I defiantly see there point, nascar is pretty boring but the physics are awesome.
I love how the car can flip onto its roof and if you hit a wall at 120mph, you car isn't going anywhere.....you're done.
Nascar is more realistic but its nascar....the tracks suck.
I'd love to see some of nascars realism in GT4 though.
I hate racing someone that hits every wall around every turn and wins, in nascar that **** wouldn't work.
I'd also like to see nascars car damage in GT4.

Crash damage alone does not mean a game is realistic.

Earth must be from Mars.

You say the handling is just realistic enough to be fun.
Maybe you meant that the cars are not TOO difficult to control but just barely?

Yeah, I mght be new here, but I have yet to see a NASCAR game that doesn't feel like your driving on ice in a car made of paper.
The idea behind Gran Turismo has always been a realistic comparison of machines, courses, physics, and, of course, you the driver.
Each game in the series takes an evolutionary step in these 4 dimesions.

Don't get me wrong, I love NASCAR...I'm watching trackside right now. (Go Mikey!)
But all the NASCAR games are ARCADE GAMES. It is nearly impossible to play any race in EA's game at the actual real-life distance and even finish.

The physics in NASCAR are simple compared to what happens in GT.

Nice to see some people with sanity.

And like others here I don't get anything from Oval racing at all. I can see why people do.

In plenty of threads I've seen people panic at the idea of having NASCAR in GT. But I still feel GT4 could do with one or two NASCAR and Indy cars. To make the series whole.

Did yall take time to think that all racing requires different skills, in nascar you need to drift to get ur pass, in F1 the person that gets all there stuff perfect and never faulty gets ther win, in all kinds of racing there is different skill, but i have to say that if any of you anti-americans out there say anything bad about america and our racing heritage, just so ya know Team Corvette is in first place in GT Series =)

oh yea and u anti-americans, i can drive my 1969 Dodge Charger, backwards and it will go faster than most of ur cars, lol, just playin, i gotta 69 Charger with a 400 6 bbl, 8mpg CLASSIC, yall wanna donate me some money ;) haha, jk

They arn't anti-American because they don't like NASCAR, I don't like NASCAR but I like the ALMS, both are American race series. I know NASCAR takes a different type of skill to win but I don't find it interesting to watch, I don't find F1 that interesting anymore, too many rules and too much Ferrari dominance.

a 16 year old owning a car like that and being allowed to legally drive it, damn you ;) 👍

There's an edit button for your posts if you forget something Toxic, just a head's up.

ALMS may be American but the concept isn't, and now seems matched by the LMES.

Oh yeah, NASCAR is fun. Lets drive around in a circle for 2 hours and hope some guy crashes 'cause he fell asleep. Real challenge

Yee!!! mother****ing HAWWW!!! lol...
You know, most of the Nascar drivers are top notch drivers.. i think they must get bored once in a while driving in circles, despite the high tension when in such a close pack of cars... but the money must keep em in.

We just have to ignore ignorant comments sometimes i guess... I dont really dislike any type of racing, i even like drag racing sometimes in realistic games like LFS, and i think i mightive done it in gt2... I just wish people would respect eachother and be a little more openminded. I dont hate on people for mostly liking to turn left, and they shouldnt hate a game just because its for the console and is much more popular worldwide.

Just beacause somebody says they don't like a sport's video game, doesn't mean they don't like the sport. I enjoyed the NASCAR Racing games from Papyrus way back on the PC, but since EA took over this world, the NASCAR games SUCK!!!
Virtually uncontrollable in every aspect.
Same thing with their F1 games. LOUSY controls!
Sure, the graphics are nice, until you've seen that same wall real close-up on every lap. Seriously, I can't believe that there are people posting here who want to compare the physics of the NASCAR games to Gran Turismo. A better comparison would be GT and Pro Race Driver/TOCA (which was pretty damn good!)
or even NFS.
On the other hand, SSX3 is probably the best game I've purchased in years.
And Ratchet&Clank:Going Commando (not EA)--I wish every PS2 game could be of the quality of that game.
With GT4 and it's elevated ultra-realism, Sony should have a nice token in its pocket come Fall.

And Toxic...a Charger with a 400? 6bbl? that's...um, pretty weird...

, so I'm waiting on a decent V8 Supercar game.

Give TOCA Race Driver 2 a go (believe its called Pro Race Driver 2 in the US), only out on PC and X-box at present, but is due out for PS2 later this year (thats the UK release - not sure about the US).

I have the PC version and with the sim handling is worth a look, has the Aussie V8 supercars, DTM and a whole lot more.

Sorry for the quick off topic.

On the subject of NASCAR/Oval racing, anyone in the UK should grab a copy of this weeks Autocar, one of the writers has his first experience of ASCAR (NASCAR for the UK) and while I find Oval racing quite dull to watch, the level of skill involved in racing this close, at speeds of 170-180mph with walls that hard it quite amazing.

One thing that a lot of people have forgotten here is that a car designed to always turn left, as NASCAR/ASCAR race cars are, will still want to do the same on the straight, at 180mph. To keep the car straight and still race competativly lap after lap requires a very different set of skills to circuit racing, but it requires skill none the less.

I think I kinda(kinda?) got a bit pissed to hear the NASCAR gamers bashing GT.... And bashed NASCAR somewhere but....... I do watch NASCAR (Hell, without cable theres only NASCAR) time to time and enjoy it........ It seems that pit stragety and drafting are the only stuff going on (Besides the mechanical failures, and crashes)... Team work is what makes NASCAR interesting to watch..... And I've never played any NASCAR games (Oval makes me fall asleep.... Happened on Test course).... Oval, is plain easy than driving in Laguna Seca no matter how hard it can get(Shamefully I still can't get any good lines there)......

BTW....... I got SSX3 too..... And its a great game.... I wish they had more race courses though..

i dunno about being easier. More refined which means instead of having lots of things to focus on, You have a few things to focus on in Nascar and mistakes are costly, not to say that they arent in twisties. I'm sure its easier to kinda fall half asleep while driving, but that comes w/ any really long races.
