I quite like how the cars in this game are so cheap when they come out. iRacing is far more expensive. But I guess you pay for what you get!

New content has been released today, 3 tracks and 1 new car.

The 2010 Ariel Atom 500 V8

They seem to have pulled the Atom which is a shame, but... BUT! There's a Dodge Charger R/T event right now where you can turn laps in around 25 seconds. My best lap so far was a 23.7 but I can't seem to get close to it any more, I must just be getting tired. I had 650 credits when I started today, bought the R/T and now I have 680. That kart event has nothing on this!

Oh and today's test drive Tuesday features the 2000GT, it's $1.64 today. I think I might pick it up at that price.

Bigbazz
I asked and apparently the Atom has been taken down while they fix a bug with it.

I asked also just after I posted here, I should've said. I seriously recommend you get yourself an R/T and go racing (unless you have the Indy car), but don't try to do the whole thing in second gear because you start to overheat after about 15 laps. It's good for a couple of hot laps, though, but I find it's much slower if you use third as well. Tomorrow after work I'm going to see if I can hit 1,000 credits, I went from 650 to 325 and back up to 680 in what felt like no time at all.

Have you tried the 2000GT? I like it, it's challenging because as with the karts you really have to keep your revs up but if you go even slightly too hot into a corner you'll spin almost instantly. I managed to hold a couple of really knife-edge slides in it but I don't think I managed to do a lap without spinning, then again I only attempted 3 because I wanted to get on with grinding with the R/T again.

I haven't really been doing a lot of sim racing in general lately, aside from other things taking my attention, my brake pedal on my G27 is giving me issues that are enough to have knocked my enthusiasm.

I'l eventually get it sorted. I had some issues where I got disqualified from a prize on Simraceway that also annoyed me for a short while. All I know is the 10th fastest time got the 3rd place prize, which is what I was disqualified for.

I didnt know that

1. The game doesnt decide if your lap is legal, you have to do that yourself.

2. Unlike in GT5 the curb is not part of the track, you cant at any point have your whole car on the curb at the exit/entry of a corner, this is what got me DQ'd and I didnt even realise it.

3. I had done a lot of laps, and I mean a LOT of laps that were fast enough for a genuine 3rd place but they only count and review your fastest lap, if you get DQ then thats it.

4. So you have to review your own laps (currently, it may change in future with game updates) and if you think they are bad you need to get them deleted, or delete them on the website. Then it will fall to the 2nd fastest lap of that session, or you can do new laps, it doesnt count any previous sessions.

Safe to say I didnt know any of this, they have said they plan to make changes so people know all this, but it cost me a 3rd place prize, the actual final results were not published and it still shows me in 3rd (something else they may change in future).

I can put a bet to you that a LOT of drivers are getting disqualified in a LOT of hotlapping events, just the one example where the 10th fastest time had the 3rd place prize, Simraceway are extremely strict with this kind of thing, stuff you could easily get away with in other sims and competitions. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but they need to let people know this.

Wow, that's a bizarre system. I've just been accused of track cutting on Chicagoland Indy, even though there's no prizes, because I occasionally had my two left hand side wheels over the inside white line... I thought that was ok as long as it's not all four wheels. In any case, it's extremely difficult to do a lap much faster than 0'24.5 with all four wheels on the correct side of the line, yet the top time is 0'24.392 and you have to go down to about 35th place to see some believable non-cheaty times. My best is 0'24.452 (16th place), which must have involved overlapping the line, but the guy was complaining about a 0'24.496.

Anyway, there's no prizes so I don't mind if I'm disqualified, I'm just doing it for the grinding. And oh, the grinding. In half an hour you can do over 70 laps, it's boring but you'll suffer a puncture around half way through which is kind of interesting I suppose. I've gone from 920 credits this morning to 2,765 just today, but I did have to buy the Indy car first... I suppose it helped that pay day was two days ago!

I'm thinking I'll just keep saving and see what I've got by the time the event ends. I worked out that if you do 2 hours a night for a month you'd have enough for pretty much any car, but it's still a huge effort. It makes it difficult to spend credits when they're easy yet boring to earn.

So I finally got this working today and I gotta say wow, great fun so far. It helps that I was out there lapping Limerock pretty quickly and having done untold hundreds of laps there in my lifetime, getting the hang of it was fairly easy. That said I've only played for an hour so far so we'll see how it goes.

After playing this a bit more I still enjoy it but I noticed it is a bit laggy, anyone else have that issue? Also when you're in practice/quals/warm up lapping when someone joins in the game freezes for 1-3 seconds, but the timer continues to run which means my car is just sitting in that spot on track waiting for the person to load. I've had a few near pole qualifying laps ruined because of that.

I've just signed up for this game. Looks fun. I'll record some gameplay and post it on my channel.

