Just saw on their forums today that new accounts (Past December 20th 2012) get the EvoX, BMW M1, & the Formula 3 car for free instead of just the EvoX.

I kept wondering why in the quick races there seemed to be a lot of M1 & F3 races being offered.

Sucks, and SRW said they wouldn't retro-fit older accounts. I installed back in october or so last year and only played for a few times then.

The F3 is $1.50 or 1500cr & M1 is $0.47 or 470cr. With the Asphalt Modified 100 lap at Ky speedway, that only takes about 55 minutes or so I think. So that's a nice 500 credits in an hour. Granted you can find a race and not get spun out into engine damage/lost tire over 100 laps.

I attempted one of the Asphalt races the other night. Was pulling away from the field until lap 7 when I brushed the wall coming out of turn 2 and crashed hard trying to correct the spin.

The Asphalt Modified is just hilarious. I never win any races in it but getting it settled in to a nice long drift is so satisfying, mainly because all it requires is a little more gas than is safe and some countersteer.

I enjoy watching people spin out at start in the asphalt. Makes my day. Race countdown starts and people revving their engine, green light, they 180.

Gave the XJ220 a drive. It's very understeery.

Also, finally got around to using my wheel. The kart is much better with the wheel compared to the DS3.

Used the Jag for about 5 hours last night, after the initial urge of it wanting to kill me, worked out pretty well.

Maybe about two hundred credits with it.

Testdrive tuesday car for tomorrow March 19th is the Maserati A6GCS/53 Pininfarina Berlinetta.

Free to drive for the day!

I just tried it. I don't know if it's my settings, but it has a tendency to wander at higher speeds. Hard to keep it going in a straight line.

I did a couple of laps with it at Watkins Glen, thought it was pretty awesome. Wobbly at high speeds sure but still very controlable for me, the car felt like it was going faster than it was i thought. I really liked it but hard to justify that price tag even with 50% off.

Seems they've added Giza and the SRW Buggy:

$0.18, free to drive today of course.

Edit:

Edit again: I've only just noticed the Simraceway Download Manager, am I being extremely slow or is it new? It's very nice though, but I wish I'd found it last night so I could've downloaded every single car in the game last night rather than now, I'm itching to get racing! This will solve the biggest problem I have with SRW, though, which is the problem I'm having right now (having to download updates when all I want to do is drive something).

The download manager has been in for a couple of weeks now, the last patch.

Is there anything in this game to appeal to single player yet, beyond time trial/hotlapping?

You can race the AI if you want, otherwise for singleplayer it's just hotlap/time trial events. I don't know why you would race the AI when you can race real people though, I've had some great racing in the quick races there and it isn't only aliens and idiots, there are plenty of "inbetween" drivers.

I do enjoy the races against the AI. nice to be able to do 30 laps at lime rock with double fuel/tire usage.

Haven't played with the max AI settings, but getting close.

Sometimes I like to mix it up. Late at night in my time zone (GMT -5) there's not a lot of people on, and usually they are either grinding out credits on the Evo @ an oval or doing something I don't have a car. So espicially for a hotlap/challenge event I like to go to the AI mode and race for a while to get a better hang of it.

Yep, really like that Caterham! It handles pretty much exactly how I've been led to believe it should (through sims and a friend who used to race them, albeit only 1.6 Sigma engined ones, not R300s!), you have a lot of control over the back end using the throttle which makes it great fun to drive.
