I'm lost reading this thread, that cars called that over there, this cars called this but in that country it's what we call that and they call this. It gives me a headache .

if I put silvia side mirrors on a 240sx with 180 front end and a 200sx trunk

does it become a onevia4000sx?

Do you not know how to add? I'm pretty sure it becomes a Sil20.

Silvia + 180SX = Sil80

Silvia + 620SX (compounded vehicle name :sly: ) = Sil20.

your friend is a nerd and no..
He has a 240SX...

A 240SX will never be anything but a 240sx...

It's not a Silvia, will people STOP calling their 240SX's silvias....

 In that case I have an 86 Hachi Rocku! Yeah! Raise da Air!
woohoo8bj.gif

PS...how would you have a sil anything?

The front is a ONE..
like the onevia (180SX front Silvia rear)...

Which means' it's a One something.

Wait, if I put a 5.0 litre V8, into a 240SX, does it become a 5000SX?

Naaah. I wouldn't say so. It's called 240SX for a reason, it wouldn't be a 4000SX unless it had a 400L engine. . .which would never happen.

Unless it was a Dodge or Chev.

Well why is it called Sil80?

does it have a .8 liter engine?

No it's got a 2.0L engine..
Sil80 has nothing to do with it's actual size....Sil80 is 100% bodystyle..as is my imaginary one..

Sil80 = silvia front clip, 180sx rear..

A trendy that was started mainly because people were wrecking their 180Sx's....And since silvia's had better powerplants and people were also wrecking their sivlia's it's only the natural evolution especially since it all fit together so nicely(bodylines asside)

There was a interesting article I read on Japanese website, while I was researching Sileighty. It explained that Japanese 180SX racers who had wrecked their cars had hard time locating 180SX frontend, which was in short supply over there. Somebody replaced the damaged frontend of his 180SX with the frontend of Silvia, which was much easier to obtain and was cheaper. Supposedly that's how this thing started.....

oi, this is confusing. ok.....no, it was never a 180SX to begin with and it was never a silvia either. honestly, i think its stupid to rebadge stuff, i mean people make fun of hondas for putting on stupid type R badges, but if you think about it....its just as stupid to put a silvia badge on a usdm 240sx (or 180sx for that matter either).

i actually almost got a (usdm) 200SX, it was the 4cyl. turbocharged model, i wish i had got it <8- \ but the engine needed to be rebuilt and it had leaking injectors so those had to be replaced a.s.a.p.
here is a site with much more information, i was only on it for like a week but the guys on there helped a ton. http://www.club-s12.org/

If that was true, G35 is not a Skyline. Or how about Civics, 350Zs, Land Cruisers and million(figure of speech) other cars, that has the left and right drive versions? As far as I'm concerned, that makes it a different version of the car, not a totally different car.

I quote:

"that is the distinguishing factor as far as the american 240 vs. japanese S1x debate is concerned."

So it applies only to 240SX/Silvia, but not to the other cars? Driver's seat being on different side matters in this case, but not on other cars....... that doesn't make any sense to me.

omnis....

So a G35 and a V35 are the same cars?

A Infinity M## is the same as a Fuga?

This guy makes little sense sometimes.

Or is he saying they ARE different cars, EXCEPT for the 240SX and silvia...

Because they have less in common than the other counterparts mentioned..

I mean the V35 and G35 share the same engine cast and family..

The 240SX and Silvia arn't even in the same neighborhood..let alone family..

Since you want to join in this conversation(and you're welcomed to), let me clarify for you. Here's the simplified version:

Omnis: 240SX and Silvia are different cars. Drivers' seats being on the different side is the clincher.

a6m5: That doesn't matter. Civic, 350Z, they all do it.

Omnis: I said only on 240SX/Silvia!

a6m5: Why doesn't it apply on other cars, and only on 240SX/Silvia?

IMO, you guys are nitpicking. Cars offer choices of engines and trannys, all the time. According to your logic, Civic and Civic Si are different cars, Japanese Supra and American Supra are different cars. I do see the difference, but not enough to say they are entirely different models. I do realize they are different versions.

And yes, I still say Skyline and G35 are same cars, M-whatever and Fuga also. Now if I said G35 and 350Z are same car...... ;)

Am I missing something??? The only thing differing from a 240SX and Silvia is engine. Other than that, and minor little trim things, they are the same car. Maybe thats what constitutes a "different neighborhood" in changes. Is that what you mean, or am I not understanding something????

hes talking out of his ass as usual.

btw he says he used to race his '94 m3.
hahaha
If I had one of those, I sure as hell wouldn't race it. Those were sent over to the US in very limited numbers, and are bound to be collectors some day. I think the actual number was something like......oh, what was it???? Oh yea, NONE!!! HA HA HA

That sounds the same sort of thing we got here. Didn't you get 180sx's badged as 200SX? There is a crap load of those around, although most of them have the 1.8 turbo engine that wasn't known for it's reliability.

Well from what i've read about it anyway, and allot of the ones i've seen on Autotrader seem to have had new engines installed.

Nah, we never got any S13 type Nissans including RS13/RPS13 (180sx) here, But we have plenty now anyway :sly: (mainly in SR20 form).

That would be because Japan doesn't offer Infiniti, and the Skyline is their answer to the luxury sedan market (or North America's G35) over in Asia.

Now about the 350Z and the G35...

Isn't the Z's engine the VQ? And the old Skyline's engine the RB? If the new Skyline's (JDM) engine is a RB, then I'd call it legit. If the USDM "Skyline" (G35) has a VQ, I'd call it a luxury interpretation of the 350Z. Same with the JDM version of the G35 (ie the Skyline being a luxury model of 350Z), if it had the VQ engine. I'll clarify if I need to, that sounded a bit confusing.

That was a joke, PS. :D You could say the Skyline/G35 is the "luxury" version of 350Z, but I think 350Z was the one that was based on the design and parts of the Skyline/G35.

Current Nissan Skyline, 350Z, Fuga, Stagea (M35) etc all share the same Nissan 'FM' platform. The V35 Skyline was the first to use the FM platform, it was designed in the first place for many different models, so no model is directly based from one another paticular model (eg 350Z isnt directly based off the Skyline its based off the FM platform), also Skyline isnt Nissans luxury sedan its more like a premium sports car. Nissan have President, Cima, Fuga for luxury sedans.

Also almost all of theses models use the same VQ V6 engine.

I didn't know, thanks for that VIPERGTS. :) I thought M35 was Fuga though....

President and Cima are two names I haven't heard in a while. :D Nissan don't sell them in Australia, do they? How about Crown and Century?

M35 is the code name for the new Stegea, like R34 etc.

They dont sell President, Cima, Fuga, Skyline, Crown, Century here unfortunatly. They dont even sell Infiniti versions of the Nissans here :(

I have seen a NEW Crown on the road here though and other personal imports like the Cima but no Factory sold stuff.

Ah, alright. I think Fuga is sold in the States as M35/M45, if I remember correctly. How confusing! :D Stagea, I think is that cool looking wagon? Too bad you don't get the President and Century, but they probably couldn't compete with their European counterparts anyway.

a6: at least now I know the Bluebird was 510 in the US
ND4SPD: more like 500SX :P
besides, you coudn't stick a small block under that hood without a lot of chop-cut :P