Today is "Test Drive Tuesday" for the Lancia Stratos. Having given the car a go I can say that it is ****ing awesome! Perhaps my favourite car in the sim. The test drive tuesday cars are at a discount on the day so if you're interested you should buy then, I just got the Lancia for $1.47.

I think it's worth a mention, they added a new track - Pudsey, this is a model of an actual english town in yorkshire, it is a circuit so you don't have freedom to drive around the town but the attention to detail is impressive and the track itself is great, made up of the towns roads/dual carraigeway sections and a carpark, its fast and flowing and really enjoyable to drive.

Anyone who lives in britain will instantly feel at home as if they were driving around their local area. One thing I will say though, due to how dense in detail it is, it can be a bit of a resource hog and it will probably not be running very high in the fps department. It is beta though, so optimisations are probably in the works.

Surprising how similar some of these cars looks compared to SMS models.
That MC12 and MP4-12C could easily come from Shift 2 Unleashed.
The Ariel Atom and Audi R18 from PCars.
MidOhio is 100% from VirtuaLM no doubt.
Palatov prototype is 100% from the rFactor mod.
Have they some commercial deal with them or what ?

You know about Simraceway past right?
They stolen mods and tried to make some money.

I have the Virtua LM version of MidOhio on Rfactor 2 and it is nothing like the Simraceway version. As for the other stuff I have no idea, but their cars/content drives/looks nothing like any Rfactor mod content that I've driven, it is generally of much higher quality from my experience.

It's test drive tuesday for the Bruce Mclaren M6GT

Having driven it I think it is amazing, blown away. The oldschool V8 engine sounds amazing and the car drives great, give it a try!

New track added : Circuit of the Americas

Price is $0.60 or 600 credits.

Today is also Test Drive Tuesday for the Mclaren MP4-27 formula 1 car.

LOGO_McLaren_MP4-27_2012_FrontThreeQuarter.jpg

You can drive it today without buying, $9.99 is the reduced price if you buy it today, having driven it for a few laps around Watkins Glen I must admit it really is quite something, very challenging to drive fast but very rewarding, much better than anything I ever drove in Rfactor, very similar to the iRacing formula 1 car.

I considered the McLaren briefly but F1 and high power open wheelers aren't really my cup of tea, weirdly I love the low power ones but I've never really enjoyed F1 that much. The Atom 500 is back and that Alpine is possibly my favourite French car so I may well pick that up too, but I've barely touched SRW for over a month now so it's not extremely high on my priorities.

I gave the MP4-27 a go yesterday. I would say it is quite unrealistic if it is trying to simulate how the car drives in qualifying or race spec going by onboards. The only thing I can resemble it to is when F1 drivers do burnouts on their way to to line up on the grid.

I drove it around Watkins Glen and based by the standards of everything else I've driven F1 car sim wise I think it's pretty damn good, I would say that only Ferrari Virtual Academy is better from what I've tried, the iRacing car seemed so similar to me in terms of driving and sound that I had to have a double take, almost thought I was driving the same car from a fuzzy memory point of view.

Only tried the evo by time i downloaded all updates lol , but managed to grab the mclaren files for free , tbh from what i have seen of the game excellent menus etc and GUI but it is just Rfactor i will hold my judgement until i get a better graphics card as i get a lot of framedrops from SRW that i do not get with rfactor so physics are getting hidden by a bit of lag also took me weeks to get my wheel how i like it in rfactor probably be same with this Concept is excellent 👍

SharpView-1200-x-450.jpg

Cost : $7.85 or 7850 credits.

Should also mention that the game now has it's own rating based system that will matchmake players based on driving skill, currently only used in their "Quick Race 2" feature. The Ariel Atom 500 is also now again available to buy at $1.60/1600 credits. Last up, the Mclaren MP4-27 F1 car had a few tweaks including a much better default setup, definitely an improvement in my eyes.

The game is still in open beta, I've been told that they intend to have a forum thread for every car for further feedback in improving them, this spawned when I questioned the ammount of grip available on the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport during the test drive tuesday week.

From Bridgend. As for the graphics, like Game Stock Car (another Rfactor based game) the graphics have been heavily updated and pushed quite hard, meaning that even though it runs on the Rfactor engine it still wants a decent powered computer to run smoothly. It reminds me of World of Warcraft, a 2004 game on an ancient engine that has been pushed to the limits, though the same game on the same engine it would never run properly on a 2004 era computer anymore due to the heavily updated graphics, and infact wants a completely top end spec gaming computer to get the most out of.

I'm still waiting for some results, but it's possible that i won some cash in the Healey events @Troyton Club. :) Then I could finally buy me one of the race cars.

By the way, the Palatov D4 is a blast, best 500 Credits I've spent in the game.
