I was online NASCAR 2003 when a couple of guys noticed I had GT 1 as my name

They said GT was crap, wasnt a real sim, had only six cars, no damage, no challenge, and that it was a waste of money.

They also said those who drive GT cant handle real sim. They said we all use controllers and couldnt drive with a wheel if our life depended on it.

They said GT was a waste of money.

I talked to him more and turned out he ran a Escudo at superspeedway 150 enduro, won an indy car and used it to win the other races and then claimed they were too easy. yeah if you race a bmw z3 with a F1 I'm sure you will win...

Well honestly I like racing games that have alot of cars on track and damage.

I like GT because yes, the handling isnt the greatest simulaiton on Earth, BUT, the cars handle real enough to make it a challenge, yet you dont have to be on edge every lap to push it to the limit. The handling is just real enough to make it fun.

But I excuse GT because it MORE then makes up for those short commings with AWESOME sound and graphics, huge selection of cars and tracks, along with a passiontly customizable Simulation mode.

GT is for car guys, and real race fans who love cars so much they dont need damage etc, they just love to push a car to the limit and hear the squealling tyres and the wind and the motor and the crowds.

What do you have to say about the insults to GT?

Oh yeah, NASCAR is fun. Lets drive around in a circle for 2 hours and hope some guy crashes 'cause he fell asleep. Real challenge

If it had been me. I would have just ignored them. GT1-3 isn't to everyone's liking, just like I don't see the point in NASCAR racing. Going around in circles seems far too boring to me, but that's only my option.

As for his/her comments about "we all use controllers and couldnt drive with a wheel if our life depended on it". Sweeping generlisations like this are just not true.

I think this persons n00b rating is very high. Just ignore them in the future.

Cheers

Jamie

Earth, they are rednecks who are not exposed too much stuff. Leave them alone and let them go play that "turning left sport."

Close the thread. 👎

They have a certain point with what they are saying - Sierra's NASCAR games are suberb, they produced about 6 versions of the game altogether, so by the 6th they pretty well nailed it. Yes it is great to race aginst a full field of cars (especially if playing online) instead of five, and yes the graphics are fantastic (but then PC's can handle better graphics and resolution then a PS2) and yes it is a better 'sim' then GT. BUT then look what GT has to offer - 500+ very different cars (compared to Nascars 3), stacks of great tracks of varying style (compared to short ovals, long ovals and a couple of proper circuits) and enough variation to keep you playing for years.

You can't really say whether one game is better than another - they are both so different

I know what i'll be still playing come 2006 - and it doesn't involve only turning left

I have Nascar thunder 03 and 04 and I have to say it doesn't compare to the Gran Turismo series. They're just jelous.

Yer but EA's Nascar Thunder isn't a patch on Papyrus's Nascar games.

But i do agree that those guys would'nt know what to do with a right-hand turn, i bet their muscles couldn't cope with the change - the only time i played Nascar online was on sears point - they may play online all the time on ovals - but when it comes to a real circuit they were rubbish!!!!

They're probably just 12yr old kids who've never played a single GT game. Here's the statements and my responses:

They said GT was crap, wasnt a real sim, had only six cars, no damage, no challenge, and that it was a waste of money.
That's all the evendence you need to prove that the've never been within 8000 miles of a copy of GT. The only true statement was 'no damage', but then again, GT is about simulating circuit racing/grand touring, not banger racing in clapped out Ford Sierras.

They also said those who drive GT cant handle real sim. They said we all use controllers and couldnt drive with a wheel if our life depended on it.
That statement is full of irony. 99.9 of these idiots on this NASCAR game have probably never held a steering wheel in their lives, not even those designed as gaming accesories! They're obviously ignorant of the fact that GT3 and GT4 Prologue actually support steering wheels, and have had wheels specially designed for these games! By the way, I play GT, yet I have no problem driving a real car (i.e: Toyota Yaris/Echo).

They said GT was a waste of money.
How would they know if they haven't played it. They're just a load of ignorant clots.

This person is obviously a pathetic little sod. I think it's rather obvious that an F1 car will have no trouble beating a bloody kei car!

These kids are nothing but jealous NASCAR fanboys who would shiver at the sight of an S-bend.

What I have to say about the insults?

Well, after playing all the GT series I indeed missed the damage (but who damages his car cannot drive properly!).
But I learned to make turns, where they only learn to handle a car with a setup for left turns only, that have 4 shifts only and handle like crap! We learned from GT to drive a car, how it handles when you push it to it limits, how to set-up a car.

They, well, you guess, they only are experiended in getting on their lawn mower tractors and mowing their lawn in left circles

Hi Newbie to the forum here but old hat at GT.

hmmm Well I have GT1 , GT 2 GT3 and GT4 P now where did Nascar go.... lets just say it didnt get a chance to gather dust!!!!

I look forward to GT 4 , I look forward to GT4 online area as well.
Probaly show how crap I reall am :dopey:

Cheers

Yea I raced pretty much every race with the escudo, or GT1 Race car I might have raced 5 races at max with Indy Cars I like them but I like keeping them with no miles on them I haven't raced the F1 series yet nor the polyphony series yet tho and the f1 series i know i'll need an indy car

They also said those who drive GT cant handle real sim.
Well in fact a normal car driver can't handle none of his real sims...

For me the real sim is the one that is closest to the real thing in feedback and control, not the one that needs a new extensive learning for playing...

-A good sim:
GT4 + DFP 900º= Real feedback for everyone (real drivers with no games experience included)
-Perfect sim:
1 hour of simulated game = 1 hour of the real thing (someday...)

GT4 feels like a sim even though when compared to the more hardcore sims on the PC it falls short a little. IMO GT has the perfect balance of sim and fun in the way the cars handle, the times the cars can do a track are realistic and the handing is realistic but the power delivery isn't and it never has been. As Code said, he plays to hve fun, so do I. GT is fun, (well it is in an underpowered car) but for me Nascar isn't fun.

At least GT has real racing, not a demolition derby at 200mph (which i believe is NASCAR's appeal)... let's see people crash and die going really fast... oooooh entertaining :sly:

i don't get it's appeal... but then again i have no desire to mate with blood relatives... ahhh arkansas where inbread dreams come true.

I think Nascars have raced on some proper non-oval circuits like Sears point in the past. I also beleive their lap times were vaery slow for cars of that power.

Even their suspension is set up so it is constantly turning left.
Just imagine...
200 mph , trying to keep the car straight, approaches the bend and OMG, he releases the steering wheel and executes the bend perfectley!! how hard was that..Not very.
