Ha ha, No!
I've just started playing GT5 online, shuffle races are great but.....

It seems some of the other cars have lost the plot, dancing and shaking, is it my connection or are they really really bad drivers?

If everyone else is laggy, but you seem fine, it's your connection :)

Unavoidable, change lobby, or stop racing randoms, I'm rarely in public lobbies now unless I'm hosting.

Clear cache (got to the options menu, scroll to the bottom and hit the network button) and it should improve your online somewhat but it's better to race either people you know or people largely from the same country as it seems distance can cause latency.

Another 2 things to try would be -

1. If you are using a wireless internet connection , try using a wired ethernet connection instead.
2. If you are using an ethernet wired connection then try the wireless connection instead.
