan?

Im pretty sure the Onevia was never sold by a Nissan dealer as the Sileighty was though.

Also the US 240sx's that look like Onevia's used the 180sx front that came out of the older CA18 versions, SR20 180sx fronts are more common in Japan.

I'm sure it wasn't. With it's name inconsistency(Onevia/Eighsil), I think it's more like a nickname than a official car name. As far as the Sileighty go, I guess the only "true" Sileightys are the ones that's actually put together and sold by this Japanese Nissan Dealer(I think it's called "Kid's Heart").

So am I a JDM ryce whore?
I wouldn't pay any attention to some of the posts here. Couple of posts were extremely judgemental and not really intelligent. 👎 Like niky said, whatever float your boat! :D

No, there was no 180sx in the states..

And the 200SX was the Nissan Sentra's counterpart(in the states)...

The 180SX....was the 240SX once it hit the states...Because it had a 2.4L engine..

Always did, always will..
180SX = 1.8L
240SX = 2.4L

Wasnt the S12 Silvia/Gazelle (introduced 1983) called 200sx in the US? Thats what Ive read. Also the same with the S11/S110.

The S12 was a Gazelle in Australia

The Gazelle and North-American 200SX did not have the bulge in the bonnet shown in this photo, as it was restricted to the four cylinder turbo versions.
The S110 had an FJ20E when sold in Japan as a Silvia and a 100HP Z20E (twin plug) when sold in North America as a 200SX, swapping to the 102HP Z22E in 1980

My bad. They sold it in the U.S. with 2 Liter engine instead.

Yeah, anyways, like I said, in the 80's:D, they sold Silvia like this in the States.

These two and the mid-late 90's(7th gen?) are the only Silvias sold in the States, that I know. It might go back even more. Someone like Emohawk or M5Power might know......

I was called and I came. To my knowledge, the Nissan/Datsun SX line was sold in the US in the following generations:

?-1983 (200SX)
1984-1988 (200SX)
1989-1994 (240SX)
1995-1998 (200SX and 240SX)

I don't do pre-1982, so Google might do a better job there than I can.

That would be the S110 chassis from '79 - '84. Then we got he S12, S13, and S14 chassis. And also, the S14 from '95 - '98 was only called the 240SX. The 200SX sold at that time was the B14 Sentra Coupe. They had Sentra for the sedan, and 200SX for the Coupe.

I used to own a '98 240, so I was very into that scene a few years ago. But, sadly I don't own the car anymore.

you wouldn't have a "sil80" because your car is not a 180sx to begin with. That alone, as bonehead as it is, is enough to prove your theory wrong, altezza.

the 240sx still shares the same chassis as its counterpart, though. But it will not be registered as such. the clearest, and most obviously difference is whether the car is right or left hand drive. that is the distinguishing factor as far as the american 240 vs. japanese S1x debate is concerned.

If that was true, G35 is not a Skyline. Or how about Civics, 350Zs, Land Cruisers and million(figure of speech) other cars, that has the left and right drive versions? As far as I'm concerned, that makes it a different version of the car, not a totally different car.

As far as I'm concerned a real Sileighty has to be the body of a 180 sx and the front of a S13 silvia. Anything else and you can't call it a Sileighty because where else would you get the 80 from?

You could ask a buddy for the money, I'm sure he'll cough it up...

Boy, someone asks a dumb question and all the Nissan boys just come straight out of the woodwork. :D

I remember that 200sx now...
You're right..
The ugly ass car I remember...

I thought it was in reference to the K's and S's.....

And as far as i'm concerned the only real Sil80's are the one's that came from nissan....

Again, it didnt' come from Nissan. It was a dealership in Japan that fabricated Sileighty. However, I do agree that only "authentic" Sileightys are the originals that came from this dealership. One site I looked at said that only 500 of the first Sileightys were produced.

to put it in a nutshell: unless it's the Japanese original, it's not a SilEighty OR a OneVia (Sp)

and I believe the equiv of S13 silviys in the US in sedan form are Nissan Stanzas...i believe even the Sunny has an American rebadge clone

i was suprised that the performance guys spotted the G35 as the new Skyline. I didn't believe it till I FINALLY got hold of a copy of GT4...

Um, is there was a 240SX with a Silvia front bumper/ whatever, would that make that one a "Sil40"?

See thats strange, because in the UK the Gazelle was badged as a Silvia. Damn Nissan and their inconsistent naming of the same car. Then after that everything else was badged 200SX.

Yeah silly name games, the S12 had the Gazelle name here, we missed factory imported S13's, then S14 & S15's were sold as 200sx's. (the good SR20DET models luckly, like you guys)

That sounds the same sort of thing we got here. Didn't you get 180sx's badged as 200SX? There is a crap load of those around, although most of them have the 1.8 turbo engine that wasn't known for it's reliability.

Well from what i've read about it anyway, and allot of the ones i've seen on Autotrader seem to have had new engines installed.

On those inconsistencies on vehicle names, I would guess that it was the local Nissan that named the vehicles. Nissan(original), Nissan of Australia, Nissan of America, etc.

Sniffs

If I remember correctly, last Stanza in the U.S. was a Bluebird. Sunny was a Sentra here, but I don't know about now.

I think, you're right. I guess it'll be the American version of the Sileighty wanna be.
