To Jordan. Will this make it possible to keep the mobile app operational? I know you said before that the mobile app will stop being supported. Will this have any affect on that?
The mobile apps will not be affected; they will still be discontinued in the near future.

So does this mean peoples post counts will also carry over?

So my post count will go up 400+ in a matter of hours?
Yes, if you have an account at both sites, your post counts will be added together.

If Forzaplanet has a thread about what you ate today and GTPlanet has that same, are you going to merge them or what?
Yes, any prominent (active) threads which are duplicates will be merged.

So, if people have a ForzaPlanet account but not a GTP one, will they be able to post in the GTP forums?

That's correct, AMCNUT. Their account will be like any other GTPlanet account.

Good luck with the transition, hope it goes smooth. :)

I just want to ask a single, simple question: were the Forza forums that unused? :scared: I know, Forza isn't exactly the most popular game for those of us who are actually interested in racing, and the 0 support for Logitech peripherals is a bummer, but... Merging the sites just makes it seem like Forza's nowhere near as popular as people make it out to be.

There are so many things wrong with this I'm not even going to bother piling onto the responses you've already gotten.

A bit of insight might serve you well in the future before jumping to wildly comical conclusions.

What happens with Avatars? Do we automatically keep our GTP avatars (and signatures, user titles, etc.)

Your GTPlanet profile fields and avatars will override anything that gets imported from your ForzaPlanet account.

I did check out ForzaPlanet once before; and it was pretty 'dead' (IMO). So this news isn't really surprising. :p
Hopefully the current GTP'ers can liven it up. ;)

Nice. 👍

I don't play, read about or have anything to do with Forza currently, but that could all change I suppose, now that both sites will be merged into one. Good luck with the move and I hope it all works out for the best.

Congrats Jordan and best of luck on the merger.👍

An overwhelming majority of ForzaPlanet users are from GTPlanet. They go there to talk about Forza, but come back here to talk about everything else (for obvious reasons).

Users being from GTP, that's a good thing. 👍

I have a question. After reading through this thread, it pertains to the forum users. We are (were) primarily a GT community and were brought here for one obvious reason / a common denominator within us .... The GT Series of games. Within this forum, we have in the past seen the "fan-boy-isms" pertaining to either side of the gaming platforms set forth by Sony and Microsoft. The question being this : What will stop this type of "fan-boy-ism" from spreading like a wildfire amongst this forum ? Obvious answer, the Mods. Will there be an "added security - more Mod action" to keep this as low key as possible ? I'd hate to see this fine community turn into a pissing match between the opposing sides of the gaming platforms. GTP has a great reputation (I've heard this from lurkers and members as well) and it would be a shame to see it get torn apart and earn negative rep. by such actions.

Speaking from the experience of having spent a fair amount of time there, as well as here prior to FP's launch; there won't really be a need. GTP'ers making up the majority of the FP membership was great for one big reason; chances are, they're familiar with both series, and don't turn it into a one-or-the-other approach, but appreciate both. Not evenly, mind - everyone has their preferences - but it made for, generally, very reasonable discussions. As a mod, I can only think of a handful of times any of us had to step in to deal with AUP violations relating to any of the "VS" threads over there.

Hope that helps 👍

It should also be pointed out that this won't really be an unusual or exotic situation - GTPlanet has always hosted dedicated forums for the Forza series. GTP's Forza board is actually larger than ForzaPlanet's entire forum.

Having said that, I'm saddened to see some of the derisive comments about ForzaPlanet since I announced my plans to merge the sites. Though it's almost always (unfairly) compared it to GTPlanet, it has actually done quite well. A cozy sense of community has developed there, and I'm proud to have built it.

An overwhelming majority of ForzaPlanet users are from GTPlanet. They go there to talk about Forza, but come back here to talk about everything else (for obvious reasons). When I launched FP as a separate site, I assumed there would be enough interest from outside GTPlanet to foster a mostly separate and independent community, but I overestimated interest in the Forza series and the demand for such a website. Now, I see that one unified platform is the best way to host and foster discussions about sim racing games of all types.

Well done on trying.

I thought from the beginning it would end this way and should be on one site for the reasons you stated.

The old tiny forza section on gtplanet had more regular viewers than Forza Central during the Forza 3 build up and launch, and thats with badned and the reveals, news links to fc etc, then the site went offline but seems to be back and a bit busier lately than compared to the whole Forza 3 window. Still only a handful logged to FC but quite a few guests now.

I was quite staggered to find forzacentral had like 5-15 people on at a time during F3 and thought no one has a chance to fm.net.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing it back and hopefully a more substantial presence than the old forza sub section we used to have on gtplanet.

I'm glad Forza is back. I have both consoles and play both games, (as mentioned a couple of times before) and I missed diving into Forza right after browsing GT. After the Forza Subforum disappeared and I had to actually register and then log in there . . . I guess I'm the lazy type - I just couldn't bother. Usually my routine would be to GT, then Forza, then the other games like TDU, NFS, etc, etc, which I also play. Every time I would scroll down the board I would miss the Forza section. Even though there was heavy squabbling at times, the mods did a great job keeping it flowing and active, and while I didn't say much except to chip in occassionaly to say I liked both games in their own way, I enjoyed the give and take and the information that came out of it.

It's hard work maintaining a site with a view to longevity, Jordan, and you should be proud of pioneering that site, and then bringing it back to the Mother Planet.
We are the Borg. 👍 Resistance is futile.

Well for the record, I had nothing against FP. I just wished it was more active.
Maybe the Forza section will be more active now since GTP will be the "all-in one" site for Forza & GT.

I'm confused. On this site's maintenance note it says it is very important that I check the full announcement over at ForzaPlanet, yet when I click the announcement link which should lead to a thread over there, it gives me the error it gives when trying to access any part of ForzaPlanet forums. :scared:

The forum is temporarily unavailable while software maintenance is performed. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause; please check back in a few minutes.

Also, just a minor thing, I guess it's not such a huge thing, but saying 'please check back in a few minutes' if the website is closed for weeks and will be closed (merged) altogether soon might confuse some people. Maybe replace that error with the full announcement thread?

Sorry, that was my mistake. I had to close the ForzaPlanet forums last night for a few minutes during my final round of preparations for the merge, and accidentally left them "closed". :ouch:

Most of the links to ForzaPlanet will still function after the merge. I've built a system which will seamlessly re-direct thread, forum, and post links to their new URL here on GTPlanet.

The start of the maintenance period will be delayed by approximately one hour.

Good luck with the merge Jordan. Hope everything goes well.

Good luck, captain; see you on the other side!

Hey guys, just letting you know that all Forza threads no longer exist apparently, according to GTPlanet, you're probably fixing it already, but may as well tell you in case you didn't know.

No, there will be no change or impact to GTPlanet members.

Jordan, did you fix this endless "Sending...." that has crept back into the app since the last update?
